Dear Arlene, I believe your son is mentally ill

I DO NOT support the crime James Holmes committed. I DO NOT support crimes in any aspect....

I really miss seeing Jimmy

During the trial it was just nice to see that he was doing ok. It was a comfort that I don't think I fully understood till now. I know Arlene probably feels that a million times over. I hope that they can communicate now without to much fear. Though, communications can still get into money grubbing vile hands. Ugh!

Friendly reminder that the US dismissed a lawsuit by rape survivors, ruling that the military was not liable because sexual assault is an "occupational hazard."

What the actual fuck?

That’s disgusting! Rape is rape.

Ugh!

Occupational hazard?! What the actual fuck?!

So someone is keeping James Doc number from us? Or do we have it? I would like to write him 😢 Just sucks that someone is writing him and being so vile!

The Colorado Department of Corrections has confirmed that an inmate assaulted theater shooter James Holmes and a security officer in the highest security prison in the state.

Holmes was not injured, officials say.

Mark “Slim” Daniels, 27, will be charged with assault on a correctional officer and an assault on Holmes, said Adrienne Jacobson, spokeswoman for the Colorado Department of Corrections.

“Daniels and Holmes are both housed at CSP. The incident occurred during an offender movement,” Jacobson said.

Daniels lunged at Holmes, took a few swings at him a few times.

“It was in passing,” Jacobson said.

Holmes was in a Management Control Unit, where he is allowed to spend four hours in a day hall. Currently there are no other inmates in his cellblock. The contact came as they were passing in a hallway.

The Denver Post learned of the assault Friday through a letter whose writer claimed to be Daniels. He said the assault happened on Oct 8.

The DOC has not seen a copy of the letter and therefore can’t say whether Daniels wrote it.

Holmes is serving life sentences in the murders of 12 people at the Century Aurora 16 theater. He also injured 70 people.

State corrections officials sent Holmes to the CSP, the highest security state prison in Colorado in September.

Daniels, who has used many aliases including Katrina Martinez, is serving time for numerous convictions out of Lakewood and Westminster and Adams County for menacing, auto theft, assault and smuggling contraband into prison.

He was charged with first degree assault on a guard in 2006.

Daniels is 6-feet-4 and weighs 195 pounds.

What if he had a weapon??? “A few swings” after lunging at him in passing may not sound like a big deal but had he had a weapon, Jimmy could have easily, just like that, lost his life.

WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE PUTTING A MENTALLY ILL MAN CLOSE ENOUGH TO OTHER PEOPLE FOR THAT TO HAPPEN

Omg :( I can’t even think about that.

It’s really not acceptable! :( Sorry this has happened James!

I bet Brauchler is laughing about this. James NEEDS to be in a hospital. I think they’ll move him soon

Yeah, scumbag Brauchler will think this is ‘just’!

‘Murderabilia’ dealer sells letter from Aurora theater shooter James Holmes

In the letter, which appears to come from the Colorado State Penitentiary where he is serving a life sentence, Holmes discusses some of the places he traveled and talks about prison life.

“I’m doing ok in prison, they have me very isolated. I’m in my own pod which has 16 cells in it. The guards call cells houses, which I found intriguing. It’s a lot different from jail. For one, the food is considerably better. It’s also less safe in prison. There’s guys doing hard time and who don’t care about the consequences of being violent because it’s not like they will get a longer sentence,” he wrote.

Looks like his handwriting, but the pressure seems too heavy and the wording/phrasing is off. Wouldn’t he just sign it “James” or “Jim”?

:( It’s sad to me that someone is selling his letter. Unless he gave permission for it to be sold, I really don’t think this is appropriate. While I’m glad to see he’s getting letters, it doesn’t sit well with me that someone is making cash off of his situation. James is severely ill, incarcerated, and twelve people are dead. He needs to be supported and given adequate care, not manipulated into selling himself to the tabloids.

“Hutchison said Holmes didn’t know the letter — which he sent in response to a letter from another collector — would be sold.”

That is absolutely disgusting. I hate people who take advantage of those who are vulnerable and marginalized. James is severely ill and incarcerated! He isn’t someone you should be making a quick buck on!

It makes me sad and angry. People would genuinely love to receive a letter from James and get to correspond with him, who actually care about him. But THIS person is the one who got a letter and the sole purpose they wrote him in the first place was to cash in on him 😡

“The Dark Knight Rises” - Psycho Killer”

That is how they worded the title….Jesus Christ. That is wrong on so many levels, and I cannot even begin to explain how disgusted I am with this Kelly Hutchison person. Fuck them and everything they stand for, tbh. Taking advantage of a sick man, and taking up stamps and paper that he could be using to write to someone who has his best interests at heart, someone who is not just looking to make a quick buck. I swear, I hate most people.

if this fucker causes james to not want to write to people for fear of being exploited……..

Exactly!!^^ that’s my fear. I wonder if he’ll find out.?

The guy who sold the letter has never written to inmates. He has a website where he buys stuff in order to re-sell it. Kelly never wrote to James and traded for the letter so it is his to do with as he pleases. And for all you people know, James may have no problem whatsoever with it being sold.

For all of us loyal people, who have been by James side for 3 years, who genuinely CARE about him, pray for him, and sending letters and money orders…this bothers me as well. People will do anything for a quick buck.   Hope this doesn’t ruin it for the rest of us. Something is fishy anyway, how are people getting his DOC number, but yet choosing not to share?  So…why hide it?  Is it even real??  I hate conflicting reports. :(

I know someone who called the prison today, and was told he can’t get mail without his number and the guy couldn’t give out any info on him, even though he knows exactly where James is. So..I dunno.  It would be nice to know if he is getting all of our mail without the DOC number.

They can’t make any money if they share the DOC number and that what this is really all about, money and power trips.

There are some utter slimeballs in this world. :( Hope James IS getting his mail from genuine people and not just people out to make money etc.

I have been fearing that something like this would happen

The people who have gotten letters aren’t really holmies I don’t think.

James Holmes’ notebook and the infinity symbol explained

Equal = 0   No value

Equal may =  (infinity symbol) Ultimate good

Equal may = (infinity symbol) Ultimate evil

Can a person have both no value AND be ultimately good AND/OR ultimately evil? in value?  *Unknown.

Why does the value of a person even matter?

*Justice

If people are ultimately good

or evil in value, then one may

suffer from injustice.

If life has no value:

-  All is just

-  Life and death are not demarcated.

-  Any and all actions have no

impact on anything.

Moral imbeciles are those who side

with 0 or - (infinity symbol). The ideals of society

are founded on + (infinity symbol).

Why do persons commit to 0 or - (infinity symbol)?

All men are created equal and all men

are uncreated equal but inbetween there

is inequality.

My mind:  (James draws a long horizontal line with an arrow on both ends. The left arrow has a - and an infinity symbol. The right arrow has a + and an infinity symbol.  He places a short vertical line directly in the middle of the horizontal line, with a check mark directly above the vertical line and a 0 directly below the vertical line - to represent himself.)

(All information was directly transcribed from the photocopy above.)

Excellent reporting today by The Denver Post’s Jordan Steffen, who breaks the news that three jurors in the Aurora theater trial voted affirmatively for life in prison, according to one of the three jurors, who was previously thought to have been undecided.

Steffen’s interview is beautifully written, giving you a great sense of the juror’s struggles and a journalist’s experience talking to her, but what caught my eye, as someone who listened to prosecutor George Brauchler repeatedly say he was “one vote away” from getting the death penalty, were these three paragraphs:

“There were three,” [the juror] said. “Not one.”

…Arapahoe County District Attorney George Brauchler has said he wouldn’t second-guess his decision to pursue the death penalty because of one juror’s position that led to the life sentence.

Last week, he said all of the deliberating jurors he’s spoken with have indicated that Juror 17’s account was accurate. He conceded that he hadn’t met with all of them.

More of an explanation from Brauchler would have been nice, because you have to wonder why a man of his intelligence and intensity would deliver rotten information about the jury count, without at least saying he wasn’t sure or acknowledging, as  juror 17 had clearly said after the trial, that juror 17 was against the death sentence and two jurors were undecided. That’s obviously three, not one, votes away from conviction.

Maybe Brauchler, who subsequently announced he wouldn’t challenge Sen. Michael Bennet, was just trying to make himself look good? But as a veteran prosecutor, he had to know that his misinformation could be hurting real people.

Steffen reported that the juror he interviewed ended “her silence because she could no longer bear to watch the weight of public scrutiny — what she described as a ‘witch hunt’ — fall solely on the shoulders of her fellow juror.”

Brauchler was partly responsible for the witch hunt, as today’s Post piece makes clear.

More than 200 people exceeded the drive’s capacity on Friday — an outcome that didn’t surprise longtime residents of the tight-knit Roseburg community.

ROSEBURG, Oregon — Before the Roseburg blood drive began on Friday, health workers realized they were over capacity — way over.

The sight of a line of people snaking around the strip mall parking lot was a shock to members of the mobile donor center team, said Mercy Medical Center’s Frank Rambaum.

The hospital laboratory assistant director, however, wasn’t surprised.

“What we’ve seen with the community, how much they pull together when things happen, I figured it’d be big,” he said.

Over the five-hour drive, representatives of Lane Blood Center planned to work with 50 to 60 donors to provide much-needed supplies for the hospital, Rambaum said. But at least 200 had hoped to help, with more stopping by throughout the afternoon to ask for information.

The blood center is working to make appointments for later in the month, and another blood drive is already scheduled for Oct. 21.

“It’s just overwhelming to see that many turn out,” Rambaum said.

In the town of 22,000, the fatal shooting of nine at the local community college — as well as the injury of nine others and death of the shooter — has touched almost every resident.

Speaking at a news conference on Friday, an emotional Sen. Jeff Merkley of Oregon described how as a young child he had lived in Roseburg, where extended family members still live.

His first cousin’s great granddaughter was one of the victims.

“I never thought it could be possible that my family would be affected,” he said. “No one would have thought that here in this beautiful place, Roseburg, it could happen.”

About 10 minutes outside of the tiny city center, Umqua Community College sits in the hills, bordered by a farm, a lumberyard, and the North Umpqua River. Less than a mile from campus is the apartment of alleged shooter Chris Harper-Mercer, with only a few homes, the river, and an elementary school in between.

One of Harper-Mercer’s neighbors, Lori Stoe, stopped at the blood drive Friday before returning to a home that was once again quiet following an all-night investigation of the area by authorities. She looked forward to donating sometime later this month.

“Even if it doesn’t go right here in Roseburg, it does for the next thing that happens,” she said.

Stoe, a Roseburg native and two-year resident of the neighborhood, had seen Harper-Mercer from time to time as she walked her dogs.

On Friday, her thoughts were with the victims — one of the injured is a friend of her son’s, she graduated from UCC’s nursing school in the ‘80s, and last year, her fiance completed his degree after going back to school. Returning to daily life after the tragedy would be difficult for everyone in the community, she said.

“It’s always right there in the back of your mind,” Stoe said.

Across from the blood drive at McDonald’s, the marquee said simply “Praying.” Similar messages of support have shown up across town

The last two days have been surreal, said Lindsey Keller, an early blood O- arrival at the drive who was waiting for her turn to donate.

Two of her coworkers were on the UCC campus at the time of the shooting. They escaped unharmed, and her relief for them once she finally got the text confirming they were OK turned immediately to heartache for those who weren’t.

“This is my community,” she said. “I went to UCC when I was younger. This is my family.”

Keller also was not surprised by the blood drive’s turnout — though she added it left her with an overwhelming pride.

“This won’t break us,” she said. “We’ll be remembered for our response and coming together, not the tragedy that happened.”

Going to say something snarky, please forgive me

But do you get that the #nonoteriety is bullshit?! Take the time and energy you spend typing words on twitter and put that focus on the problem not a freaking name! Do you see that it is not working?!

This is trying to stop a charging horse after it’s already left the stable. Let’s be realistic, here. That’s not the biggest part of the problem. Mental health and firearms are the real issues.
