you’re sitting across from me in a shitty diner in anywhere, america, and i watch you pour too much creamer in your coffee and i think “i love you.” you look up, catching me staring, and for a moment i think i’m brave enough to say it, but i take too long and the moment passes. i take the balled up straw wraper and flick it at you, pretending that was my plan all along. you laugh. i never want to go another day without hearing that laugh. i think i will have all the time in the world to say it.

Toni Morrison, a Nobel Laurete, an icon of the literary world, and an elder in the womanisn movement has died at the age of 88. Born Chloe Ardelia Wofford, Morrison was an unfailing leader in the push for Black women narratives and wrote such classics as Song of Solomon, Sula, and Beloved, the latter of which earned her a Pulitzer Prize. Much can be said about the transformative power of her works, but I’d rather leave you with her own words right now:

“You can’t fly with regrets of yesterdays on your wings.
You can’t fly if you’re still in love with that ex that’s bad for you. Give that shit up!
You can’t fly if you’re afraid of standing up and taking power. Give that shit up!
You can’t fly if you’re spending the time you should be using to fly on other less important things. Give that shit up!
Focus on flying, if you wanna to fly. Because if you really wanna fly, nothing should be able to stop you. And if you’re not flying, realize something is. And lose that shit!”

Rest in Power, Toni Morrison. Thank you for the gift of your words and the beauty of your life.

this is a message to most of the poto fandom:

tag your e/c.

this isn’t just me being my usual anti e/c asshole self. this is a legitimate request.

e/c makes up a good chunk of the phantom of the opera tag. i, and probably many others, do not want to see e/c. it’s an abusive ship in canon and can be upsetting or triggering.

i want to browse the phantom of the opera tag in peace without seeing a ship that upsets me.

this isn’t discourse. im not asking you to tag it because i personally don’t like it. i also personally don’t like madame giry x daroga, a fairly popular crackship/rarepair, but i don’t ask people to tag it.

the canonically abusive nature of e/c makes it an upsetting/triggering ship for some people and it should be tagged to make the phandom a safe and positive space for everyone.

again, im not trying to start discourse with this post. im simply asking a small favor to make this fandom a more enjoyable one.
