There’s this consistent trend I see in Hazbin fan content where it’s popular to portray Angel as beautiful, dainty, needy, and wanting to be saved. Meanwhile Husk is essentially the tall and forceful knight in shinning armor, whisking Angel off his feet and always being there to rescue him.

I’m not saying this is always bad- it’s cute! It’s fun, but because it is such a common trope within this fandom, I feel compelled to ask if that’s what we think of Husk and Angel.

Do we think of Angel as a damsel in distress? The eight foot tall mobster spider? The “I can handle myself, baby,” guy? The one who grew closer to Husk through a combination of respect and blood?

Angel needs help, but he does NOT want to be rescued. His femininity being used as a reason to pity him and see him as weak is exactly what he would hate and borders on a disturbing view of femme presentation as a whole.

Husk, on the other hand, is 1. Not tall 2. Not a knight in shining armor 3. Not always going to be the one doing the saving.

Literally gets saved in episode four by Angel before they end up fighting back together! They’re good for one another, they’re friends, they’re partners.

They’re losers on equal footing in this point in their life. Whittling them down to the expected stereotyped of masculine and feminine personally rubs me the wrong way, especially since I feel Hazbin Hotel excels at going against those exact types of expectations.

Obviously continue to have fun and make the content you want to see, I’m some dickhead online, i wrote this out as a way to vent from the feelings surrounding all of this. See yah.

Callbacks to the first Puss in Boots movie in Puss in Boots 2

Their signature dance

This 😲 cat

The way they land in the wagon (aka Kitty always nailing it and Puss always failing it)

"Amateurs"

There's always a guy being flung away

Honestly there's so many more but I already exceeded the 10 pictures limit (maybe I'll make a part 2).

I know not a lot of people knew about the first Puss in Boots movie or liked it very much but it's actually a pretty decent and fun time when I watched it again. It's nice to see that the creators still took the liberty of going back to the first movie and using iconic moments as references in Puss in Boots 2 than just forgetting it existed entirely, shows how much they care about their characters and the story.

I just realized that you can see if someone is open minded from the way they look at pairings they don't ship.

There are people who are going to say "I don't personally ship this pairing, but I can understand the potential appeal of it" and there are people who're going to say "Ugh, I don't understand how anyone can ship this. It's obviously wrong".

Now apply this to any other topic.

It's kind of like art. You may not like a painting, but you should still keep in mind that it was put in a museum for a reason. It was a masterpiece to someone else.

i know that im the type of person who almost never ships characters platonically, but for some reason i MUCH prefer ships that are explicitly romantic but also have amazing platonic potential. like i love it when two characters arent super lovey-dovey all the time and treat each other like good friends without being all awkward about it?? its so cute and refreshing to see characters just being,, comfortable with each other without having to make some big romantic declaration yknow? its just great when a romantic ship could also just be an awesome friendship and the only thing that changes is that they dont kiss. i guess that’s why i never liked the whole “i wanna ruin our friendship, we should be lovers instead” cause who said they cant be besties in love like????? i dunno about you but i would want my lover to also be a best friend like that’s what i live for.
