I have a question, is it rude to call Zayn Muslim if he has said he doesnt really believe anymore? I was reading an article on Dawn news about him and the comments were furious :/

Actually yes it is. It wouldn't be rude as much as it would be factually incorrect. If he's said as much then people should back off and respect that. Also while we're on the topic, we shouldn't assume anyone's choice of religion or belief system just bc they have a certain name or come from a certain country. Everyone's religion is different.

Hi! Is Gigi not Muslim? I assumed she is because her middle name is Noura and last name Hadid from the Quran? She probably doesn’t practice but still is Muslim right?

Having a Muslim name and being Muslim are two different things. Also her first name is not a Muslim name, doesn't matter what her middle and last names are. The middle name was likely given as a culture thing (most Muslim countries have the same culture and religion ties).

Most people who are non-Muslim but live and are a part of a Muslim cultured country do end up with Muslim names. That doesn't mean they're Muslim though. There are Christians in my country who name their kids an Islamic name (for whatever reasons that's up to them) but that doesn't make them a Muslim.

Yeah but like people who introduce themselves as Mo (I hate that so much omg) that doesn’t mean their name is not Muhammad it’s just a nickname? So their actual name is Muhammad and they go by Mo, could be similar with Khaira and they introduce her as Khai, whether or not someone likes it or not people still do it especially I’ve seen many Muslims in the UK do it. Just because someone has a nickname doesn’t mean they don’t also have a full Arabic name? I don’t really like nicknames of Arabic names personally, i have an Arabic name that’s hard to make a nickname out of so I’m glad lol

What kind of baby introduces itself as Mo? His parents would obviously introduce him to the world as that full name? I'm sure the baby isn't talking right now.

For everyone trying to reason with me that it's just a nickname, I hear you all! My point is you wouldn't really announce your baby's name as a nickname. Imagine if the royals had announced their baby girl's name as HERE'S LOTTIE. Which is now a hilarious image in my head.

Another point being I'm not actually called MS irl, I have a full name that I use in real life, that my real life friends and family call me. So why announce your baby's name as a nickname? But then still claim its cultured.

Bottom line: none of this ties back to Zayn.

It could be short for Khairah though which is an Arabic name?

I get that! But you can't name a whole new human a nickname of someone else? That child right now has no meaning to their name. Maybe that's how names work in the West but if you claim Asian/Arab roots then I'm sorry that name has now lost its original meaning.

People are saying it's a nickname for Khaira which is in the Qur'an as a description for Jannah but again even Zaneyah has a cuter name. The actual definition for Khaira is a woman who comes from a good and honorable lineage, who has a beautiful face, whose behavior is beautiful, who has a lot of wealth, and who is fertile.

LOL HELP US

I agree. Zayn's niece has a better name. It's the perfect example of 'something new but still tied back to culture'. What G has done here is take a perfect and beautiful name and completely butchered it just to make it stand out. Mind you, the minute you do that the name loses its meaning. This shortened version doesn't have the same meaning or even the new meaning that they're claiming. I've honestly never come across his niece's name but even I can tell how it's relevant in my culture/religion. This is something else entirely.

Someone indeed help us LMAO

Are you kidding me right now? Are we really doing this? 'Khai' means crowned one in what language again? Not traditional Arabic or Urdu like I learned it! I'm seeing some people claim that in Urdu it means ditch, which is only slightly true. Actually it means 'canyon' or 'chasm' on the side of a mountain that's man made due to people exploding chunks of rock to make roads and highways.

I doubt that that's what they meant when they chose the name LMAO. As for the Arabic context, traditional Arabic doesn't have this word in daily or verbal use neither is this word in the Holy Book. So pray tell me where they found this.

Some say it's a mish-mash of her relatives' names. So how tf does it have a meaning all of a sudden? That's not how language works.

A few searches in I found that it maybe has an Egyptian link to it? Not sure. All in all, I'm sick of non-cultured people coming in, claiming a name that means shit-all and then slapping a label of culture in it.

Wow, do better.
