You want fantasy with dragons but no child soldiers? Temeraire.

Fantasy with monsters and wizards and a protagonist who cares about children and protecting them? The Witcher.

Fantasy with cool powers and a big scary evil controlling despot who needs to be defeated? Mistborn.

Western where the adults care about the children and try to protect them even if they sometimes fail and are ultimately fatally flawed? Lonesome Dove.

Science fiction with robots and no children in danger? Murderbot.

Wacky hijinks science fiction on a spaceship with no children involved? Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

World building (literally) science fiction? Children of Time.

Alien contact science fiction? The Three Body Problem or The Winter World.

Other just, really,, good sci fi? Anything by Andy Weir

Saving a magical kingdom with no children involved? Spinning Silver.

Fantasy world setting with a fun adventure to save the world but the children are not in real danger and their parents care about them? Dark Lord of Derkholm

Sci Fi on a spaceship to find out why the universe is collapsing and also fight an evil empire? The Divide series.

I could go on, but you get the point. Find what you want to read. Read what makes you happy. Stop reading things that are clearly upsetting you. There are so many books out there and no reason to waste your time on ones you don't like.
