To my followers who might’ve thought this was fake: this was very real and it happened to me. Just over a month ago, I was part of my university’s queer magazine winter print which was themed “Freaks”. An acquaintance of mine works in the magazine and thought that I was perfect for the print, given my style. And so I took some pictures on a Saturday afternoon with a few other odd queers around my college campus. The print had op-eds from queer writers around campus, all centered on the “freaks” theme. I wrote a little bit about my style, and how I arrived there.
It’s a really small magazine. Not even my friends, who go to the same university, had ever even heard of this magazine until I was on it. This isn’t a popular publication at all.
And Fox News fucking talked about us on Monday (April 22nd). We think this has something to do with an ongoing protest on campus, which was also scheduled to start on Monday. Many universities have been doing pro-Palestine encampments on campus to demand their universities divest from Israel, which has made these campuses targets for Fox News. Columbia did it before my university, and Fox News was also digging up random shit about Columbia to make the entire student body seem like “crazy wokesters”.
And when my university, UCLA, started a similar protest, there I was on Fox News. The face of “crazy liberal” UCLA. The tool conservative media is using to “smear” my entire university.
What a fun thing to wake up to one morning before class.
