renegade shepard with kaidan be like

A lot of times I see people arguing over wether Kaidan outranks Shepard in ME3 or not. It shouldn't be that important, since when he's aboard the Normandy, Shepard is the commanding officer no matter what.

However, people who debate about this usually do so to blame him for another thing because how dare he point a gun at a superior during the Citadel coup. But at that point, Kaidan is still not back at the Normandy and both of them are already Spectres and Spectres only answers to the Council. I think people tend to forget that because we spend a good part of the games doing missions for Hackett, but they are never an order, the emails and the communications are always on the line of "if you could help us...". You can even say no to the inspection in ME1 and nothing happens because even though Shepard is still technically part of the Alliance, as Anderson says "Now you dont have to answer to us".

So, at the point of the Citadel Coup, Kaidan and Shepard are equals and Kaidan is just doing his job protecting the Council.

But well, people love forgetting context and little details so they can hate freely on the character that hurt their ego 🤷🏻‍♀️
