Chapter Ten [Confessions of an Ebony Siphon]
Pairing: Klaus Mikaelson x Black!OC
ELIJAH AND KLAUS QUICKLY arrive at Rousseauâs. They head inside and rush into the back room, where they find Sabine on the floor of the kitchen. Broken glass and pieces of food scattered across the floor.
Elijah reaches down and helps her up. âWhat happened? Why are you on the floor?â
Sabine looks up towards him. âMarcel.â She rubs head and groans as she looks around.
âHis men took Sophie.â
Earlier on at Rousseauâs the two witches were inside cooking and talking amongst themselves.
Sophie chops up vegetables while talking to Sabine, who is sitting on one of the tables. She turns and sees her sitting on the kitchen prep table, she gestures toward her and makes a face.
âI cook on that, you know!â
Sabine laughs at her. âDonât get cranky with me! Iâm the only witch who still likes you.â
Sophie starts stirring her gumbo before turning to Sabine.
âYeah, itâs not like Iâm trying to save the witch heritage or anything.â
Sabine sighed. âTheyâll come around. Theyâre just old-school. And scared.â
Sophie scoffed loudly. âScared of what? Your prophecy about the hybrid baby still being alive? And the fact that it is now in the body of Athena Toussaint the siphon? Marcel and his freak-show minions had a real field day with that one.â
Sabine shakes her head at the older witch. âI canât help what I see, Soph.â
Sophie smiled at her. âWell, if youâre psychic, Iâm Martha Stewart!â.
She walks toward table to grab some celery. âScootch!â.
Sophie returns to her table and Sabine hops down to join her. She sees a shadow in her peripheral vision and gets suspicious. Suddenly, two people come out and lunge toward them.
Sabine watches them startled. âWhat the - ?â
One of them suddenly backhands Sabine across the face, and she as she falls, she hits her head on the table and falls unconscious.
Sophie tries to fight the other two people off, but they blow some powder in her face that makes her pass out as well.
Shaking her head out of the memory, Sabine looks at the brothers confused. âWhy are you here anyway?â
Elijah places his hands in his pockets. âWe need you to come look at Athena. Thereâs something wrong with her.â
Deep down Elijah was frightened by what had happened this morning. He could see that Athena and Klaus were getting along wonderfully.
The noble original had seen how the hybrid had slowly began to let down the walls he had built over a thousand years ago. They all were, and he was not about to let anything happen to her, she is apart of the family now after all. Families stick together.
Sabine sighed and looked toward them warily.
âI canât right now. I have to go and find Sophie before Marcel does something to her.â
Klaus smirks and steps forward. âOh believe me love, we werenât asking.â
The brown skinned witch held her hands up in defeat. âFine. No need for any violence. Where is she?â
Rebekah enters Klausâ bedroom, where Athena is sitting in an armchair. She grins widely. âTime for the demon spawn to snack!â
Athena laughs at her behavior. âI really wish you wouldnât call her that.â
The female original smiled softly at her. âHer? You think itâs a girl?â
The siphon saw the look on the blondeâs face and smiled gently, looking down at her broadening stomach and rubbed it happily. âYeah, I think itâs a girl.â
Rebekah grinned. âWell thatâs just fantastic because I think we need more girls around here.â Athena chuckled at her.
âOh, by the way Iâm sorry, have you picked another name yet?â
She holds out basket of apples she had carried in with her. âTake one, the plantationâs lousy with them.â
Athena chooses an apple and holds it for a moment. âYou know, I feel fine, which is weird. Iâm sure itâll pass.â
Rebekah eyed her carefully. âThen, do me a favor, and donât die on my watch. Iâll never hear the end of it.â
The darker skinned girl looked at the original tilting her head. âYou know, when I first met you, I thought you were a real bitch.â
Rebekah smiled and let out a loud laugh. âWhat changed your mind?â
Athena joined in on the laughter. âOh, I still think youâre a bitch! Iâve just grown to like that about you.â
The blonde chuckled. âAw, well, thatâs sweet of you to say.â
Her face then turns serious. âRemember it when Iâm gone.â
Athena looks at her confused. âGone? Just where in the hell are you going?â
Rebekah sighed. She had really started liking the siphon. âI only came to town to make sure everything was okay with Elijah. Heâs fine, and he hasnât punished Klaus for daggering him, so as usual, theyâll be thick as thieves, and Iâll be left to clean up the mess. Itâs time for me to fly the coop.â
Athena looks at her starting to wonder if the blonde had gone mad. âUm no hon, sorry to break it to you but you ainât goinâ no where. After all, weâve just started bonding you know? Plus the baby is going to need her Aunt around to defend her against the evil people in this world.
Also, no matter what you may think, Niklaus and Elijah both need and want you here. They love you and you love them. So you canât leave. I thought âAlways and Foreverâ was just that, Always and Forever. So please, sit your ass down in the chair across from me and help me to come up with nice names for the baby.â
Rebekahâs jaw fell open, shocked at how bluntly Athena had spoken to her. She starts laughing. âJeez, you didnât have to beg you know.â She said winking at her.
Athena laughs too and goes to bite the apple in her hand, but she suddenly starts to feel woozy before she gets the chance to eat it.
Rebekah frowns at her. âWhatâs wrong?â
Athena shakes her head. âI dunno, Iâm trying to convince myself that itâs morning sickness but I think itâs more than that.â
Rebekah places her hand on Athenaâs forehead. âOh, youâre burning up, actually.â
Athena falls forward in her seat about to pass out when Rebekah catches her.
The original lifts her and carries her to the bed quickly. She pulls out her phone and hits the first number on speed dial. âNiklaus, where are you?! Athena is getting worse.â
Klaus is driving down the road heading for the Mansion with Elijah in the front seat and Sabine in the back.
âWe are on our way back Rebekah! Bloody hell, what do you mean sheâs getting worse?!â
Elijahâs head snapped towards him shocked. He grabs the phone from Klaus and talks to Rebekah. âNever mind that Rebekah weâre pulling up to the house now.â
Rebekah moves the phone away from her ear and places it in her pocket. She runs to the bathroom and wets a washcloth.
Athena lays in bed as Rebekah starts to blot the sweat from her forehead and chest with the cloth.
Rebekah looks down at the siphon twisting below her. âStop fussing, will you? Nik and Elijah will be here with Sabine any minute.â
Athena groans out loudly. âI feel like Iâve been microwaved. Where the hell is Nik?â
The blonde rolled her eyes at the siphon. âHey! Just because youâre carrying a baby doesnât mean you get to act like one! Iâm sure my little niece is healing you up as we speak.â
Klaus then runs in with Elijah and Sabine in tow. He sees Athena curled on her side in a fetal position and walks briskly towards her. He climbs in behind her and pulls her against his body. Turning her head towards his, he uses a hand to cup her cheek. âWhatâs wrong love? How are you feeling?â
She turns around more and nuzzles her face into the crook of his neck. âI feel woozy, and like Iâm bursting with heat from the inside out. Ugh.â
Klaus looks worriedly at Sabine and motions for her to come forward. He moves his head back to Athena and whispers softly in her ear.
âSabine is going to check to see whatâs wrong with you okay sweetheart?â
Nodding her head, she turns her body back around to face Sabine but still has her hand gripped tightly in his.
Sabine reaches forward to feel her forehead and as she makes contact, she is pulled into a vision.
Sophie has just awakened in one of the cemeteryâs many mausoleums and is struggling against the grip of the masked men who knocked her out. The men shackle Sophieâs wrists to chains that hang from the ceiling.
âLet go of me!â She shouted.
Marcel enters the crypt with a bag and sets it on a table. âLeave her be.â
Sophie watches him disgusted. âWhat is it? What do you want? You gonna kill me? Is that it?â
Marcel laughs dryly at her. âYou can calm down Sophie Iâm not going to kill you. But I am going to do something to you and for that I must offer my apologies.â
Marcel begins rooting through his bag. Sophie looks scared. âWhat are you gonna do?â
Marcel holds up a large, old-looking metal syringe with a long needle. Sophie is confused but because the sight terrifies her, she desperately tries to back away despite being chained up. âDo you remember Davina? The witch I rescued from the clutches of your coven? Yes well, thanks to her, you have now been linked to Athena Toussaint. Now I plan on using you, Sophie Devereaux to extract my revenge on them.â
Sophie looks shocked at him. âKilling me to get to Klausâ or his babyâ is not the answer!â
Marcel rolled his eyes heavily. âFor the last time, Iâm not going to kill you witch! Iâm only going to take out the one thing Klaus Mikaelson cares most about in this world, apart from that family of his.â
Sophieâs eyes widened. âNo, no, Marcel, no! No, no, donât!â
Marcel holds Sophieâs head to the side and stabs the needle into her neck.
Athena watched as Sabineâs body froze and shuddered as her eyes began to roll over.
Athena grew nervous. What was she seeing? Was something wrong with the baby?
Klaus, Elijah and Rebekah watch anxiously as the witch fell into some enchantment. Klaus growled wildly, fed up with how long this was taking. The mother of his child was suffering, and who knows what was happening to the baby?
âWAKE UP!â Klaus shouted at Sabine.
Gasping loudly, she bends over and rests her hands on her knees. Bits of the scene of Marcel and Sophie playing over and over in her mind.
âWhat the bloody hell was that? My brothers go out and locate you to help Athena, and all you can do is groan and daydream!â Rebekah said annoyed.
âM-Marcel ⊠Sophie, needle .. baby.â Sabine stuttered out.
âDear God! Will you stop blabbering on about that blasted witch! Help her! Before I wring your neck and drain out your - â
âNiklaus! Calm yourself.â Elijah cut in.
Klaus sighed and gripped Athenaâs hand, rubbing it gently with his. She looked up and met his gaze. âRelax bĂ©bĂ©.â She mouthed to him.
The hybrid sighed deeply and bent over to kiss their intertwined hands. Athena lifted her other hand and ran it softly through his hair to try and calm him down.
âMarcel linked Sophie to Athena.â Sabine whispered.
Heads snapped up towards the witch. âWhat?â
Athena let her head drop deeper into the pillow, rolling her eyes. âIâm getting really sick of Marcel and his games.â
âSheâs the reason weâre still in this bloody mess?! Why arenât we unlinked with this witch already, Elijah?â Rebekah shouted.
Sabine sighed deeply. âMarcel kidnapped Sophie earlier, he used Davina to link both of their lives. He stabbed her with some elixir. Itâs his revenge. Heâs going to kill the baby.
Cursed objects were created a long time ago. We use them so we donât get busted by Marcel for doing magic. The one he must have stolen and used is called the Needle of Sorrows. It was cursed in 1860 when - â
Klaus cuts her off impatient. âJump ahead a few decades and tell us what it does, love?â
Sabine took a deep breath. âIt has only one purpose - â
âTo kill a child in utero by raising her blood temperature.â Athena finishes gruffly.
Klaus and Elijah are both stunned and furious.
âItâs for a miscarriage.â
Sabine nods. âSo, how much time do we have to fix this?â Rebekah asks nervously.
âIt will do what itâs meant to by tonightâs high tide. And believe me, it will work. I saw Agnes use a similar object on a kid who went mad and killed a bunch of priests.â
She had almost forgotten how her beloved aunt also felt the darkness that came from the hands of Marcel Gerard.
âIâd like to have a chat with this Davina. Where can I find her? I wonder if she realizes just how evil her precious Marcellus really is.â Klaus growled loudly.
âYou wonât. Marcel has her hidden somewhere no one knows where.â
âThatâs precisely why we need to unlink you from Sophie. No more danger toward you or the child.â Elijah added.
âWell thatâs it? How can we stop this from hurting her and killing the baby?â Klaus questioned.
Sabine wracked her brain for a solution. âI may know a way to slow the fever down. But, Iâm gonna need some special herbs.â She turns and looks at Rebekah. âIâll text you a list.â
Rebekah looks at the witch dry eyed. Seeing the look she was giving Sabine, Athena tried to reason with her. âRebekah, please, let her do what she can.â Elijah nodded at her in encouragement.
Though Rebekah did not look pleased to be ordered around again, she eventually relented and smiled at them patronizingly.
âFine. Happy to play the fetch girl.â
The blonde stomped out of the room, and shoved the washcloth she was using into Elijahâs chest as she was leaving.
Klaus smiles wryly. âDay one with you in charge, brother, and already the witch linked to Athena has been abducted by zealots.â
Elijah cuts his eyes away from him and turns around to head out the door. âIâm going to find Davina and convince her to unlink them.â
âDo not drag that witch into this, sheâs part of the reason weâre in this bloody mess in the first place!â
âDonât hurt Davina, we need her.â Sabine pleaded with him.
Elijah raised his eyebrows at her. âTo complete the Harvest ritual?â
Sabine stared at him dumbfounded. âYou know about that?â
âOh, youâd be astounded by the things I know.â He responded.
Klaus turned to Sabine. âAllow me to entertain you with todayâs list of priorities. One, unlink your friend Sophie so she no longer controls the fate of the woman carrying my child. Two, convince my brother to accept my heartfelt apologies for some recently dodgy behavior. Three, there is no three.â
Elijah hums. âIâll be going now. Please try and reign in his anger Athena.â
Athena looks towards him and smirks dryly. âIâll try my best.â
Inside the attic of St. Anneâs Church, Davina is sketching with charcoal on the easel in her bedroom when Elijah arrives and leans against the doorway as he knocks on the door. Davina smiles at him as he holds up several pages of Estherâs grimoire wrapped in a cloth.
He owed Davina for undaggering him and letting him go. She was a sweet, young girl. In need of a bit of guidance, and she always had her guard up from past experiences but she was sweet nonetheless.
âI made you a promise.â He winked at her.
Davina grinned at him excited. âCome in!â
Davina spreads one of the pages of Estherâs grimoire on her table and reads it. Elijah holds an elaborately woven knot of rope in his hands.
âItâs a spell of unknotting?â She guessed checking over the page in front of her.
Elijah holds up the knot in his hand. âThis is a sanguinum knot. The witches use it as representational magic. If you can unknot this using that spell, you will have taken a step towards learning control. This is one of my motherâs later spells. It requires much more power than you realize. Now, if you can perform this, then I shall return with another page.â
He walks toward the door, then turns back to her. âA spell of your choosing, next time.â Elijah smiles at her warmly before he leaves.
Davina looks at the spell and the knot on her table and starts to work on the unlinking spell Elijah gave her. She holds her hands over the knot and reads the incantation from the page. Sheâs clearly unfamiliar with Latin and mispronounces the words.
âPhesmatos omnio legares coldate sangorium.â
Davina stared at the knot, however it didnât move or change. She exhaled in frustration and ran her hand through her hair before angrily hitting her easel.
Athena is wrapped in a towel, sitting outside beside the swimming pool. Rebekah stands behind her, checking her temperature, while Elijah assists Sabine with the herbs Rebekah had brought back. He shrugs off his jacket and rolls up his sleeves.
âSheâs burning up! We need to do this now.â Klaus shouts to them.
âGet her in the water!â Sabine gestures towards the pool quickly.
Klaus jumps into the pool and helps Athena in. Sabine mixes herbs in a cup and follows them into the water as well.
Rebekah becomes frustrated. âI donât see how a midnight swim is supposed to help.â
âHer temperature is sky-high. The water, with the help of the herbs, should cool us down.â
The witch hands Athena the herbal concoction. âDrink this!â She turned to Klaus. âYouâre going to have to get her heart rate down.â
âAnd how do you suggest I do that?â He asked.
âHold her. Itâs a natural human remedy to slow the heart rate and reduce blood pressure.â
âThis is never gonna work.â Rebekah says worriedly.
Klaus picks Athena up and holds her bridal-style in the pool. The siphon clings to Klaus and groans as she gasps for breath.
âNik!â She cried out.
Elijah watches her nervous. âDavina will break the link, we just need time.â
âYou asked that witch to break the link when she was the one to create it in the first place?!â Klaus snarled at him.
âListen, I owed her for letting me out of the coffin that you placed me in in the first place. So I gave her a spell to practice, which was the unlinking spell.â
Athena cried out louder than before. âNiklaus!â
Davina is sitting on her bed in her room, studying the spell intently. She stares at the sanguinum knot on her vanity, and after a moment, she stands up and walks over to it.
She picks up the knot with both hands and takes a breath before she begins the spell. This time, she recites it properly.
âPhesmatos omnio legares cordate - â
In the swimming pool at the Mikaelson Mansion, Athena begins hyperventilating.
âI c-canât breathe!â She stuttered out.
Klaus turned Athena around in his arms, holding her up with one of his arms wrapped tightly around her back and the other under her ass.
Athena understood what he was doing and wrapped her legs around his waist and her hands around his back.
Both of their foreheads are pressed against each other. Her hand slowly moves up to his face, and cups his cheek, tears begin running down her face because of the pain sheâs feeling.
âItâs okay sweetheart. Just breathe for me. Take a deep breath please baby.â Klaus is staring deeply into her eyes trying to ease the pain sheâs feeling.
His arms are holding her closely. He feels the baby bump pressed against his abdomen and sighs deeply - praying the two of them will be alright. He doesnât know what heâll do if he loses them.
Elijah and Rebekah watch the scene anxiously.
âC'mon Davina. Please.â Elijah begged silently.
âOkay, long deep breaths, love. Look at me. Long deep breaths, just focus on the sound of my voice.â He lowers his voice to a whisper. âYouâll be okay. Youâll be okay sweetheart I promise.â He whispered, his voice breaking.
In Davinaâs room, she continues the spell.
âPhesmatos omnio legares cordate sangorium.â
The clock on her table chimes as it hits 09:00PM.
Athena screams in pain and thrashes in Klausâ hold.
The knot in Davinaâs hands floats in the air and begins to unknot itself.
Athena starts to gasp as the linking spell begins to lift.
âI feel it lifting.â She groaned out.
The knot completely unravels itself in midair, and Davina smiles and giggles in happiness.
In the pool, Athena looks up at the sky, looking completely relieved. âI just felt it lift.â
Rebekah and Elijah sigh in relief. Klaus mimicked them and pulled Athena closer to him.
âYouâre okay? Youâre sure youâre okay?â He questions her holding her face, staring deeply into her eyes.
Athena starts to calm down, and Elijah looks stunned.
Athena goes to stand up on her own, but Klaus keeps her wrapped up into his arms knowing she was still weak from the spell.
Klaus holds her and he and Athena stare at each other for a long moment. Rebekah and Elijah notice their shared glances, so Klaus quickly moves out of the pool to carry her upstairs to his bedroom.
âThank you Sabine!â Athena shouts to her, just remembering how helpful the herbs were.
Chucking softly Sabine replied. âYouâre welcome Athena.â
âNow if you all donât mind, Iâll be leaving to go find Sophie.â She said climbing out of the pool.
âNo we donât at all, in fact, thank you Sabine.â Elijah said grateful for the witchâs help.
âYes, thank you.â Rebekah echoed.
Sabine nodded and left them inside the compound quickly.
Sabine found Sophie in the mausoleum, she looked around to find something to break her bounds with. Seeing a pair of metal clampers on a table, she grabbed it and used it to break her free from her chains.
âSabine, thank God. Marcel - â
âI know.â She quickly stopped her from going any further. âHe linked you to Athena and stabbed you with the Needle of Sorrows. We unlinked you guys already.â
âOh.â Sophie stared dumbfounded.
âYeah, well letâs go. Get you home and in bed.â Sabine told her. She helped her up and led her out of the mausoleum.
Back at the Mikaelson mansion, both Athena and Klaus lie down in bed facing one another. Athenaâs head rested on Klausâ hand while his other hand traced patterns along her protruding stomach.
âOur baby almost died today.â He spoke softly.
âI know - sheâs a fighter right?â
Klausâ eyebrows drew together. âShe? Itâs a girl?â He asked smiling brightly, dimples and all.
âWell I donât know for sure but I think so.â She whispered. âI want a girl, but even if we get a boy Iâd be happy anyhow.â
âYeah, I know what you mean.â He laughed gently. The siphon moved up closer to him, cuddling into his arms.
âCan I be honest with you?â She asked him nervously.
He lifted his head and looked down at her. âOf course you can love. Always.â
Athena sighed and burrowed her face into the crook of his neck. âIâm really attracted to you. I honestly donât know what to do so Iâm going to just ask you - â
She took a deep breath. âDo you want to be more than two people who share a child, would you want to be together? Date and be in a real relationship together?â
Athena stared at him, watching how he reacted to the news.
Klaus stared back at her shocked. She was attracted to him? He knew he was good looking but his behavior was awful and a major turn off to women sometimes. And here was this gorgeous woman, carrying his child, asking him for a relationship.
Minutes passed. Athenaâs hope deteriorated quickly, and embarrassment flooded her being. âHuh - you know what never mind, please ignore my - â
Before she can finish her statement, Klaus cuts her off with a heat filled kiss. The rest of her words were lost against his mouth. He kissed her gently, carefully, but it wasnât gentleness she wanted, not now, not after all this time of suffering through the attraction she felt for him, the feelings she had developed for him over a small amount of time.
She knotted her fists in his shirt, pulling him harder against her. He groaned softly, low in his throat, and then his arms circled her, gathering her against him, and they rolled over on the bed, tangled together, still kissing. Her on top of him, them together in their own little bubble of happiness.
Breaking away from her slowly, he put his forehead on hers. âI would ask you to be my girlfriend but that seems a bit childish for the both of us - so, how about being my queen?â
Athena smiled at him brightly, laughing out. âYes Nik - Iâll be your queen bĂ©bĂ©.â
They grinned brightly at each other. Time seemed to pass quickly as they laid there talking about different things. Their pasts, the baby, his family. Everything.
Looking across from him, he noticed that Athena had fallen asleep. Smiling softly, he whispered. âGoodnight Athena.â
Wrapping his arms around her, he shut his eyes and joined her in sleep.
Here ya go! Love y'all â€ïž
