Sigils for the LGBTQUIA community

The Orlando shooting affected us all and here in the @nachoaveragepagans chat we decided to make some sigils to aid in healing, protection, and justice. You can use all of them or some or one, depending on your needs and aims.

This is a protection sigil for LGBTQUIA folk, made by @druidpixie.

This is a sigil for healing for the LGBTQUIA community, made by Mystic Mars.

For justice, we decided that @problemglyphs‘s Hex of Obsolescence was proper because it was created in response to a trans person’s need for the ideas of those oppressing them to not outlive them. Right now the voices and ideas of bigots are crescendoing and threatening to wipe us out. Making them not matter, making their ideas never take root, making their voices fall on deaf ears: that’s a very valuable magical measure right now. Anyway, I linked to it so you can use it for this purpose if you want.

Then there’s this sigil that I made ( @da-at-ass ) which uses/charges/calls upon all three at once, if you want to pull them all together and do some combo work:

Use them as you need to and stay safe, find happiness, heal.

Witchy Wishlists, Year Two!

Everything went great last year and we had lots of fun, so we’re back again for round two! 

In case you weren’t around the first time, or you need your memory refreshed, here’s how it works:

  1. You make a wishlist, with no more than about ten items. You can ask for whatever you like!
  2. You post this wishlist to the tag #witchy wishlists. Only do this ONCE! You can reblog the post all you want, but only make one post directly to the tag. 
  3. After you’ve made your list, visit the witchy wishlists tag and find other wishes to grant! 

It’s really that simple, but here are some questions that popped up a lot last year that I’d like to address ahead of time this year!

  • Do I have to be a witch to participate? No! “Witchy” is meant to be somewhat vague and applies to not just witches, but also pagans, fortune tellers, and anyone who might fall under the “witchy” label — use your own judgement, no one will be judging you!
  • Is this an exchange? No!! There are no assigned partners in this and you don’t have to give anything to anyone, even if they’re sending you something!! While I definitely encourage you to look around at other wishlists to see what you can do for everyone else, there’s absolutely nothing stopping you from posting your own wishlist to the tag and not doing anything else for the whole run of the project.
  • Is there an official tumblr for this? I decided early on to keep this project as casual as possible, because I don’t want to risk over-managing and sucking out all of the fun! So just visit the tag to find lists and ask me if you have any questions!
  • Can I still participate even if I don’t have any/much money? Yes! You can always post your own wishlist, and lots of people end up wishing for things that don’t have a monetary cost. You never know what people are going to ask for — advice, friends, music, followers — and sometimes someone will want something you already have and are able to send! 
  • Can I participate without making my own wishlist? Sure! Just browse through the tag and grant what wishes you can! 

Just like last year, Witchy Wishlists runs starting today, December 1st and will end on January 13th (my birthday!). So get to posting and have fun!

Justice Spells:

  • (For a murderer) Write the name of the murderer on an egg or an orange, wrap it in black cloth, and bury it. Press your hand into the earth to leave an imprint and spit on it. This symbolizes that the murderer is now in the hands of their victim.
  • (For revenge) Slice off the bottom of a black pillar or votive candle and carve it so the wick is exposed. Slice off the top so that it’s flat and the candle is reversed. Dress the candle with amber or licorice oil. Prepare a slip of paper with the target’s name. Place the reversed candle in a dish with the paper. Burn on top of a toilet tank. Put the paper to the candle flame until it is ash, then flush it.
  • (For retribution) Place a slip of paper with a human figure and the target’s name into a jar (feet first) with any combination of the herbs listed above. Fill it with vinegar and add a piece of mirrored glass. Seal the jar TIGHTLY with duct tape and turn it over, thus inverted the human image. As you do so, say, “On your own head be it.” Bury the jar upside down.

Skeptic's Long Overdue Intro

Hi, I'm Skeptic, and I've been putting this off because I pretend I want to have a low profile.

1. Name/Nickname: We're gonna stick to Skeptic for now. 2. skype username: Spuchuu 3. I'm alive.  4. Graygender with strong leanings toward male. 5. WHAT FLAVOR OF PAGAN ARE YOU (INCLUDE LOTS OF DEETS) 

I'm a hard polytheist with an appetite for academic study. My fluffy period was 4 days. I worship (knowing that I break many rules doing this) Lilith, Athena, Ebisu, and Blodeuwedd. There are others who come and go and I'm anywhere between honoring them and devoted to them.

I'm a kitchen witch and by "kitchen" I mean "baking." However, I specialize in spirits (HAH!) and I have a lot of spells I make with alcoholic beverages. asksecularwitch likes to joke that I'm a "Spirits Worker" and she's not wrong.

I do spells, I collect tarot and oracle cards, and I advise other pagans on stuff. Depending on my availability, I can pull research out of the Library of Congress.

How to join the chat

  1. Read all the posts here to make sure you jive with our vibe. We all have intro posts stating our tumblrs and what our spiritual paths are and such, so you can know ahead of time what sorta subjects we are likely to talk about. And sometimes we post quotes.
  2. Send an ask to someone on the tumblr with your skype name and we'll add you.
  3. That's pretty much it. So far no one's made us have like, really set in stone rules or moderation. Don't be the one to change that. Wipe your feet, be polite, keep it a fun space to be in. <3
