Until now, Shen Qiao knows that he feels something towards YWS ✨💖 But he hasn’t labeled it as love 😫 Yan Wushi has betrayed him, abandoned him, sold him for a sword (that he doesn’t use), but after YWS acknowledges SQ as someone with an immovable will, someone pure and kind, he starts treating him with kindness, he stops forcing him, he tries to please him and to tease him gently. YWS tease is still oppressive, but it also allows SQ the opportunity to retreat, and to say no to his advances. AND SHEN QIAO DOESN’T RETREAT!!!! From what we have seen so far, SQ knows YWS’s tendency to flirt and search for physical contact, but SQ thinks of this as a part of YWS’s personality. So when YWS pushes him into a kiss SQ is like: “Ohh my friend here doesn’t know how to behave, this idiot knows no limits,” BUT!!!!! BECAUSE HE ACCEPTS YWS FOR WHO HE IS, HE ALSO ACCEPTS THE KISSES AND THE CARESSES. We have seen SQ searching for YWS among people, he gets worried if YWS gets injured or feels uncomfortable, he doesn’t admit that YWS is handsome and pleasant to look at (he qualifies him as average, as nothing special lmao,) but in the end, SQ likes and enjoys to see him 😏 Their relationship at this point works as follows: YWS teases SQ –> SQ gets angry –> SQ spits blood –> SQ blushes with irritation, and threats YWS with leaving –> YWS composes his behavior –> YWS gets all soft and sweet with him –> SQ relaxes –> YWS search for physical contact or a positive reaction of SQ –> SQ responds positive and allows YWS to touch him –> YWS does a sneak attack that pushes them further into the “physical contact” –> SQ’s brain gets short circuit, once he realizes what are they doing he retreats to run away –> SQ blames YWS and thinks to himself “I’d never get close to him again” –> after a while, SQ remembers what happened between them ad thinks “actually that was kind of cute, kind of adorable, I had no idea that YWS could be that gentle”

I haven’t finished it because I’m reading the translation of SassyStrawberry, their last update was 26/02/2022 and it was chapter 126 😭

I don’t dare and want to read the work of any other translator, Sassy gives an amazing insight into the idioms of the novel, it helps to understand and interpret correctly what the author meant.  I can’t wait to read about SQ finally admitting his feelings, PLEASE!!!! MY SOUL NEEDS IT!!! 😭 I will post again once Sassy updates 🤍

In this sense, the passage both forms a contrast with the turmoil and suffering of Chu Wanning’s later life and hints at it.

“Wanning” (晚宁) means “peace at evening,” but could also mean “peace that comes late/belated peace.” This second meaning of CWN’s name is suggested in chapter 279 where the brief period of peace that Chu Wanning and Mo Ran shared together before Mo Ran’s death is described as 晚来的安宁, “peace that comes late.” Chu Wanning’s name is embedded in the description as the first and last characters of the phrase together form “wanning.“ For Chu Wanning, peace does come very late after two lifetimes of mistakes, torments and miseries, but it’s not too late fortunately.

Its really interesting how taxian jun only ever refers to himself as "this Venerable One" and rarely ever says "I" or "me" unless his emotions are out of control, how he refuses to be addressed by his name. he allows empress song to call him a-ran but only because he's desperately trying to cling to shi mei and how loved shi mei made him feel. but sometimes he can't stand when she calls him that. it really goes to show how traumatic it is for him to be cursed. his actions are his but they aren't his. he needs to be someone else to be able to deal with the pain his actions cause him. its too hard for him to be the same Mo Ran. the same Mo Weiyu. he has to be someone else to survive. its easier to burn down the world as the tyrant emperor Taxian Jun than the gentle cultivator Mo Weiyu.

the only person who is allowed to call him his name is chu wanning. as far as I can remember he never forces him to call him anything else. I think even though he hates himself and hates his actions so much he has to be a different person... Chu Wanning reminds him thats its okay to be himself, maybe even brings him a bit of comfort after all the damage he has done. reminds him that he’s hasn’t lost himself. despite pushing mo ran down he still exists and is still worthy of love

especially in post canon. Chu Wanning asks why he still calls himself 'this venerable one' and then txj says 'I really missed you' because with Chu Wanning being Mo Ran is safe. Chu Wanning reminds him that its okay to be Mo Ran

For people who read 2ha, the title of chapter 123 “Shizun Entered My Dreams, Aware that I Think of Him Always” is based on the third line of this poem.
