There's a post going around Tumblr about how if you're post-menopausal and have bleeding, you should get it checked by your doctor. I brought some minor bleeding I'd had up in a doctor visit earlier this year, prompted by that post, and this week, after a biopsy, I found out I have cancer. It's early stage and the survival odds at 5 years are 99%. I have an oncologist appointment and we may have caught it early enough that surgery alone will be sufficient treatment (no radiation/chemo).

So that post may have saved my life and it may have made my treatment a lot easier too.

If you get into menopause and then start bleeding again, really, get your reproductive innards checked out. The life you save may be your own.

heres my advice to any followers i have who are young. Don't delete things when you think you've outgrown them or they're cringy. If you make youtube videos just private them don't delete them. Save your files, you can bury them in multiple sub-folders if you think they're cringe now but DON'T DELETE THEM! It doesn't feel like it now but years in the future you will look back fondly at who you were and wish you still had those things.

A note to all creatives:

Right now, you have to be a team player. You cannot complain about AI being used to fuck over your industry and then turn around and use it on somebody else’s industry.

No AI book covers. No making funny little videos using deepfakes to make an actor say stuff they never did. No AI translation of your book. No AI audiobooks. No AI generated moodboards or fancasts or any of that shit. No feeding someone else’s unfinished work into Chat GPT “because you just want to know how it ends*” (what the fuck is wrong with you?). No playing around with AI generated 3D assets you can’t ascertain the origin of. None of it. And stop using AI filters on your selfies or ESPECIALLY using AI on somebody else’s photo or artwork.

We are at a crossroad and at a time of historically shitty conditions for working artists across ALL creative fields, and we gotta stick together. And you know what? Not only is standing up for other artists against exploitation and theft the morally correct thing to do, it’s also the professionally smartest thing to do, too. Because the corporations will fuck you over too, and then they do it’s your peers that will hold you up. And we have a long memory.

Don’t make the mistake of thinking “your peers” are only the people in your own industry. Writers can’t succeed without artists, editors, translators, etc making their books a reality. Illustrators depend on writers and editors for work. Video creators co-exist with voice actors and animators and people who do 3D rendering etc. If you piss off everyone else but the ones who do the exact same job you do, congratulations! You’ve just sunk your career.

Always remember: the artists who succeed in this career path, the ones who get hired or are sought after for commissions or collaboration, they aren’t the super talented “fuck you I got mine” types. They’re the one who show up to do the work and are easy to get along with.

And they especially are not scabs.

If the EU manages to get this implemented, it could really improve quality of life for everyone not just those living in the EU.

If this get’s of the ground no western governemnt has an excuse to not at least try the UBI!

to be clear this isn’t some random change.org petition that doesn’t matter, this is the formal proper way for EU citizens to influence what the EU commission discusses. if this gets enough signatures they HAVE to seriously consider how to implement universal basic income across the european union.

Some of you already know this, but I have a kitten named Tali who was born with a rare polyp in her left ear that needed to be removed. Although she had surgery immediately, my vet was only qualified enough to operate on the the surface level of Tali’s ear. He only removed a part of the polyp, and a stem still remains inside the deeper part of her ear.

This stem is prone to trigger secondary infections and could possibly regrow, and already there is occasional discharge coming from Tali’s ear. In order to prevent putting her through long-term hardship and recurring vet visits, I need to consult with a specialist vet surgeon to remove the rest of the polyp from her ear. 

The consultation is around ~$150, which I can cover. However, a CT scan and the surgery itself will be above what my family will be able to afford. According to the price estimates from my vet, it will probably be around $1,200-$3,000, depending on the severity. We do not know how deep the polyp goes, and have only been able to deal with the external part of her ear. I will be looking into pet insurance as well, but even with insurance it won’t cover the entirety of the bill

I feel awful having to ask, but if you can spare anything to donate to Tali’s medical expenses, I would be beyond grateful.

Archive.org is facing a lawsuit

tldr: the Internet Archive/WayBack Machine is super important in term of archived content, billions of stuff are on there, and with the current event happening in the world like stated above,without this tool, it will be hard to properly document what took place. It will be easy for certain people to rewrite history. Dont let them.
