Be thankful to all the emergency service workers, hospital staff, and military who are giving up spending the new year with friends and family to protect and serve your community/country. Happy new year!

Working in Healthcare

Like working retail, but every single customer is hungry, in pain, sleep deprived, and has expectations on par with the service at an exclusive, 7-star resort.

Also, everything is beeping.

and some days the only thing you can do is open your eyes and try not to think about what hurts and that is so okay. not everyday is going to be a happy day but that doesn’t mean that you are not happy. it will be okay. the hurt will one day hurt less and that’s all you can really know for sure. you will be able to make it.

100 Days of Productivity 81-82/100 Sunday 29th - Monday 30th April 2018, Had a mammoth 'brain day' on Sunday.... Physically it wasn't very productive (or active for that matter lol), but it was definitely a mentally straining day as I worked to prepare for my up come week at uni in between assessment work. Today was another long day at uni, 8am - 6pm kind of long. It started off with our last study group sesh in the practice lab 😫 (access to the practice lab is prioritised to the 3rd & 2nd years coming up to practical assessments). We got in a heap of practice on our technical airway and vital signs skills in preparation for our practical exams in a couple of weeks. After we finished there it was off for a family breakfast before being couped up in our 3hr psychology lecture/tutorial. Once that was over with it was time for another feed 😂 (we all like to eat... A LOT!), but it wasn't long before we got back to it completing this week's online pych quiz. My final class of the day was for my communications course where we formed our groups for our end of semester oral presentations.

100 Days of Productivity 79-80/100 Friday 27th & Saturday 28th April 2018, My Friday kicked off with a desperately needed sleep in after a hectic week at uni full of assessment and mid-semester exams. After some study & report writing throughout the day, it was off for twinny time with my favourite person on the planet, Kirby Jayde 😍 We started the afternoon bathing her absolute boof head of a dog, Bear. He's a 37kg Staffy, so that was fun trying to get him in and out of the bath. Afterwards it was off for a walk to make sure he was properly dry in an attempt to stop him using the couch as a giant towel. Once we got back home after our walk, Kirby and I got ready to hit the town for a dinner date.... We were most upset to find out the restaurant we planned to go to is currently closed for renovations. So once we finished sulking, we decided on another restaurant. When ended up getting Chinese, and taking it for a picnic in the park along the beach front. It was blowing a damn gale, but we had fun nonetheless! We went for a stroll along the esplanade at Mooloolaba Beach where we came across a new lolly shop. So naturally we bought far too many lollies to take home for our girls night in. The rest of the night was spent on the couch talking smack , ranting about work & uni, and watching movies as we consumed far too many lollies. Saturday was basically a repeat of Friday. The day was, for the most part, spent on the couch with Bear Bear & Kirby while we ate junk food, talked more smack, and watched more TV. We've both been excessively stressed and sleep deprived of late due to work and uni respectively... But our twinny time is the one thing that keeps the both of as going through the tough time.

100 Days of Productivity 76-78/100 Tuesday 24th - Thursday 26th April 2018, Tuesday was a long arse day!! It started with my Paramedic lecture which seemed to drag on for absolute ever. Then it was into an equal boring biosphere lecture. Before wrapping the day with the always amazing SCUPA mentoring session in our paramedic practice lab. After a long day and an afternoon Nanna nap, I packed up everything uni and made my way out to beautiful Malaney for study and drinks with Kat that would turn into a sleep over. Wednesday all about that bioscience study as we were madly revising for our mid semester exam on Thursday. So as you can imagine Thursday was rather stressful, although my exam was in my first class, so we got it over and done with. I think I did reasonably well, but I guess we'll wait and see. I got marks back for my Paramedic case study which I was very happy with, just managed to scarp in a High Distinction! I also got a distinction for a Paramedic quiz, and a high distinction for my psychology quiz. The night ended in out paramedic lab with all the CPR practice! It's left me bruised and sore, but it was a great night.

100 Days of Productivity 75/100 Monday 23rd April 2018, The day kicked off with the fam I'm our paramedic practice lab running scenarios and sharpening our skills. After a feed it was off to the worlds most BORING psychology lecture, in fact it was so awful we left halfway through. Although the day was not wasted, we gathered in the library to continue working our the many assessments we have on the go for just about every course. Then I made my way across town to the medical centre for a surgical consult to have the lump in my dads underarm removed so it can be sent for further tests. The day finished having dinner then going to the movies with the paramed fam. It was such a great night, so much fun and laughter! I could ask for a better group of people to call my friends! We finished up the night with a lovely moon lit walk along the beach and out onto the rock wall 💕

100 Days of Productivity 72-74 Friday 20th - Sunday 22nd April 2018, It's been a long, exhausting, and emotional weekend! Friday started at 730am as I was volunteering to play a 'patient' for the 2nd years clinical examination exams. Then it was on the road at 9am to attend a funeral an hour away. Afterwards I was off for another review with my wrist surgeon at 12pm. Then back home to take dad to his gp for some test results. Saturday was another early start for my first aid & CPR course that's mandatory for me to participate in my on-road paramedic prac at the end of the year. After finishing up at 4pm, I went home for a short break before heading of the the library at 7pm for another family night study sesh. It was a very productive, and long night, we worked through several assessments and studied for our upcoming bioscience exam. Kat and I stuck it out at the library until 130am before we finally called it quits. Sunday was a little more relaxed, which is definitely what I needed! I had a nice long sleep in before studying a couple hours at a time intermittently throughout the day.

100 Days of Productivity 71/100 Thursday 19th April 2018, Was a massive day at uni today... 2-4pm in the bioscience labs checking out different tissue samples with a light microscope. Then 4-5pm was a practice exam for my bioscience mid semester next week, I got 43/44, which I was exceptionally happy with!! After a much needed early dinner, it was into the paramedic lab from 6-9pm where we started working on our vital signs as part of our secondary survey. Then it was hands on in some scenarios where we got to link up our primary & secondary surveys in a more comprehensive way. After labs it was off to the library for a study session with the fam where I got 100% on my psych quiz, did more bioscience revision, and started on a report for my paramedic professional studies class. Sadly though, not all of the day was joyful. I got some sad news from my best friend that her dearly loved cat Matrix (or fatty cat as he's affectionately know) is having seizures and needs to be put down.
