The way they think me leaving was the issue is wiiild. Like babes, no, the problem is that you let racism and zionism run wild in your organization and continue to do so.
I left because I was horrified by the org and all of the racism they promised to work on but never ever did. I left because CCAP warnings were doled out based on vibes and nothing else, and when you ask clarifying questions they take you on months-long wild goose chases of conversations where they constantly dodge valid questions about why you were sent a warning in the first place. I left because leadership was never held accountable and people could blatantly defend a genocide with no repercussions.
I, and many others, left because the OTW is toxic and racist to its core. And if you stay there long enough, it becomes far too much to bear.
I don’t think the OTW will ever be able to acknowledge that they have systemic problems. It really is just a place for middle aged white liberals. Don’t fit that mold? You’re going to have the worst experience of your life volunteering for them.
@ao3org Maybe stop lying to people about what the problem here is, because my resignation is not the issue. Twisting the narrative to make yourselves come across as a neutral party is insufferably predictable, and so are your half-assed responses that exemplify how little you understand about the depth of the problems within your organization. That is why the organization will never change, no matter what silly little audits you do. You allowed blatant harassment and slander of me in the public board channel to go unchecked. You allowed people to continue denying genocide and downplaying the deaths of tens of thousands of people. You allowed people to post things about why decolonization is bad, put that shit in their profiles, continue perpetuating that idea—and you think you’re innocent here? Give me a fucking break.
And before you tell me I should have reported these things to you—what would that have done? After turning a blind eye to this for over a month? When I did contact a chair over this, the response was dismissive and blamed me for causing trouble by confronting these horrifying talking points and announcing my support of Palestine.
Anyway, from the river to the sea, Palestine WILL BE FREE. And I pray that all colonial states and institutions burn.
