Begged & Borrowed Time (xxix, ao3)

(Chapter twenty-nine: it's the reunion we've all been waiting for, but with Cassian as desperate for Nesta as he's ever been, and Nesta not quite convinced he'll feel the same about her post-Cauldron, it might not be as smooth as Cassian hopes.) (Prologue // previous chapter // next chapter)

Nesta.”

Her name fell from his lips like shards of glass, broken and cracked.

In its wake he forgot the pain in his wings, brushed it aside as the roaring in his bones dulled to nothing but a distant, feeble whisper. Still too weak to stand, Cassian gripped the doorframe so tightly that his knuckles barked and his hand began to hurt but…

Nesta.

Nesta stood there, lingering on the other side of the room, in the doorway that connected her room to what Cassian presumed was Elain’s. The wooden frame groaned beneath his fingertips as she stilled— so completely, so preternaturally, that the air between them seemed to tighten. To sharpen.

The world seemed to tilt, lurching and staggering— or perhaps that was just Cassian, and the way it felt like he was balanced on the precipice of some great cliff, with the rocks beginning to crumble beneath his feet. His breath came in ragged gasps, sawing from his throat, and only with effort did he force himself to straighten. To take a breath as his eyes alighted on the woman he loved for the first time in days.

i don't know which part of cassian's characterisation makes him seem like he'd be a good girl dad

the part when he tells his mate that everybody hates her or the part when he makes her march until exhaustion

Nessian fanfic lost

hi everyone,

I'm looking for a Nessian fanfic. Things I rember from it:

Nesta went to the continent

She is back for Elain's birthday (25 or something)

She doesn't speak Cassian until some dinner/event

But when they do speak there is something like

C: Are you happy?

N: I am happier. (She is happy, but not totally because realised that she missed him)

Yeah, I've met your demons, but they do not scare me I know they'll be angels once they learn to fly I've seen all your seasons, your cold February I know you'll be blooming in a matter of time

What I'm saying is I get you, get you Nothing we can't get through If I see you going down that road Then I won't let you I'll catch you no matter how far you fall

'Cause the best of me loves the best of you And all the rest, I can see right through You trust in me and I'll trust you too 'Cause the best of me loves the best of you

Begged & Borrowed Time (xxii, ao3)

Chapter twenty-two: Hybern attacks Velaris, and Cassian is caught unawares. (Prologue // previous chapter // next chapter)

All he could think of was that bracelet.

It had been two days - two achingly long, indeterminable days - and still all Cassian could think of was that simple piece of string threaded with glass beads, bought for a single coin from a Starfall market stall. The bracelet he had bought her had still been tied about Nesta’s wrist as she had stood there in that sitting room below the wall, the sleeves of her dress not quite long enough to hide it as it contended with that dull silver wedding ring on her third finger.

He’d traced that bracelet with his thumb as the words he so longed to say got stuck in his throat— and they were still there now, trapped, like a splinter he couldn’t pull loose.

I love you.

More than anything— I love you.

A Final Poison Kiss Delivered Gently (ao3)

Nesta Archeron is a renowned and ruthless fae warrior, but she gets far more than she bargained for when, in the midst of battle, she finds herself up against the most fearsome General. Retelling of the Achilles/Penthesilea myth.

(For @nessianweek day 6! Read with the context of Autumn and Night being at war. Feyre has all her canon gifts but she’s not with Rhys yet. Idk suspend disbelief and don’t look too closely at the details. Title from the Mayday Parade song Without the Bitter the Sweet isn’t as Sweet)

Battle dawned, but Nesta Archeron was no stranger to its song, its call.

It thrummed through her as she donned each and every piece of her armour, the world outside dimming to nothing but a dull roar, chaos quieting as she shut it all out, took a breath, and brushed a finger along the hilt of her sword. She felt the pommel in the palm of her hand, cool and solid against her skin. She was a Valkyrie— a warrior born and bread, and battle flowed through her blood, eager, thirsty for every drop she would spill today.

How the Light Attaches to a Change of Heart (ao3)

It’s been three years since Rhys demanded Nesta move to the House of Wind or be exiled to the human lands. That day, she walked away and never looked back, choosing a new life for herself on the continent. But something’s not right, and when she returns to Velaris for Elain’s birthday, she figures out what she was missing all along. (For @nessianweek day 5! Title taken from the Marianas Trench song The Death of Me)

There were times when Nesta Archeron thought she had it all.

When she returned each night to the apartment she had by the river, for example, feet sinking into plush carpets as the sun set beyond wide glass windows offering a vista of a city she’d never once thought to see when she was human. When she was paid handsomely each month, two hundred gold coins heavy in her palm, or when she rifled through the papers on her desk and found the deeds to her apartment, her own name penned in ink at the bottom. Times when she found herself in a fancy wine bar, sipping expensive vintage at a marble counter— so vastly different from the dive bars with the sticky floors and low light she’d once drank herself to oblivion in.

A distant memory, now.

So much had changed since then— since she’d last stumbled down a darkened alleyway in Velaris.

She’d gained so much since then.

Hadn’t she?
