gonna make a cyberpunk setting with prosthetics and cybernetics that outlast their owners. even with advanced medicine, humans only live for a hundred years tops -- but titanium doesn't age, doesn't rust, doesn't break down. and it'd be a waste to destroy it, so the insurance cartels just repossess it upon body-death, flash-sanitize it, and then put it back into stock for some other poor bastard. they're cheaper, pre-made, already calibrated - only problem is that some people who get refurbished prostheses complain about phantom reflexes, nerve inputs they never sent.
The steam library really is the gamers refrigerator. I keep checking to see if there's anything I want to play. I have games. I have plenty of games. There's nothing i want to play
my wife and i found this at goodwill. it's her new favorite hat
by talos this canβt be happening is a mandela effect because the actual phrase is by the gods this canβt be happening and iβve never heard anyone say the former in game
by talos this canβt be happening
the phrase by talos this canβt be happening is actually from a rupaul roleplay blog who left their husband in a cage with no food and water for a few weeks and the husband died sorry to be the spoil sport but it does have an origin and it is a very tumblr origin in nature
Hereβs the post theyβre referring to for context
oh god
Oh Talos
I love seeing it when people find this out. I fucking love it.
ok since i don't think i've seen any semi-comprehensive lists of the tumblr holidays for the reddit refugees, here it is.
the whump community is so funny cus weβre incredibly friendly and kind and respectful, more so than a lot of parts of the internet including some (most) fandoms ive seen out there
but weβre like, going around and torturing fictional characters
while being lovely and nice to each other
itβs so funny
i love you guys
This is a stupid conversation! and I'm not going to continue it! literally so fucking correct
What Iβm really proud of is the fact that he made SURE the audience understood why the caller was being an idiot. He made a PERFECT comparison, gave the caller an honest chance to re-evaluate and change his mind. His point landed, everyone knew it, even the caller (note his pause and almost hesitancy after being asked).
But when the caller decided to bulldoze on anyway, because god forbid actually listen to the other person in the conversation, the expert cut him off and refused his time. And good for him.
[VD: A tweet by @ g33kgurli, tweeted at 9:47 PM on Dec 17, 2021. It reads, "Perhaps the best clap back to antivaxxers and antimaskers." Attached is a video from The Thom Hartmann Program, where Hartmann is talking with a caller. The conversation goes as follows:
Caller: Hey Thom. Uh, I was listening to you for the last hour so, um, I heard survival of the fittest. Um, you know some of us choose not to vaccinate and uh--
Hartmann: You're nuts, Nicholas.
Caller: --because we work very hard about staying fit, eating healthy, and our natural immune system.
Hartmann: So Nicholas if you're so healthy, would you have unprotected sex with somebody who has syphilis or gonorrhea?
Caller: You're missing the point.
Hartmann: No, I'm not missing the point. They're contagious diseases. Would you have unprotected sex with somebody who has syphilis and gonorrhea and not worry about it because you're so healthy?
Caller: [pause] No, I wouldn't do that.
Hartmann: Okay, then why would you expose yourself to covid without having some protection?
Caller: Because the protection is my natural immunity.
Hartmann: No, it's not. Tell that--
Caller: Yes, yes, my natural immune system--
Hartmann: Tell that to eight hundred thousand dead Americans. Nicholas, this is- this is a stupid conversation and I'm not going to continue it.

Everyone whoβs ever died of a disease had an immune system
I was actually just up in Ohio for the solar eclipse, and did you know, I'd never seen Spring before?
I thought I had, because down here in Florida we do get some flowers and nice green leaves as the weather shifts from cool to hot, but the trees are never bare and the flowers just blend in with the rest of the trees and in comparison this Actual Spring was some sort of magical wonderland, I swear to god, I've never seen anything like it
Apple blossoms???? are so pretty???????? the subtle changes of the colors, and they take up the whole tree and they're so damn beautiful????????????????? I had never seen them before, we don't have any apple trees down here at all, but now they might be my favorite flower
I'm familiar with cherry blossoms- we do have some cherry trees- but not like this. This tree was entirely pink and stood out so much! No leaves or anything on the trees, just flowers everywhere!!! I see why people like spring and cherry blossoms so much, I think.
And idek what these are but LOOK at that!!!!!!! Life and color!!!! Spring!!!!
So yeah. I went to Ohio and I thought it was beautiful and i wanted to share that with you. Your state is wonderful!!!
I love Reddit sometimes.
I recently had surgery, and at the time I came home, I had both my cat and one of my grandma's cats staying with me.
- Within hours of surgery, I wake up from a nap to my cat gently sniffing at my incisions with great alarm.
- I was not allowed to shower the first day after surgery, and the cats, seeing that The Large Cat is not observing its cleaning ritual, decided I must be gravely disabled and compensated by licking all the exposed skin on my arms, face, and legs.
- I currently have to sleep with a pillow over my abdomen because my cat insists on climbing on top of me and covering my incisions with her body while I sleep (which is very sweet but not exactly comfortable without the pillow). She also lays across me facing my bedroom door, presumably on guard for attackers who may try to harm me while I'm sleeping and injured.
That's love. πββ¬πβ€οΈ
cats are so very unclear on what is wrong with us but they want to help
Last time I had a really bad migraine my cat curled herself round my head and purred sympathetically, and actually stayed there through two of her normal mealtimes. It wasn't until I was able to stagger to the kitchen and grab a protein bar for myself that she gave a very small, polite miaow to the effect of "while you're up... could you get something for me too?"
She does look exceptionally polite and caring, it has to be said. π
