"harry wasnt that powerful, he literally only knew 3 spells and had a horcrux in him and he wouldnt have survived without-"

listen to me, LISTEN TO ME

the boy was in survival mode for literally all of his life. almost all of his defense teachers tried to kill him. he was more worried about surviving the next voldy jumpscare. his "mentor" was raising him to die.

do u think he had the time to learn and master an arsenal of spells when everyone who was meant to help him are either dead or keeping him in the dark ? do u think he had the time to train when hes getting into life or death scenarios practically every year ?

he was a growing teen who had to deal with a murderer going after him, a world who thinks hes just off his rockers, adults who rarely take him seriously, the natural hormonal teen years, and the typical fights between friends who have vastly different life experiences but arent emotionally mature enough to address those yet . i dont think he even had that much positive reinforcement from everyone around him

stop calling harry james potter a weakass fuckass just because he doesnt have a shiny arsenal of weapons and the mind of a master strategist . thats literally a child and then a teen who keeps on getting retraumatised over and over and over, and you keep on taking the piss on him because he doesnt react like a levelheaded YA protagonist who has everything under control ?

hes just a dude who had to practically raise himself, who tries his goddamn best but fucks up constantly and is always haunted by his fuckups, and who still manages to get the job done at the end

AND EVEN AFTER THAT the people still put more responsibilities on his shoulders like "he couldve redid society with his influence" "he couldve done this he couldve done that" "he couldve done more"

how much more of himself does he have to give before society is satisfied ? why cant the adults take charge for once and rebuild the system that THEY broke ? why's it all on harry's shoulders ALONE ?

"he couldve used his influence-" did u conveniently forget how the wizarding world showed him over and over how easily their views and treatment of him cld change at the flip of a coin ? do u think he'd trust them to listen to him after all this time ? NO

like i get it, "chosen ones" have the influence and the responsibility . "chosen ones" should be powerful and their skills and abilities varied by the end of the series . they could do more and many chosen ones have done more . but harry's just part of the subset of chosen ones that is just tired and beat down at the end of the it all .

idk give him a break, hop off his back, let him retire to the countryside

looking at (vetted) gofundmes for people trying to escape palestine and i don't know how many of you actually click on the gofundme links you reblog but i would like to point out, for what it's worth, just how amazing it is that so many have raised so much money. it may overall feel like a drop in the ocean but the fact that several gofundmes have raised tens of thousands of dollars is amazing. it is so expensive to leave gaza right now, and people still need money after they escape. but regardless of what propaganda the US, UK, canada, and other western nations are trying to pump out, people across the world are doing what they can to help these people survive. many of them are still very far from their goals (like this one and this one and this one) and some of them are very close to high goals (like this one), and some of them have reached almost double their original goal.

and that's not even addressing direct aid or organizations that take continuous donations for distribution of food, menstrual products, etc. the PCRF has raised $16,000,000 of their target goal of $20,000,000 to fund current aid and long-term relief efforts in gaza. ANERA's febuary 13th update discusses the material ways they helped palestinians today:

my point is, it often feels like the world is turning a blind eye to palestine. but i would like to point out that there is an important difference between "the world" and "western political leaders and media narratives". a breathtaking amount of real people, the people who make up the world, are trying to help. in the face of israel attempting to commit genocide, the world is saying No. These people deserve to live. and literally sending millions of dollars internationally, through the internet connection that israel has desperately been trying to destroy.

it may not feel like it matters in the grand scheme of things. but to the people who get fresh clothes, or a hot meal, or blankets, or the kids who get new toys, or to the people who are able to bring their families to safety, it matters to them. go make someone's day better. i've linked so many options with ways to do that.

Palestinians are not "animals."

They are not "children of darkness."

Little kids are rescuing cats and trying to comfort them when they themselves are terrified.

A doctor broke down when his father and brother came into the trauma unit.

And several of his colleagues hugged and gathered to comfort him.

Journalists are playing with babies.

Doctors are refusing to evacuate hospitals because their patients can't and refuse to leave them.

There's a little boy who gives tea to the journalists and thanks them for spreading their stories.

He's displaced at the hospital, his home is gone.

A kid was asked what he wants to be when he grows up and he said kids in Gaza don't grow up.

Kids are writing their names on their arms so they can be identified.

Momin Kireka is a Palestinian journalist who was disabled by an Israeli attack in 2008.

And despite the difficulty in moving around, he vows to continue to show the world the truth.

Awni, a young Palestinian boy has a gaming YouTube channel he loved so much.

He was killed in the bombing.

Mohammed Sami was an artist who's dream was to open an art gallery.

He was playing with the kids to raise their spirits. And the next day he was killed.

They are victims.

They are going through unimaginable horrors and still find it in their hearts to be kind.

They have hopes and dreams just like you and I.

They are people.

And they deserve to be recognised and known as such.

The UNRWA is concerned that if they do not receive more funding they will run out by the end of February please spread this message

in case any of you missed it, despite the ICJ's ruling for Israel to facilitate MORE aid into Gaza, the global west has responded by cutting funding to UNWRA, which is responsible for delivering significant amounts of aid into Gaza, as well as surrounding areas such as Lebanon. The countries cutting funding consist of the US, Australia, the UK, the Netherlands, Swritzerland, Italy, Germany, Finland, Canada and Japan. This was all due to a claim by Israel that members of UNWRA were Hamas-members or sympathisers which, at the end of the day, is a claim that concerns only 12 members in a total of 30,000.

Without proper funding, UNWRA is likely to run out of resources by February of this year (only another month) and urges the countries that have suspended donations to reconsider. This is a blatant move from the colonialist countries of this world to starve Palestinians even further when they are already facing unforeseen levels of famine.

Please take some time out of your day to call your reps, your political leaders and urge them to restart their funding. In the meantime, here is a link to donate to the UNWRA.

I recently finished Never Mind the Bollocks by The_Sinking_Ship. Since that day, it has been living in my head rent-free, and will remain there. Perhaps for a long, long time.

Every time I try to collect my thoughts to articulate every single thing I loved about a fic, I just end up screaming and dying with the feels. So instead of words, here’s some drawn lines (and more screaming).

Special thanks to @royaljellybeans for being my personal assistant and making my life less of a living hell during the two weeks it took to translate this beast! I’d also like to thank my proofreaders; I won’t name them because of the shit they might get for assisting in the translation of such a controversial ship when they aren’t even that involved with the fandom, but thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Lastly, please don’t attack anyone; if you must verbally abuse someone over ethics and morality and shipping, please do so in my ask box and not anyone else’s.

Enjoy! If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask!

ok I know it's very random but I just need to know ur thoughts abt the fandom and their thoughts abt bakugou, like idk how to explain it but i feel the fandom won't accept bakugou's charadev even when the manga finishes and showed us diff bakugou, i feel like the fandom..y'know won't accept his charadev bc of the ancient chaps and I don't know how to feel abt this bc do they know that ppl can CHANGE??

hello! thanks for stopping by. this isn’t random at all, and i understand your concerns.

to believe in bakugou’s chara, we have to invest in redemption. the problem is as you mentioned— we’re so hung up on “people don’t change” that we don’t believe them when they do.

bakugou is a complex and heavily flawed character. he’s hard to decipher, usually putting on a front for one thing when he means something else, and that’s led him to suffer the brunt of face value. granted, he was kind of a jackass in the beginning of the series, but i’m guessing herein lies your problem… how much will he have to change for people to forget that?

those who’re interested in bakugou, who believe in him, who’ve invested in redemption, are catching the changes he’s going through. and anon, they’re so HEAVY. his ego alone is being reformed mercilessly. over the course of 101 chapters we’ve seen him knocked down multiple pegs, lose, get punched in the gut and then the fucking face (literally), kidnapped by dangerous criminals, chained up. those who’re adamant in calling him “karma houdini” just because he hasn’t very explicitly been “punished” for “what he’s done” to midoriya need to understand that’s… not how writing works. the environment, as carefully written by horikoshi, is going to decide how bakugou will realize his mistakes. if bakugou has what he needs, has what it takes as a character to grow from this, he will respond. in fact, he’s already started— though i could go on for ages about bakugou’s charadev over the whole series, the recent chaps seem to bring it all to a head. from noticing izuku’s crying after the symbol of piece “died”, thanking toshinori, to not only showing clear concern for the class/kirishima but acting upon it… just. look at him!).

if it’s only about the punishing... if people are so angry at bakugou for being a bad kid, yet they refuse to accept the manga itself when it’s repeatedly telling us he’s not, that there’s something else to him, well. that’s their headache then, isn’t it?

okay, now that i’m done ranting— much of the problem you bring up in your message has to do with how young bnha is as a series. horikoshi has stated himself that he thinks he’s approximately 25% done (i don’t have the links w/ me atm, lmk if u want me to pull it up), but he’s also aware it feels much shorter in theory than it ends up being in practice. in other words, what could be 300 chapters may as well end up being 500. we don’t know. what we do know is it’s far from over. that being said, we don’t know how much more bakugou’s going to grow, and to what extent. whether or not this involves a game-changing development that’ll destroy the jackass from vol 1, idk. i’ve had enough experience with fandom to understand that if a writer doesn’t take care of their characters, the fans surely won’t. thus far horikoshi has been very competent. lol, he’s even said “i’ll treat [bakugou’s] character with care”. just by looking at the direction his character is headed atm, i predict bakugou will, as the series progresses, garner enough support to match (if not outmatch) those who hate him. (we may not be able to compile a solid list of redeeming things bakugou has done to prove to a stubborn/aggressive fan that he’s changing just yet, but we have enough to prove that he’s good. in-universe, people like aizawa and all might consistently believe in him. his development and specifically his future cooperation with midoriya has been explicitly foreshadowed. if anyone on this godforsaken site wants a fight, they can have a good one.) (or they can wait for an even better one.)

tl;dr i can’t foresee developments, obviously, but the text has given us many reasons to believe big ones are in store, and i have a solid belief in bnha’s competency. there are lots of people who think similar! i urge you to as well. bnha’s fandom has (as far as i’ve seen) been quite tame? but pls, if the fandom here is tiring you, i would focus on narrowing in on likeminded posts/people (both on this site and others) and building a community around them. it’s made my life much easier.

it’s so interesting coming back to old posts like this and seeing how RIGHT we were about so many things. it took a long time, and i can’t rly describe how surreal it is to be at a point in the story where my wildest wishes for kacchan as a character have all come true… and then some.

usually when thinking to the future like this for any series, like most of yall, i’ve built a habit of a little healthy (sometimes unnecessary) cautiousness. i’m someone who gets very easily emotionally invested in these things, so it’s a measure i take mostly to protect my heart, u know. so u can imagine how fucking delightful it is to revisit one of my absolute favourite characters ever and find that he was handled so faithfully, carefully, lovingly.

for example, the apology. the consensus among older bkdks was that kacchan is an actions over words/acts of service kind of guy, and that if he were to address the past in any way, he’d be most likely to DO it as opposed to SAY it. a verbal apology would be amazing, but many of us were under the impression that this was a little too much to ask for. later, when hori himself expressed that he intended to write an apology, fantastic! but i literally had no idea how he would go about doing it. the apology itself hit me straight outta left field. who would have thought?? the subtle beauty of bkg being an actions over words character stepping out of his usual patterns of behaviour to, in a moment of such raw sincerity, address and express care for deku with his words?? pointedly and deliberately illustrating each feeling, shifting his tone into something gentler. and in so doing, juxtaposing himself so beautifully against deku, who was stuck in a cycle of forcing his feelings down to do what needed to be done. this contrast is what i LIVE FOR!!!!!

like what else is there left to say. with bnha in its final arc and bkg’s character journey nearing full circle, it’s so refreshing and honestly… touching, to be able to relax my grip on caution a little bit and enjoy things as they come
