«TIME IS RUNNING OUT!

Only ONE man can save the day! Well, one man and his army of expendable Spider-Minions! The Spider-Base will be reactivated! Refuel the Arachno-Mechs! Load your web-cannons! The moment you’ve been training for has arrived! Suit up, dolts! We’re going to WAR!» So erm yeah the synopsis for issue #3 has just been revealed and um... what?? This is not the direction I was expecting from this AT ALL like I know it's like Slott to overexaggerate for dramatic effect but still uhh..... what

So I read The Superior Spider Man comic that was just released. I liked it, couldn't stop laughing though at Estrella. She was just a college student who wanted to work with a superhero then she got thrown in as a soldier. I liked her though. I was upset that this wasn't an actual return of Superior though. I saw that post with that theory that you commented on from another blogger, about how Superior could come back through the mechanical arms that appeared in TASM comics a few months ago. I thought those things were completely destroyed? But they could still come back somehow, I just don't think I like the idea of the arms that contain part of Ock's old personality influencing the original Spidey's mind and that's their way of bringing him back? Just bring back Elliot Tolliver and stop coming up with different ways of bringing back Superior. I have been thinking of how they were gonna bring him back though, so if that other blogger who came up with that idea sees this, that sounds like something they might do How do you feel if they did that though?

Oh hey there! So I just went back and checked the ending of the Doc Ock arc in ASM #30, and the arms were not in fact destroyed; it seems that uhh... Jonah decided to keep them as his pet. I really don't like how they're treating Ock's old arms as some kind of weird dog thing but at the same time make it seem like the arms contain the "good" part of his personality/some fragment of Superior Spider-Man's consciousness, even if it makes no sense? The writing for ASM has been so confusing that honestly they could pull anything at this point and as sad as it is, I've already come to expect the most nonsensical solutions. So the arms are still out there, and we'll see if they will be in any way relevant further on. Personally I don't want the arms to play into this in any way, and like you, I really wish we could somehow have the Elliot Tolliver version of Otto back because I think it was just perfect for him. If we look at the synopsis for the upcoming issues of SSM Vol. 3, we see this: A SUPERIOR RECKONING! SPIDER-MAN faces a NEW VILLAIN from his SUPERIOR past. As she fries New York with all the power of a living star, DOC OCK makes a life-changing discovery! No time travel. No clones. Just Superior Spider-ing! The sins of Otto Octavius’ past are exacting a heavy toll on the present. And one of Peter Parker’s closest friends must pay the price for them. If the secrets revealed in our last issue didn’t fill you with dread, wait till you see how this one ends. If we rule out the worst possible outcome (turns out it's not even Otto who comes back as Superior, somehow), in my perfect world it would work out like this: There is apparently no time travel or clones involved, so that only leaves magic as a solution. Naturally this makes me think of Mephisto and his deal with Otto at the end of Vol. 2, and Otto discovering the details of that deal would be the discovery/secret they refer to in the synopsis. The only way he could find out about this is from Anna Maria, who was there with him as he was making the deal, and she also probably qualifies as one of Peter's closest friends that they mention. So yeah, in my ideal scenario Otto gets a proper confrontation with Anna Maria, this makes him remember what he forgot and maybe somehow reverses the effects of the deal??? This is 100% wishful thinking and I'm pretty sure we will get something more nonsensical, if not outright disappointing. But that's my personal optimistic theory I'm going to hold onto like the fool I am lol.

Summary: Learning how to be alive again is hard work, but it's worth it. Relationships: Kamila & Yomiel, Sissel & Yomiel Tags: Post-Canon, Friendship, Bonding, Character Study Disguised As Fic ——————

Feeling a bit more at peace, Yomiel placed his hand on the door and pushed it forward, allowing his legs to carry him inside.

He found himself in a small but cozy little room, perfect for a girl her age. Soft, glowing lights, warm pastel colors, some bright accents here and there, a bed in one corner, a bookcase in the other, and several other pieces of furniture scattered in-between—nothing unusual at the heart of it.

What set this place apart from just any ordinary child’s room, though, was Kamila’s personal touch, which Yomiel was tempted to describe as ‘systemized chaos’. Just about everywhere he could see various objects suspended at different points in space, from the clearly handcrafted decorations hanging from the ceiling, to curious makeshift devices lying on the carpet, to cords of unclear purpose running along the walls and tethered to seemingly random items.

Momentarily, Yomiel imagined how easy it would be to hop from core to core here, had he still had his powers of the dead; but the thought was promptly locked away and thrown into the deepest recesses of his psyche. It wasn’t the time for that. It was never the time for that, anymore.

Been pretty obsessed with Superior Spider-Man these past few weeks and there isn't really much art of him, so I decided to clean up some of my favorite panels from Spider-Geddon (plus color corrected a couple of elements like lenses and hands). Sharing here in case anyone else wants those, so feel free to use it for icons and stuff.

Summary: Post-ROTJ, Vader lives AU. One year has passed since Anakin’s rescue from the second Death Star, and his scheduled execution is due to take place tomorrow. But before that, he must welcome a new member into the family—and say goodbye to them. Relationships: Luke Skywalker & Darth Vader, Leia Organa & Darth Vader, Anakin Skywalker & Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa & Anakin Skywalker, Leia Organa/Han Solo Characters: Anakin Skywalker | Darth Vader, Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Leia Organa, Shmi Skywalker (mentioned) Tags: Force Ghost Anakin Skywalker, Grandparent Darth Vader, Drama, Feels, Family Fluff ————– Turning around, Luke saw a shimmering figure of a man in light Jedi robes. He looked a little older than Luke had remembered him from the holos, with more lines on his face and slightly longer hair; but there could be no mistake. An overwhelming wave of unfathomable relief came over him, and he couldn’t help but cry out the word that he’d gotten so used to saying in the past year.

“Father!” the young man gasped.

The spirit nodded at him warmly. “Hello, Luke.”

There was a pause as Luke stared at his father, joy and surprise gradually giving way to mild frustration. “Why didn’t you tell me?” he blurted out, his tone slightly hurt.

Anakin looked at him with a guilty gaze, his voice apologetic. “I didn’t tell anyone. I…did not want to give you false hope in case I wouldn’t succeed at coming back.” He furrowed his brow. “Although I’m surprised that Obi-Wan didn’t let you in on this.”

Regarding Anakin for a moment, Luke shook his head and sighed, letting go of his vexation. He supposed he could see where his father was coming from. “Well, Obi-Wan has a good track record of keeping things secret,” he said in a good-natured way.

Throwing his head back a little, Anakin let out a small but sincere chuckle. “Yes, I suppose he does,” he agreed. His smile then faded when he suddenly noticed a shocked, blank expression on his son’s face. “What?” Anakin asked, arching his eyebrow.

“It’s just that…” Luke paused. “I didn’t know you could laugh.”

“Neither did I.”

“And you look and sound so...different, too.”

“Better than before, I hope.”

Now it was Luke’s turn to chuckle. “That’s for sure,” he said with a smile.

Summary: Post-ROTJ, Vader lives AU. Anakin travels to Ilum to find a kyber crystal for his new lightsaber, but the task proves to be much more challenging than anticipated. Relationships: Anakin Skywalker & Luke Skywalker,  Anakin Skywalker & Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker & Darth Vader Characters: Anakin Skywalker | Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker Tags: Drama, Action/Adventure, Emotional Hurt/Comfort, The Force, Force Visions ————– Next second, Anakin noticed movement ahead as a dark figure slowly emerged from behind the cave wall. A figure that he had encountered before, time and time again, within the depth of his own consciousness—which was probably why he wasn’t surprised to meet it here again of all places. Approaching him confidently was a tall young man dressed in black Jedi robes. He had wavy golden hair and piercing blue eyes, a thin scar adorning his right temple. One of his hands was clad in a dark glove, in which he held a lightsaber hilt, spinning it nonchalantly between his fingers. As he drew closer to Anakin, the man spread out his arms in an exaggerated greeting motion. “Well, well, well,” the Jedi drawled with a smirk, “if it isn’t master Obi-Wan’s biggest mistake.” Anakin frowned, already irritated at the all-too-familiar flippancy in his younger self’s voice. Of course the Force would decide to challenge him by concocting some sort of absurd apparition. “Apparition?” The Jedi raised his eyebrow in surprise. “Come on, that’s no way to talk about yourself. Have some respect.

”Anakin set his jaw. Had he truly once been so… insufferable?

The young man shrugged. “You aren’t exactly pleasant to be around either, in case you didn’t know.”

Anakin knew better than to speak with visions, but felt the little patience he had already running out. “What do you want?” he demanded, scowling under his mask.

“That’s funny,” the Jedi said, “I was just about to ask you the same thing. What do you want?”

“To get this over with,” Anakin growled, cutting the conversation short. This stupid charade wasn’t worth his time. The faster he made the obnoxious vision dissipate, the sooner he would be able to return to his search for the kyber crystal.

Summary: Post-ROTJ, Vader lives AU. Ahsoka visits Anakin in his medical ward and realizes something important. Relationships: Ahsoka Tano & Darth Vader, Anakin Skywalker & Ahsoka Tano Characters: Anakin Skywalker | Darth Vader, Ahsoka Tano, Luke Skywalker (mentioned) Tags: Friendship, Drama, Feels, Light Angst, Master & Padawan Relationship(s) -------------- Arriving on Coruscant a few hours ago, Ahsoka had headed straight for the medical center where Anakin had been held. According to Luke, their recent trip to Mustafar hadn’t gone exactly as planned, which had led to Anakin overexerting himself through excessive use of the Force and temporarily losing consciousness. The young Jedi had assured her that there’d been nothing to worry about, saying that his father simply required some rest to regain physical and mental strength, and that he should come to eventually. And this moment, she knew, would arrive soon enough—not only from what the doctors had told her, but also because of their bond. Ahsoka felt the dormant presence at the other end growing more and more active with each minute, and wanted to make sure Anakin wouldn't be alone when he would finally wake up. There was, however, another reason for her being here. Other than keeping him company, Ahsoka wished to finally see Anakin without his mask and suit, feeling that she deserved it as much as anyone else. She’d never pushed the topic with Anakin himself, waiting for him to offer this chance to her instead; but in those few months since their reunion, he hadn’t brought up the idea once, leaving Ahsoka slightly desperate. Although they had gotten somewhat closer over time, she still sensed an emotional barrier between them which she couldn't quite get rid of, despite her constant gentle attempts. It felt like chipping away at a wall of ferrostone, inch by inch, and finally breaking it down only to discover there was another right behind it. Ahsoka hoped that seeing Anakin as he was would prompt him to be more open with her, even though he had given her no permission to be there. She suspected this topic must have been sensitive for him and wasn’t sure how he would react, yet in her mind, the possible positives outweighed her concerns. But now that Ahsoka was actually looking at him, she began to wonder whether it had been such a good idea after all. Perhaps, she thought, he had simply wanted to spare her the sight.

so if you help egghead make van eyck’s jam hardcore… presumably turning it into a novelty (ie. something produces pale) BUT it’s a novelty that is inherently anodic in nature (ie. something that stabilises pale)… does that mean van eyck’s jam stabilises the swallow? neutralises it? can pale reach a state of equilibrium?

Sorry to barge into the discossion discussion like that, but seeing this I wanted to share my own interpretation of how I understood this new lore :P Novelty and originality are different concepts, essentially. Novelties are things that can only be produced by magpies – they’re ideas and concepts “plagiarized” from the future. The process of mining those novelties is what creates the pale, presumably by erasing the timeline which originally led to the organic development of those ideas and concepts. This is why Dolores Dei’s assassin shouts, “We were supposed to come up with this ourselves”. Opposed to novelties, however, is originality. Those are also new ideas and concepts, but they’re not “stolen” – they’re created in the present through people’s own passion and effort to come up with something new, by experimenting and joining together existing elements. This is exactly what the ravers are achieving, through an organic process of creation. So I don’t believe van Eyck’s jam is a novelty, as it isn’t stolen from the future but created out of existing/past elements, and thus doesn’t produce the pale – but it probably does contribute to containing/neutralizing it, as a naturally produced original thing.

Summary: Post-ROTJ, Vader lives AU. Confronted by a ghost of his past, Anakin must make a choice that will define his future. Relationships: Obi-Wan Kenobi & Darth Vader, Obi-Wan Kenobi & Anakin Skywalker Characters: Anakin Skywalker | Darth Vader, Obi-Wan Kenobi Tags: Force Ghosts, Master & Padawan Relationship, Drama, character study disguised as fic —— There had been a time when they had called each other friends. Brothers, even. Anakin remembered loving Obi-Wan, and was no longer able to delude himself into thinking that Obi-Wan had never loved him back. And that had been their downfall, perhaps; the master caring too much about his student to see the signs of his descent into darkness until it had been too late, and the student caring too much about his master to ever admit that something had been wrong. After failing each other in more ways than one could count, Anakin’s affection had transformed into an emotion just as potent, his whole being consumed by hatred for his old teacher. At the beginning of his Sith path he had been obsessed with finding Obi-Wan and exacting revenge upon him, blaming the Jedi for everything that’d led up to that point and for dooming him to his agonizing existence. But as the years had passed, Anakin’s feelings had grown weaker and the repressed truths stronger, until finally, his hate towards Obi-Wan had found its intended target: himself. By the time of their last confrontation Anakin’s once burning rage had been reduced to barely smoldering embers, resulting in nothing more than shallow taunts towards the Jedi. With his drive for vengeance gone, their battle with Obi-Wan had felt more like a formality if anything; and even back then, he’d known that his victory had been a hollow one. There had been no triumph, no satisfaction, no sense of closure; nothing that Anakin had once hoped he would feel in that moment. There had been only a feeling of empty disappointment, an even deeper loneliness—and perhaps an ounce of envy that out of them two, Obi-Wan had been the one granted the mercy of eternal rest. At least, that was what Anakin had used to believe. Now, it would seem his old mentor’s spirit had indeed remained lingering in the living realm after all. And when his mild surprise had passed, Anakin could not help but feel curious as to what had made it possible. “How?” he asked, at last breaking the silence. “I told you that I would become more powerful than you could possibly imagine.” “Seeking power is not the Jedi way.” “No. Perhaps not,” Obi-Wan agreed. “But it was the only way.”

Chapter Title: Common Ground Summary: Post-ROTJ, Vader lives AU. When Vader steps aboard the Millennium Falcon for the first time, he doesn't react the way Han expects him to. Characters: Han Solo & Darth Vader | Anakin Skywalker Tags: Friendship, Some Humor Noted: The 1st drabble in my AU series, posted on Tumblr in full form. ——

As he put his hands in his pockets, Han let out a weary sigh, making sure it would come off as loud and annoyed as possible. He knew that at this point it was already futile to resist, and had done his best to prepare himself for the difficult trial that awaited him. But he still wanted to make sure his silent protest would not go unnoticed—to let the dark figure next to him know just how much he disliked the situation he had found himself in.

Earlier this week, Han as usual had been talking to Luke after work, catching up on the latest news and developments in each other’s lives. Everything had been going smoothly, until Han had made the fatal mistake of mentioning that he’d been meaning to visit the largest spaceship market on Coruscant, located in a far-off region of the planet. As fate would have it, that exact market had recently caught the attention of a certain former Sith. Dissatisfied with the parts that the Republic had been providing for his projects lately, Vader had expressed a wish to visit the place and browse the goods for himself.

Fast forward a couple of days, and now Han found himself standing in the hangar in front of the Millennium Falcon, as the former Dark Lord waited patiently by his side. The whole trip wouldn’t take more than a few hours, but with Vader as his sole companion, Han was sure it would feel at least ten times as long and grating. And he could only hope that this day wouldn't mark the beginning of his career as a personal Sith chauffeur.

Once again drawing a sigh, he turned to face the hollow stare of Vader’s mask.

“Let’s make one thing clear,” Han said, slowly. “This is my ship, and I decide who’s allowed aboard. The moment I see you try something funny, you’re getting off the ride in an escape pod. And don’t touch anything.” He pointed his finger at Vader. “Got it?”

“I do not know what boisterous creatures you are used to picking up as your traveling companions, General, but I am not one of them,” the masked man replied calmly. “I have been waiting for a chance to examine this ship on the inside,” he added after a pause.

“Well, at least one of us got lucky today,” Han drawled as he walked up the boarding ramp, beckoning for the other man to come along. “Get in.”

As they got inside, Han headed down the main corridor with Vader following closely behind him—until suddenly, he heard the heavy footsteps fade away. Confused, Han stopped and turned around, only to find Vader standing still and looking about in what felt like stunned silence.

Han frowned. He’d already learned the former Sith had a special affinity for all things spacecraft, and a critical eye for its quality—which meant even more snide remarks at the expense of the Millennium Falcon than usual. No doubt he had already come up with a plethora of sarcastic comments regarding the shabby appearance of the freighter, and was now trying to decide which one felt the most insulting so that he could proceed to voice it first.

“This is…” Vader trailed off.

Han let out a derisive scoff. “Hideous? Pathetic? Come on, spit it out.”

“...excellent.”

Han blinked.

And then he blinked again.

And again.

What?

“What?” he said out loud, echoing his single, lonely thought.

“This is a beautiful ship,” Vader said, clearing up any doubts as to what he had meant, and shocking Han even further. “I can see now why she eluded my grasp for so long.” He paused. “Who was responsible for the modifications?”

“I…” It took Han a moment to find his cool again and gather his thoughts before answering the question. “Well, Chewie’s been helping, of course, but… he’s more of a repair guy, you know.” He waved his hand vaguely in the air. “And some of the older upgrades came from Lando. But I’ve done the most work on her.”

“Then you deserve to be commended for it, General.” Vader took a few steps forward and tilted his mask up, inspecting the ceiling area more closely. “It’s been some time since I last saw such immaculate workmanship. Using an ion flux stabilizer to enhance the power supply efficiency was a particularly clever solution. Simple, yet effective.”

Failing to hear any traces of mockery in Vader’s words, Han nodded at him in acknowledgment, not sure what to say. The former Dark Lord seemed to have a knack for throwing him for a loop in the most unexpected ways, and at this point Han could no longer tell whether it was deliberate on his part. Still, as long as it meant more admiration, he supposed he didn’t mind it. It did feel good to finally be recognized for his mechanic skills—especially by someone as rarely impressed as Vader. Up until today, Han was sure the man wouldn’t be able to utter a single word of praise even if his life depended on it. Maybe he had changed after all.

“I used to pilot a modified Corellian freighter myself,” Vader suddenly said. “Rigger-class.”

“Really?” Han arched an eyebrow in surprise. “You mean the Clone Wars model, right?”

“Correct.” Vader raised his gloved hand and ran it over the wall, fingertips brushing lightly against the surface. “That vessel left much to be desired. But I… was fond of it, nonetheless.”

Han nodded. That was definitely something he could empathize with. “What happened to it?” he asked, interested.

“Obi-Wan,” Vader replied tersely as he let his arm fall to the side.

“I… see.” There was definitely some history here, and Han didn’t want to risk damaging Vader’s uncharacteristically high spirits by raking it up.

As their conversation died down, Vader inspected his surroundings for another minute before speaking up again.

“We still have some time left before departure,” he said, turning to Han. “Perhaps a short excursion is in order. I am particularly curious to see the engineering bay.” This was different from Vader’s usual demanding attitude—instead, he sounded almost cajoling —and Han couldn’t help but notice how good it felt to finally hold some kind of power over him, no matter how trivial.

Han crossed his arms over his chest. “I would never let Darth Vader poke his nose around my ship," he said coolly. The former Sith’s disappointment was almost palpable, and Han savored it for a moment before smirking and adding, "But Anakin can take a look."
