Water is Thicker Than Blood Chapter 50
Well hi there, Ace!

What if i nuanced your 1 dimensional villains? what would you do?
was on a big kingdom hearts kick for a second
my fav gif is still the one where the two dudes are at a sports game and one guy randomly shows up and aggressively starts to make out with one of the first two people and then the camera zooms in to the other guy, whose face shows complete confusion and terror at the gay that just went down
for all those who have no idea what heโs talking about
THATS THE ONE
saw a one piece live action character impressions post that pegged luffy as having daddy issues which is hilarious to me because luffy has, like, the opposite of daddy issues. he has daddy solutions. if you hang out with luffy long enough, your father-related angst starts to resolve. this has happened to multiple characters.
i cant believe its one piece of all anime that gets to break the live action adaptation curse. this is so funny. the most unadaptationable anime is the one that. fucking . makes it. my face hurts from laughing and smiling too much. everyone did their damn thing. whatever criticism we lob at this thing doesn't fucking matter anymore. people dont get it. but i do. the goal of a live action adaptation, first and foremost, is to make me, specifically, fall in love with the story and characters all over again. and i did.
โif you take medication for that, youโll be taking medication all your life!!โ yeah, and?? bud, i already put on my glasses every morning. itโs like. a condition of mine, not a side hobby iโm pursuing irresponsibly.ย
and the thrilling sequel:ย โtaking meds for that is the easy way out!โ right you are my dude, iโm a huge fan of not making things harder than they have to be
The Live Action Disney remakes do NOT demonstrate any level of understanding of the original content.
- Belle likes to read because she likes the idea of adventure in the great wide somewhere, not because sheโs a feminist who believes in overturning the patriarchy by learning to read. Then she learns that giving up your life for someone else and looking past the surface of people is the best adventure she can get.
- Cruella isโand I cannot stress this enoughโa crazy puppy-skinning self-obsessed maniac with no discernible care for anybody but herself. She is not a tragic young woman looking to find herself.
- Simba doesnโt think poorly of himself: he thinks about himself too much. When heโs a cub he thinks about how heโll grow up and get to do everything his own way, and when heโs an adult he thinks he should get to stay in the jungle without anybody telling him how to live his life. Heโs always hiding from responsibility. His reasons for doing it just go from childish entitlement to crippling guilt until Rafiki and Mufasaโs ghost knock some sense into him. But until then, heโs always thinking about how he shouldnโt have to take any responsibility. Thatโs how he runs from who he isโnot because heโs ashamed of who he is, but because who he is requires responsibility. - Genie wants to be free more than all the wonders and all the riches in all the world. He would never tell Prince Aliย โI donโt care anything about that wish.โ If he had said anything like that in the original movie, half the weight of his actually being set free in the finale would be gone. Meaningless.
- Mulan is a klutz who had to learn discipline; she was absolutely not born with a convenient superpower for fighting. - Jasmine does not want to be Sultan. She wants to be free. She wants to be normal. She wants to be known. Sheโs caring enough toward normal peasants to hand them an apple when she notices theyโre hungry; sheโs naive and sheltered enough to forget that everything has to be paid for, even apples. - Mulan is a homebody who loves her family enough to risk her life for them; she does not dream of leaving them to have her own adventures and thrills, not even as a child.
- Lady doesnโt teach Tramp how to have self-worth by helping her owners to adopt him after his original owner abandoned him. Actually, the original Lady teaches Tramp, who was never abandoned but instead takes advantage of several human families and lady-dogs alike, the value of commitment and loyalty.ย
- Maleficent lives alone in a crumbling tower with nobody but a pet raven. Flora, Fauna, and Merrywhether work together and love each other and stay with one another. Maleficent is petty, holding centuries-long grudges and never forgetting an offense. Flora, Fauna and Merrywhether are selfless, giving up their whole lives and all their magic to raise a child that isnโt even theirs in a poor cottage. Maleficent is cruel enough to kill all her own minions and doom an innocent child and chain a lovelorn prince to a wall while she tells him all about his doomed love. Flora, Fauna, and Merrywhether are compassionate enough to bake a cake and make a dress with no magic and endless trouble for Briar Roseโs birthday, even while they wipe away tears at the thought of giving her back to her parents.ย Maleficent shouldnโt get to be the villainess andย heroine and the lover and the mother and the guardian of nature, while Flora, Fauna and Merrywhether get reduced to annoying stabs at comic relief.ย ย Flora, Fauna, and Merrywhether protect and nurture nature, while Maleficent kills flowers and children. Thatโs the story. You lose all the compare-contrast when you make Maleficent the only character.
- The Beast doesnโt just allow Belle to trick her father into letting her take her fatherโsย place. He realizes Belle could break the curse, not because sheโs a girl who found his castle, but because sheโs a girl who is selfless and loving enough to say something likeย โtake me instead.โ He makes her promise to stay forever; he would never say that her love for her father makes her a fool, because that type of love is what heโs banking on to break his own curse.
- Aladdin would never sayย โโI basically am a Prince.โ His whole problem is that he knows, all too well, who he truly is, and itโs not the kind of guy who can be Sultan. He wonโt set the Genie free because he canโt make himself pretend otherwise and thinks he needs help.
- Alice starts the movie by saying she wishes she could literally have a world where everything is done her way, then ends it by running out of that world for her life from a mad Queenโฆwho ALSO wants everything done her way. It is just not a story about a young lady remembering who she really is (muchness) and embracing her inner crazy. Itโs the opposite of that.
- Belle would never plan to escape when she gave her word that she would take her fatherโs place. Belle would never prioritize her own freedom over the Beastโs happiness.ย
Disney producers keep trying to adapt their old stories toย โโupdatedโ values, and it will never work. The values that made characters like Belle and Mulan so enduring are totally incompatible with the bilge that gets printed on sassy t-shirts and Facebook statuses today.
A book with a first person narrator what describes everything with oddly specific clarifications and denials, coming completely unprompted.
"I poured myself a bowl of cereal that had no cockroaches in it."
"Her hair - which was real human hair, growing naturally from her own scalp - was brown."
"I walked to my car which I legally owned and whose rightful ownership had never been under question or dispute."
"Their dog was barking in a way that is entirely normal for a regular, full-blooded dog, and could not be mistaken for the vocalisations of a half-wolf, a jackal, or perhaps a hyena."
"My mother - who has never been convicted or imprisoned for manslaughter - emerged from the kitchen."

Is it just me or are the new tumblr users convinced there's a penalty of some kind for using this site like it's meant to be used?
reblogs have always been in short supply for artists, sadly, but it's hitting the shitposts and even the cat pictures lately. Gotta keep getting the word out that reblogs are good and keep people posting new material that will be passed around for the next 12 years
Theyโre used to other social media sites, where the only equivalent of reblogging is straight-up content theft; so the idea that you can put someone elseโs stuff on your page and have it not be a bad thing is a strange experience for them.
Theyโre likely also used to an algorithm recommending content based on what they hit โlikeโ on, so they probably think that thatโs how this works, too.
