An end-of-the-year Art vs Artist for 2023. After the creative Sahara of burnout that was 2020-2022 it’s been wonderful to start and feel that ol’ creative spark return this year. Onward and upward!
I haven’t kept a color sketchbook in nearly 20 years, because the last time I did I accidentally left the thing on the roof of my car, and it wound up in the middle of a busy intersection, which was… a tad traumatizing. But, lately, I’ve had a genuine drive to get back into traditional mediums, as a nice way to separate art exploration for fun from the purely digital stuff I do for work. So, although I’m super rusty, here’s to colorful adventures in a new sketchbook, starting with The Light Dragon from Tears of the Kingdom. 🎨
We lost my uncle to cancer not too long ago. He was a great guy, and is missed dearly. My cousin requested a portrait, and he was a joy to draw. We miss you so much, Bill. 🎨💜
