The story of my heart. The one I wrote instead of going to therapy or moving out of Florida. This is not my tightest plotting or best pacing, but it is definitely my writing at its most emotionally raw and moving.

Unhinged kinky shrinkyclinks romcom. The climax of this one is the most fun I have ever had writing anything ever, it was so delightfully deranged. But also with moments of pure sweetness and vulnerability, too.

🫧 5 Times Bucky Tricked Steve Into Washing His Hair +1 Time He Didn’t Have To Ask

This one was a lot of firsts! First time doing a bang, which was delightful. First time doing a 5+1. And first time writing from Bucky's POV. I love all of the hijinks in this. I usually write comedy that is more reliant on dialogue, so it was fun practice to get more into the situational comedy.

🍎 An Apple A Day

This fic really surprised me! I flew through the writing without much of a plan, and I ended up with some great elements I wasn't expecting. I love the banter in this one, and the chemistry between them. This Bucky ended up being an absolute doll, such a dream boat, and this Steve is prickly and hopeful, just the way I like him.

🎄 The Great Barnes-Rogers Christmas Tree Heist of 1938

I love how very young and goofy they both feel in this pre-war fic, constantly bantering, and bickering, and tussling with each other. Bucky's moody, vulnerable, sweetness matches well with Steve's hard-headed determination and problem-solving.

Hey, does everyone remember when, in CA:TWS, after being shot three times, and while bleeding out, and while on a hellicarrier that was rapidly crashing into the Potomac, Steve climbed down that hellicarrier, so that he could lift a massive piece of the hellicarrier off of a trapped Bucky? (Bucky, who at that point did not recognise/remember Steve and was, you know, the one who shot Steve?) And remember how it looked like it was a real struggle for him to lift it, even though he's Steve, because, I assume, it was incredibly heavy, and also because he'd been shot three times, and also because the hellicarrier was actively crashing and exploding? And, obviously, what comes immediately after Steve pulling this piece of hellicarrier off Bucky is him saying things like "you know me," and "you've known me your whole life," and "I'm not gonna fight you," and worst of all, "then finish it, 'cause I'm with you 'till the end of the line." And dropping his shield into the Potomac. And all of that is heartbreaking and amazing and astoundingly romantic, no matter how many times you see it.

But. I was rewatching CA:TWS, and it struck me that the lifting Hellicarrier piece specifically, is such a moment. It's such a Steve sort of thing. It's one of the several things, strength/ability-wise, that Steve will do — for Bucky — throughout his films that he had to have NO IDEA if he could actually do before he attempted(like stopping that helicopter in CA:CW). But of course he does it, because Bucky is trapped under there, and Bucky looks terrified, and the hellicarrier is crashing, and Steve's gotta get Bucky outta there, and Steve has to help him, and Steve has to go him, and Steve has to — because it's Bucky. And — Steve is filled with so much determination and love and devotion. The love he has fueling that moment is so immense and intense.

And it is really, really getting to me on this thousandth rewatch of CA:TWS.

This really is the most romantic movie of all time.

My fave of fics of mine are:

The Sweetest Spark - because it’s my first fic and will always be special to me. Mostly fluff and cuteness.

Maybe This Christmas - I love xmas fics, so I loved writing one myself. This then became a fairly large series, but the first part is special to me. Was my most kudosed fic until very recently when Heart of Mine overtook it by two kudos!

A Higher Epsilon - Stucky and dogs, more mostly cuteness, with obliviousness thrown in from Bucky’s side. I feel very absorbed into their world in this and I hope readers are too. Probably my favourite fic ending I’ve done.

Chemistry - romcom shenanigans. One of my fave experiences posting a fic, readers had many opinions and were so involved, it was wonderful.

Heart of Mine - the fic I’m most proud of. The experience of writing it was so involving and was done during covid times so it gave me something to focus on. And it just flowed out. But I remember really going over everything, trying to make everything very detailed and to get the characterisation right. Probably the most I’ve paid attention to my writing style.

my first ever baby fic, I'm still so fond of it. I loved exploring the artist side of steve and getting to create the world around steve and bucky that the movies didn't show us...

🌺 Another Song, Another Spring | stevebucky | 46k | modern AU | kid fic

writing this one was...amazing, i knew exactly what i wanted and every scene flowed straight out of me without any trouble. and even the scenes i wrote later to fill some holes didn't kick up any fuss! truly so fun. i poured a lot of love and tidbits from my own experiences with my sisters/family into this one, and i like to think it shows :)

this one! a monster of a fic, and one i'm still pretty proud of -- there were a lot of harder questions and discussions i wanted to talk about in the post-catws era, and i got to in this love letter to steve, the old sufferer himself and boy does he suffer. but with happy endings, because we all deserve those!

this one is my newest child, and my second SOC fic, but one that i worked on for a long while and i'm so glad to have gotten it out in the world. it was such a struggle comparatively because the other two fandoms i've written for are movie based, and this one is a book, and it's SO intimidating to try to write something that's true to the style of the original writer while not copying her work too much and keeping the characters true to themselves while growing them...ugh. it was a lot but so worthwhile. can't wait to do it again soon ;)

I’m listening to “Rock n Roll is King,” by ELO and it hit me.

Steve and Bucky went straight from swing, big band, and Jazz music to whatever the fuck was happening in 2014 ish. What a shock to the system!!

Who taught them about rock music and Elvis and The Beatles? Who taught them how music changed and shaped the world?

Funny how so many fics and even the MCU itself had things like “Star Wars” and the internet. But what about everything in between? So many culturally significant things happened in that 70 odd years and Star Wars was the best they could do?

I mean I get that the MCU wanted to just quickly throw in stuff for the whole “man out of time thing” without actually dealing with it properly or how it would have affected him mentally.

But when he first meets up with the soon to be Avengers and he hears AC/DC?

Or music in shops or cafes. Sitting and sketching a new modern skyline and he can’t help but listen to some lyrics and it’s rap music or hard rock and he’s like “what did they just say???”
