Kenobi fans stay winning. People who make it their job to hate on Star Wars and think George Lucas agrees with you stay losing
Like what you like. Never put down other people for liking something. If you want to like the holiday special you should be able to do that. The moment this fandom at large allows for that is the moment we can stop the stupid arguments. This doesn’t apply to tumblr, but I needed a place to vent.
OBI-WAN KENOBI Part III
actually for fusies, let’s make it a poll
original post for context:
I could cut back to survive on 10K a month, I've done it before. I would probably collect one, maybe two months at 14hrs/day before, uh, dying. I've done those. A month, when I was in my twenties, ruined me. I was simply never suited to BigLaw.
"Part of [creating the Obi-Wan Kenobi series] was interfacing with George. Early on, there was a conversation had with George over his thoughts were, and whether or not honestly he would balk at the whole concept of 'we're taking Obi-Wan and Vader again and we're doing this [storyline]'. And he was a hundred percent supportive. And I've heard tell that it's been one of his favorite things that's come out of Star Wars, because he recognizes so much of what he did in the prequels basically brought forward and celebrated." --Pablo Hidalgo, Full of Sith podcast #VINDICAAAAAATIOOOOONNNN #THE OBI-WAN KENOBI SERIES NAILED BEING AN EXTENSION OF THE PREQUELS #FROM THE AESTHETIC DETAILS OF FIGHT CHOREOGRAPHY TO THE THEMES OF THESE CHARACTERS #THAT SHOW UNDERSTOOD THE ASSIGNMENT #AND I'M GOING TO STAPLE THIS TO EVERYONE'S DOOR OUT OF SHEER GLEE THAT GEORGE LUCAS AGREES

my brand is having a breakdown over cody’s appearance in a video game from years ago and how it absolutely justifies my cody is the sun agenda
I feel safe. Yes, it feels like that.
@swsource star wars week: day 6 – may the 4th be with you!
While I love Obi-wan is secretly stronger than everyone including Anakin, and Chosen One™ Obi-wan au's
My absolute favorite thing, both canon and au is
Chosen One™ Minor Force Deity Anakin Skywalker gets absolutely annihilated by Normal Dude Just Dedicated to His Craft Obi-wan Kenobi.
Obi-wan is just a guy. Yeah a jedi, but still just some dude who has spent decades of his life committed to his training and trying to live up to what he thinks a Jedi should be.
What I love about Obi-wan is the fact that, while many others (jedi included) think he's "the perfect example" of a Jedi (They give him the call sign Guiding Light ffs), Obi-wan doesn't think that. Obi-wan sees himself as just some dude. To the point where he disagrees with people who try to tell him he's special in some way. Hells he didn't even think he was The Master of Soresu despite Mace Windu saying he was.
My point is. You take Obi-wan and throw him up against Anakin. Who knows he's the chosen one and let that go to his head (and let his ego be inflated by Sidious). Who thinks hes hot shit and the most powerful person in the galaxy.
And he gets his ass handed to him multiple times by Just a Sad Little Dude Obi-wan.
Star Wars: How the prequel trilogy mirrored and rhymed the original
I am actually crying right now because this is perfect.
Awesome!
wait are you telling me that the cinematography in the Star Wars prequels was designed to 1:1 reflect the shots in the original trilogy in order to tie the series together bc DAMN WOW
Yes, absolutely.
“These aren’t merely just visually similar moments. They are carefully composed—in fact, the whole scenes in which they appear had to be carefully staged so that the key moments could be composed—in a direct symmetrical reflection of the earlier shots that Lucas wanted to quote.
What is this point of this? [Mike] Kilmo has his Ring Theory which describes structural reasons for the patterns. I’ve always thought of it more in musical terms, because that’s how Lucas describes it. He describes these moments as the same melody or theme, but played on different instruments. And what is the purpose of it when a particular melody is reprised in an opera, but given a different interpretation? To compare and contrast the two different moments, to mark the differences and create subtextual meaning.
In the case of these particular moments, he is creating bookends for the story of the entire saga. First, the murder of Qui-Gon by a Sith, which is what leads to Obi-Wan training Anakin and all the misfortune that follows, and this is inverted by Vader’s eventual sacrifice where he is able to turn back to Anakin again, and he dies himself. Pulling these two moments together by making these shots direct quotations of one another tells the story of the entire saga in miniature, and it’s beautiful to see.” [x]

Tales of the Empire 4-6 (Barriss Offee)
And just like that, I did get some Jedi! YAY!
These people seemed really chill about becoming Inquisitors and turning to the Dark Side. That's my main issue with these eps, but then Barriss turned back and it got a lot better.
I loved the final episode, and the life they gave Barriss helping people.
It's weird that this show seemingly had a more positive take on the Jedi than TotJ had? I love it, but it's weird.
Tales of the Empire 1-3 (Morgan Elsbeth)
I'm still a bit miffed we got this instead of more Tales of the Jedi, so not exactly a great start. I'm just not as interested in the bad guys, I guess?
But if I were to pick a bad guy story, this is not the one I'd choose.
It looks beautiful and there are some interesting moments and world-building. The whole Mountain Clan on Dathomir was pretty interesting.
It just relied really heavily on one single episode of The Mandalorian which I don't think was that interesting to begin with. And then Morgan herself was one of the less interesting antagonists on the Ahsoka series.
I do like this trend that stuff from the prequel era/clone wars is shown to affect people who are around even after the Empire. Because yeah, it's only a few decades, and you've got long-lived species, so there absolutely would be people with formative/traumatic experiences from those days.
Happy May the 4th be with you!
