Saimr: He doesn’t THINK he’s sick but he wouldn’t be acting like this if he was well, I think, So, he must be sick?

Hello I am new. Are there some things that I should know? And, how do you run an ask blog like this?

oh gosh wELL! I guess. I can try and bestow some wisdom I’ve gotten over the years for askblogging

first off, if your looking to start a blog, find a usable theme you like, make sure it’s accessible. this is /really hard/ because tumblr can be awful most times but accessibility is the key. if people can’t find the ask page they can’t send you asks and then your straight up dead in the water.

figure out what kind of story you want to tell, if any. no plot blogs are fine too, but since I run a plot based blog that’s what you get out of me, I love plot, keeps me engaged.but on the note of that, don’t plan every little thing out before you start. the more you can make up along the way, the more fun you’ll have working on it and motivation is a serious challenge when making a successful story that last. I found that just having a skeleton structure of a story and then filling in the details as I go is the best method for me, so that’s what I recommend! your skills at story telling will get better as you go with this sort of stuff and not planning everything out too throughly allows you to retcon when needed without uprooting large parts of plot.On that note, try not to make a new blog with every new idea you get, because none of them will get anywhere in the end. incorporating those ideas into your current blog is a good way around this but not foolproof. I’m also a bit hypocritical on this but I’m trying really hard to finish this blog, even if it takes me ages

keep in mind the main characters are going to be drawn a TON. make their designs something you can easily draw repeatedly. I wouldn’t recommend something complicated because you’ll get very tired of drawing all those details very quickly.Vu can be considered a fairly complicated design but I dug that grave for myself and thus I lie in it. (if you find a technique that cuts down on art time for a char then that’s honestly great. and is what I ended up doing with vu!)

Asks can be hard to get sometimes depending on the people active at the time, so keep in mind that there will be dry spells. ask calls are great for getting around this and also get that sweet interaction options but anon is your friend and try to keep that on for the most part, unless it becomes a problem. it has never been one for me, but I know some people who had to turn it off because the questions they got were nasty.Basically what I do is horde EVERY SINGLE ASK I GET that is useful and then pick them up when I get to a point where I can use them. it’s done me good so far, even if I use an ask 3 years later whoops.

the community is important, and so is interacting with them! characters asking things is the easiest way for something like that to go about, and leads to interesting stuff. it’s always good to be respectful of other people’s characters however, so if your unsure if something would be ok, just ask them about it! people are generally willing to talk things over with you I’ve found.

collabing (co running a blog) is a great thing and I recommend it but if you decide to work with someone else be sure it’s someone who you can talk to openly! my entire mon universe is p much a giant collab with my best friend and I love it, but I’ve seen blogs fall to pieces when people in the collab get into fights and fall apart. so there’s ups and downs to both sides.

I think that’s.. well that’s all I can think of. good luck and lemme know if you end up blogging!

Perhaps it is fun, but do you have a purpose for seeking such things? What drives your step in gaining more power you don't yet understand?" (@ask-east-of-eden)

Vu: It just.. seems like the right thing to do! So that’s why. I guess I haven’t put too much thought into it, but I think that’s ok! because it’s been going really good so far. ...you don’t look well though! is there anything I can do to help?
