Masterlist of Fics

If you want to see the stuff that I'm even remotely proud of, you can find it here:

Louder Than Love - (Rated E, 105,975 words - WIP.)

Poly!Wolfstar+Tonks, OotP fix-it. If you like music references, nuanced family relationships, and banter (omg so much banter) then you may like this one. I'm honestly pretty proud of how this one is coming out overall, now that I'm getting into a groove. Contains fluff, humor, and angst. (18+, mind the tags.)

Satellites series - (Varying lengths and ratings.)

All the fun little one-shots and drabbles I've posted on here end up under this heading, with some cool moon references added for extra tone. You'll find the Beater!Remus drabble in here, as well as the Peter fics. Fluff and angst mostly (some humor here and there.) The majority is Wolfstar; there is one in there that is Poly!Wolfstar+Tonks. Also some art!

Ouroboros - (Rated T, 12,393 words.)

Remus taking care of his estranged father at the end of Lyall's life, and having to come to terms with his own feelings. Extremely angsty, extremely unreliably narrated. Technically part of the Satellites series; this is a divergence from the LTL plotline (so same background for Remus) and directly references it in parts. Can be read on its own just fine.

A Matter of Interpretation - (Rated M, 2,183 words.)

My interpretation of what actually happened with "the prank." Attempts to address the reality of hot-headed teenagers and their behavior. Literally no one comes out of this clean. It's angsty, but in a matter-of-fact kind of way.

for him. - (Rated T, 6.090 words.)

Remus & Harry bonding time. Realistic "pranks" that have nothing to do with magic and everything to do with Teenagers Doing Dumb Teenager Shit. Simple but candid discussions of sexuality. Also one of my favorite Remus vs Snape scenes I've ever written. Wolfstar, but no prior relationship. Mostly humor with a bit of reasonable angst.

Remus and Sirius making gingerbread men, but also a little bit Remus having no patience for the gender binary. Wolfstar with background Hinny. Humor and fluff with an undercurrent of angst.

three knocks upon the door - (Rated E, 6,998 words.)

A dark casefic that goes wildly off the rails, and my first foray into femslash. A rare Lily/Tonks with low key background Wolfstar! (And another rarepair, if you squint!) Possibly one of my favorite fics I've ever written. 18+, please mind the tags!!

Where the Wild Thyme Grows - (Rated M, 7,000 words.)

My first ever high fantasy fic! Featuring Dad!Sirius and a slightly unhinged Remus (and we love him for it.) Also Arthur and Molly being adorable together. It is a horror fic, though, so be warned! Dark themes and graphic depictions of injuries within.

Applied Theory - (Rated M, 5,428 words - WIP)

My Wolfstar Enemies-to-Lovers Academia AU! Raw posted here and ported straight to AO3. French!Sirius and Welsh!Remus. Includes technical discussions of magical theory (occasionally AP formatted), Shenanigans, and more French dialogue than I had any right using. Great fun though. :)

There’s no such thing as work-life balance for neurodivergent & chronically ill people.

This is because everything in my life requires work:

  • maintaining friendships
  • keeping up with my hygiene
  • managing bills
  • making money
  • remembering my basic needs
  • sleeping regularly
  • outputting creatively

All requires some aspect of work for me.

And when everything in your life requires work, your balance goes out the window.

If you're neurodivergent and overwhelmed — I see you.

If you're chronically ill and overwhelmed — I see you.

You're not dysfunctional.

You're not incapable.

You're doing your best.

OK so regarding US State Regions.

This is the OFFICIAL breakout of where things are. I would put Maryland and Delaware in a very highly contested position between the northeast and the south, but otherwise the regions are solid.

The divisions are where I start taking some issues, particularly with the northeast. Personally, I'd pull Maryland and Delaware up into the Middle Atlantic region and give New York to New England. This is, as I mentioned in the poll tags, due to more cultural differences than anything else. My experience with these three states tells me they're in the wrong position. That said, I live in what's technically a "border" area, so my perception of what is and is not culturally normal for each division could potentially be skewed.

What do you all think?

Avatar

I know a poll that's about defining regions of the united states having answers that are based on these vague squishy regions of the united states is probably bad science but I want to see if there's a pattern here based on where you're from and if you think maryland is the south.

no see results options I dislike those.

Expanding a thought from a conversation this morning:

In general, I think "Is X out-of-character?" is not a terribly useful question for a writer. It shuts down possibility, and interesting directions you could take a character.

A better question, I believe, is "What would it take for Character to do X?" What extremity would she find herself in, where X starts to look like a good idea? What loyalties or fears leave him with X as his only option? THAT'S where a potentially interesting story lies.

In practice, I find that you can often justify much more from a character than you initially dreamed you could: some of my best stories come from "What might drive Character to do [thing he would never do]?" As long as you make it clear to the reader what the hell pushed your character to this point, you've got the seed of a compelling story on your hands.

this connects to some REALLY good writing advice i remember from @batshaped

Characters are contradictory, just like people are. What would it take for them to do the thing they've told themselves they'd never do, and how would they try to justify it?

So what I'm hearing is, "Under what circumstances would he fucking do that?"

Firefighter demonstrates how to put out a kitchen fire

Reblog to actually save a life

To explain. The latter works because you’re cutting off the supply of oxygen to the fire and suffocating it

as opposed to slapping oxygen inside the pan with the downward motion

Reblogging, because this is so important. When I was learning how to cook for myself in my tweens, I had at least a five years of fire safety seminars from school drilling this into my head, and I STILL had that instinctive put-the-fire-out-with-water reflex. Didn’t even think. I saw our oily burner catch fire after frying eggs, whipped around towards the sink for water, and my brain immediately screamed NO!!! NO WATER! I mean that fire safety stuff straight up bitchslapped me out of REFLEXIVELY setting my house on fire. I found a pot lid and inched it over the burner before turning off the heat. Even if you think you know this stuff, panic is powerful shit. Make knowledge more powerful.

Hirsutism: body hair growth in a male-like distribution on female people (eg. afab people having coarse hair on their chin, chest, back, buttocks, thighs…). Caused by an increase in hormones called androgens, your body being more sensitive to them, or both. Source (derogatory)

Today I was thinking about that time my endocrinologist went on for 15 minutes about how the only way I’d ever be hairless would be by doing laser hair removal… Even after I’d told him several times I wasn’t interested in removing my body hair at all. Since I can’t go back in time to ask him this exact question, I thought I’d make a banner.

And because I know doctors, and people in general, love to assume so many other human characteristics are tragedies to the people who have them, here are a few more banners to go with it:

(Image descriptions available in alt text)

Feel free to use these (credit appreciated) and to request a different banner if you want to!

the problem with autism is sometimes you want to do something (brave) but you need someone to gently walk you through each step so you know what will happen. and people don’t like doing that

i had to phone a taxi today, scary

every time i see this post i think of that person who posted on reddit that they wanted to go to subway for the first time but they were scared they would say the wrong thing so someone gave them step by step instructions for the entire process and what all the choices would be and when they would ask what question and i just think

someone will

someone out there will see you and say "yes. the world is scary. but let me hold your hand and show you how to do it anyways"

everyone needs that someone, and everyone can be that someone

The subreddit r/explainlikeimscared is a surprisingly good resource for this. People are always very kind and thorough from what I've seen, and I spend a decent amount of time there giving walkthroughs and answering questions when I know the process.

Remus would be the type to lock his keys in the car with it running, go back inside to beg his spare key off of Sirius, and then pitch a fit because Sirius claims he doesn't have it when he knows perfectly damn well he gave Sirius a spare.

Meanwhile Sirius would be going through his mental catalogue of everywhere he has ever stored a key, physically checking all of those places just in case, but also knows for a FACT that no, the key lived on the hook in the kitchen because why would I need the key to YOUR car, Remus? and that Remus himself had in fact taken it off that hook at one point because he'd misplaced his primary while he was running late and couldn't be arsed to go looking for it. That he'd since forgotten that he'd done so was decidedly Not Sirius' Problem, and yet here they were.

Most likely, such a situation would result in Remus taking Sirius' car to go pick up whatever it was he was running out for in the first place, and hope that his car's auto shut-off works (we are assuming a modern situation here; otherwise he'd just run out of gas, and sucks to suck.) He will then probably tear the house apart looking for his original spare key upon his return, find it somewhere utterly stupid in his work area, and spend the rest of the day sulking and steadfastly pretending that the situation wasn't entirely his own damn fault.

(What he certainly will not ever do is call someone to let him into his car. That is for last resort, life-or-death situations only, and only if it's not his own life or death at stake.)

I am also going to follow this up with the Remadora version, which is far less organized and peaceful, because Tonks absolutely would not put up with that shit (but also would have been equally likely to have misplaced the key.) That said, she'd also be far less willing to let him suffer for his own sins and would probably break into his car for him. She'd also probably wind up damaging it in the process.

They'd find the key in the fridge for some reason. Neither of them knows who put it there, but they both suspect the other.

(It was Tonks.)
