summoning some writeblrs!

this might look like i’m fishing for attention (i don’t know maybe i am) but if you’re a writeblr who writes poems, edits writings to look *dare we say* aesthetic, post excerpts of your bomb ass novel, teases your readers with scripts that begin on god knows where, and basically just writes in the midst of this horrible pandemic with the care of being somehow noticed and praised, please reblog or reply or slip in my dm’s so we could follow each other and MAYBE just MAYBE cry and fall in love with each other’s writings.

i would also really love to know your names, a song you would love to be played in your funeral (or what people will sing when your ashes are scattered or kept in a jar), and the first time you knew your childhood was g o n e. i really hate small talk, let’s dig right in the tenderness of our soul!!!!

LOOKING FOR BETA READERS!!

Want to experience magic, a brand new fantasy world, swords, and glimpse the might of a half-demon army? My WIP might be what you’re looking for!

I’m currently recruiting beta readers for The Princess of Light, a Young Adult high fantasy novelette that follows the lengths two rival kingdoms will go to in order to obtain the most powerful embodiments of magic in the universe for the benefit or destruction of humanity.

The story takes place in the kingdom of Enchancia, an incredibly large territory that occupies at least 50% of the planet it dwells on. Faith, trust, and one’s own pride are all thrown on the line when the most revered demigod steps down from high above to bless the royals’ infant daughter with power that could supposedly aid them in the coming war. Any wrong move could be fatal with the enemy kingdom waiting to strike across the border, but when your own god lends you aid, what could go wrong?

The Princess of Light, or PoL, is the prequel of my series, Darkness & Light. It’s a novelette that is 60 pages long with 30.3k words. I’d love for betas to finish by June 30th, but due to the current situation with the coronavirus pandemic, I’ll allow leeway for anyone who needs it during this crisis, especially since some of you may be in school and are adjusting to taking courses fully online (like myself lmao).

-

The PoL is YA High Fantasy!! so anyone with an interest or passion for this genre is welcome and greatly appreciated! It deals with t h e m e s such as:

  • royalty
  • friendship
  • betrayal
  • sacrifice
  • war
  • family
  • and manipulation,

and t r o p e s such as

  • darkness vs light
  • found family
  • faith vs doubt
  • and the chosen one.

Magic is bountiful and swords are a necessity because?? HELLO. Demigods and other half-breeds are also key ingredients to this WIP.

For more elements of this story, check out the PoL’s WIP Bingo!

For the moodboards of the main characters, here’s King Lucian, Queen Ella, The Oracle, and The Queen of the Underworld.

-

If you’re interested, please fill out this Google Form by March 30th!! Keep in mind this is YA and High Fantasy, but they don’t have to be your favorite genres for you to apply!

Even if you’re not interested or life is preventing you from being able to beta-read, I’d really appreciate if you could boost this :) This is my first time hosting a beta-reading so it’ll be trial and error, but I’m looking forward to receiving feedback and FINALLY letting others read my work.

If you have any questions, feel free to DM me (or reblog this with the question)! Thank you for your time!!

Camp NaNo Show & Tell: April 2020

It’s that time of year again, but with a twist, we have new, shared challenges. If you’re forging ahead with Camp NaNo next month, we have a few ideas to help you stay on track.

Show and Tell is a split prompt event of a few ‘find the word’ options to showcase a bit of your writing, followed by a short list of questions about how you’re going. We post once a week, and reblog your answers. You are not obligated to answer every post or every question, but we would love to hear how you’re going!

If you’d like to participate, tell us a bit about your WIP here and we’ll tag you in weekly prompts about your writing and processes during April. Please double check your url, or we won’t be able to tag you correctly.

If you’d like us to reblog your Camp NaNo (or other) WIP Intro, please submit them here, and we can share them.

Stay safe, writers x

Come and join in!

Creative life update event

We have been thinking with a few writer friends to create a new writeblr event - an opportunity to share updates and news about yourself and find out what fellow writeblrs are currently working on.

The thing about this event is, you don't have to feel pressured to update wordcounts if you didn't write much lately - anything and everything you do creatively counts.

From daydreaming, brainstorming, new ideas, outlining, re-outlining, editing, AUing, moodboards, playlists, drabbles, short stories, poems,... - and ofc writing your wip and updating your stories literally as well.😉

Inspiration from the latest movie, totally unrelated idea that has been hunting you, new realization from an intersting writing article - doubts, difficulties and victories - we want to know it all!

The point of this little event is:

  • To get to know what fellow writeblrs are working on
  • For writers themselves to realize how much they are doing - whether they are writing or being creatively active in other ways
  • To support each other on the wiritng journey
  • Getting new discussion opportunities about our projects
  • To share and exchange ideas with others
  • Connecting
  • Asking for opinions or advice on things you are currently working on
  • Talking about your writing without feeling like you are annoying anyone or screaming into the void - there are people interested after all!

How it works:

  • Make a post called Creative life update + date
  • Make a list of things you have been thinking/working on lately
  • Ask for opinions on things you are undecided about
  • Say anything else you want to share about real life or whatever comes to mind!
  • Tag peeps you would like to know what they have been up to lately and spread the event
  • Use the tag #creativelifeupdate
  • Scroll through the tag to see and support fellow writers on their creative path
  • Talk, reblog and brag 😎
  • There is no specific day to do this, but it would be best to try to give an update every week

Anyone is free to join whenever they want! I will probably pick a day to do a reminder round each week, but you can answer whenever you have time.

If you want to be on the reminder tag list, let me know :)

Tagging: @thewalkingnerdx who inspired the event, @sybil-writes who came up with the wonderful name for it, and @mjmnorwood who expressed interest in it :)

List of Questions to Ask Yourself When a Story Feels Stuck

Basic Human Needs

  • When was the last time you took a break?
  • Are you mentally/emotionally/physically exhausted?
  • Have you recently had anything substantial to eat/drink?

Basic Writer Needs

  • How are you feeling? Examine any negatives. Self-doubt, jealousy, anxiety, etc. Why are you feeling this way? Did something prompt it? Reach out to others if you can.
  • Have you been writing in the same place for too long? Using the same playlist? Try changing it up.
  • When was the last time you took in creative media from someone else? Books, podcasts, movies, tv? Seek out stories other than your own.
  • Are you falling into the trap of expecting perfection when there is no such thing?

Focus on the trouble spot

  • Do you know where you want your characters to be after the part you’re stuck on?
  • Can something new be introduced? A ticking time bomb, a surprise attack, a betrayal, a murder, a confession?
  • Do you like the constraints you’ve set up for yourself? That is, the setting, the characters present, the ‘props’ at their disposal? Anything you can add, change, or take away?
  • Reread the last couple of scenes before your trouble spot. Is there a way you could rewrite/detour the trajectory in a new, not stuck direction?

The bigger picture

  • Do you know how the story ends?
  • Does your outline need to change? Would it help you to make an outline?
  • How do you want the events of this ‘stuck scene’ to affect the rest of the plot? Is there a different way to create the same results?
  • Are the characters acting in a way that doesn’t work with the plot? Which are you willing to change, the characters or the plot?

where the fantasy writeblrs at

My dash is shockingly empty and I’m looking for people to follow, so if you:

-are a fantasy writeblr/writer

-are an lbgtq writer

-have lgbtq characters/themes

-are friendly and active

-are just a writeblr at all!

please like/reblog/comment so I can follow you!

I’m a non-binary sapphic writer whose characters are almost always LGBTQA ! I also write fantasy as well as a mix of other genres! I’m trying to be as active as possible!

My fantasy WIPs are:

I’m also writing WLW and MLM Contemporary Romances: The Transgender Propaganda Society Three Steps of Romance Meet Me in the Rink (to be introduced)

That said – I shall recommend a few writeblrs who write fantasy or have LGBTQA characters or are LGBTQA themselves (or a mix of all of the above), this is not a full list, however:

@sirbeaumains @livvywrites @quilloftheclouds @dove-actually @klywrites @mvcreates @milkyway-writes @jc-shay @ofinscriptions @royalbounties @planets-and-prose @bookenders

are a few people who come to mind at this time of night!!

hey guys! guess whose blog just got fucking uhhhh TERMINATED WITHOUT EXPLANATION!

that's right, it's ya girl @semblanche's.

in case that rings no bells- you may know me from wips such as

  • terras town (urban fantasy about a kid getting trapped in a parallel world),
  • half-dead hope (dark academia wlw),
  • common tongue (a lovely mix of body horror and linguistics)

i don't know why my blog got terminated, but i'm doing my best to get it back - ngl, this kind of stings, since most of my writing was on it and now i'm gonna have to try finding it through others' blogs if this remains a permanent thing. i really hope it's not.

i would appreciate it if you could maybe rb this! no pressure, ofc. it'd just mean a lot 💓

Hi! I'm looking for more writeblrs to follow!

My dash is awfully empty and I want to meet new people so if you're a writeblr maybe reblog this post so I can check out your blog? Thank you 💙

(The genre and whether you write poetry or novels doesn't matter to me, though my personal favorite genre is fantasy. Also, I follow from my main @starrys0ul)
