At this point I'm unfriending/blocking any egyptian who has concerns about palestinians coming to egypt beyond "are we aiding ethnic cleansing?" which we do either way.

this is so fucking rich considering they are the ones using our tax dollars to slaughter Palestinians and funding the rise in Islamophobia 🙄

Mirna_elhelbawi and a team of people are still working at getting esims to Gazans, if you are able please consider buying a plan and send it to the email listed above and on her Instagram. They have been working tirelessly for the past days to ensure that Palestinians can contact their friends and families amid the continued displacement and horrors they are experiencing minute by minute. Last I heard these plans people were still able to access internet when israel cut it and all communications a couple days ago and it is vital as some areas are still experiencing difficulties. Please check out her page for any updates as they continue to post more and answer questions 🙏🇵🇸

The new fabricated piece of Israeli atrocity propaganda, that Hamas baked a baby in an oven, is lifted directly from Palestinian survivor testimonies about what Zionist militants did during the Deir Yassin massacre of 1948.

[Warning, explicit descriptions of torture and violence.]

“I saw the Zionist terrorist soldiers ordering the bakery man of the village to throw his son in the oven and burn him alive. The son is holding the clothes of his father tightly and crying from fear and pleading to his father not to do it. The father refuses and then the soldiers hit him in his gut so hard it caused him to fall on the floor. Other soldiers held his son, Abdel Rauf, and threw him in the oven and told his father to toast him well-done meat. Other soldiers took the baker himself , Hussain al-Shareef, and threw him, too, in the oven, telling him, “follow your son, he needs you there”. - Testimonial from Othman Akel, recorded in Palestine Rising: How I survived the 1948 Deir Yasin Massacre (2010).

Like the saying goes, "every Zionist accusation is a confession."

It almost makes me wonder if it's part of a deliberate tactic to obfuscate search engine results. Because if you now search for something like say, 'Israeli solider put child in oven,' all the top results will be about Hamas, not Deir Yassin.

Here are some of the names and stories of the over 5700 Palestinians killed by israeli air strikes. Half of them are children. Share this as much as you can. Remember us, we are not numbers.

The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine, by Ilan Pappé (2006)

Just a reminder that Israel was built, by design, on ethnic cleansing.

When Palestinians, who by 1947 were used to their country being passed from one ruler to another, didn't react to the UN partition with lasting mass acts of violence — they had, of course, no idea that the coming Israeli rulers would be the ones to force them from their land — the Zionist leadership were not relieved, but disappointed, as the lackluster Arab response didn't give them the pretext (i.e. the 'opportune moment') they needed for their ethnic cleansing

But, even in the absence of retaliatory pretext, the Zionist leadership still ramped up the violence; in part, by embracing a new tactic of intimidation:

For those asking about resources to learn more about Palestine, the Palestinian Feminist Collective had shared the below toolkit which I think is neat.

We call upon all our communities and co-strugglers to take immediate action: to get informed, to spread awareness, to speak out and up, to organize, mobilize, and to commit to standing on the right side of history. This toolkit is an offering and invitation to all lovers of freedom to join or deepen your engagement in the struggle for Palestinian liberation at this critical moment.
We are currently witnessing all the forces of empire mobilize against the Palestinian people, and our steadfast struggle for freedom. The genocide in the Gaza Strip is a continuation of a concerted campaign the Zionist settler colonial regime has been waging against Palestinian bodies, land, and culture for nearly a century. In just the first six days of this assault, Israeli Occupation Forces dropped more than 6,000 bombs on Palestinians in Gaza-amounting in strength to one quarter of a nuclear bomb. The relentless aerial bombardment has targeted all life, killing more than 7,000 Palestinians, including close to 3,000 children.

This baby remained under the rubble for six hours. Read it again. By some miracle, he survived and he was rescued. But his mother who was holding him didn't. He looks like he's in shock, you can see tears coming out of his eyes but no expression or any sound to indicate his pain.

We are not numbers. Make an effort to end this.

Is there anything I can do to help Palestinians besides call my representatives and beg them to stop killing people?

This is a great question. There are a few things you can do—just off the top of my head:

  • BDS (Boycott, Divest, Sanction) https://bdsmovement.net/
  • Direct Action https://www.palestineaction.org/
  • Urge your University/School/Organization to put out a statement denouncing Israel
  • Organize a Protest/Participate in a local one
  • You might already be doing this but while calling your reps, tell them that as a voter, you're unwilling to support them in the upcoming election unless they urge the White House to take a stand against Israel and stop funding them
  • Share art/writing/films around Palestinian culture
  • If you're part of a union, ask them what they're doing to urge their industry leaders to take a stand against Israel + pressure the White House OR urge them to start a strike/walkout/etc if they're not doing anything already
  • Talk with your friends IRL about Palestine, whether in an activist capacity or watching a movie or literally anything
  • Reach out to a mosque to see if you can help them with anything
  • See if your city/state council has put out a statement in support of Gazans. If not, try to push them to do so.
  • Donate to Palestine Legal or Direct Action if you have some money to spare
  • KEEP TALKING ON SOCIAL MEDIA!!!!!!!! PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know some of these don't feel like they have as big of an impact on helping Palestinians, but we do need to make an effort not to forget their humanity in the face of continued erasure and the media's sensationalist rhetoric.

Talking on social media and posting—while not seeming like a lot—does SO much. I know in USAmerica, it's like yelling into a void, but political analysts are saying that most of the "Global South" has completely lost any amount of goodwill it may have had the past few years. Hopefully, countries will start to put sanctions and embargoes en masse on the US and Israel soon.

Our goals here are BOTH short-term and long-term. We hope for the life and liberation of the Palestinian people, so anything that you can think of might help at some point in the future is encouraged to at least try.

If anyone else has any more ideas, feel free to reblog and add on. Thank you for asking, and here is to a liberated Palestine where Palestinians can live and thrive without fear.

"Most recently, Nir Hasson returned to Be’eri and interviewed a local resident named Tuval, who was lucky to be away from the kibbutz at the time of the attack but whose partner was killed. In Hasson’s October 20 Haaretz article, he reports:

“His voice trembles when his partner, who was besieged in her home shelter at the time, comes to mind. According to him, only on Monday night and only after the commanders in the field made difficult decisions — including shelling houses with all their occupants inside in order to eliminate the terrorists along with the hostages — did the IDF complete the takeover of the kibbutz. The price was terrible: at least 112 Be’eri people were killed. Others were kidnapped. Yesterday, 11 days after the massacre, the bodies of a mother and her son were discovered in one of the destroyed houses. It is believed that more bodies are still lying in the rubble.”

This quote is important for several reasons; one is because it adds to the understood timeline of events. This testimony would seem to indicate that many Israeli captives were still alive on Monday, October 9, a full two days after the events of Saturday, October 7. While it might be understandable if captives had been killed in the hectic crossfire of an initial Israeli response to the attack on the 7th, this account would seem to indicate that the decision to assault the kibbutz and everyone inside was made as a clear military calculation.

It is clear Palestinian militants were hiding in these buildings with their Israeli captives as Israeli soldiers were blasting their way in with massive tank shells in close quarters. It deserves to be investigated who caused most of the death and destruction that took place. This is especially important as these deaths are now being used to justify the destruction of Gaza and the killing of thousands of civilians there."
