Tommy heard the words, and they strangled something inside him. He knew what he’d said to Lucy, how he’d tried to tell himself that of course that was all it was. Even Eddie, earlier stating that Buck wasn’t gay was something he carried with him. Evan wasn’t into men. It wasn’t something that even a soulmate bond could change. 

“If that’s what you want it to be,” Tommy said. 

Evan nodded. He was still a little flushed pink from earlier, it made the birthmark over his eye stand out even more. It was such a distinctive thing to catch on his face, Tommy thought he would look strange without it. 

“There aren’t a lot,” Buck admitted. “But it does happen. These two girls on instagram…they run a podcast, actually, they met when one of them married the other’s brother and they’re soulmates. And there are other examples…people do it. Your most important relationship doesn’t have to be romantic. I mean…then you can date whoever you want and so can I. Not that it’s ever gone very well for me, but what I’m saying is that you can still have a girlfriend. Or…or a wife. Kids. It won’t stop us from being soulmates.”

Yes! Eliot had read reports of a mission in Antartica where this exact thing had happened, so he incorporated it in the poem. There is a double meaning, obviously, because it's also a reference to Jesus on the road to Emmaus. But it is very much on purpose. He wrote:

crazy how hozier compared the fact he couldn't tell his relationship was failing because he was too blinded by love to the idea that icarus could not tell he was dying because he was too enamoured by the sun and we were supposed to just carry on living like everything's normal.

the one who makes you see everything in a new light. late night texts. sharing a sweet tea. swapping homework answers. spilling secrets. sitting so close you basically share the same chair. bickering. always coming back around. knowing when the other is sad without having to ask.

the one who just feels different than any before. drive-in movies. the slow but easy build up of connection. unplanned adventures. swimming with our clothes on. loving hard and loving constantly. talking about things we don’t say out loud with anyone else. long, long hugs. 10pm driveway talks.

the one that you know is a risk. physical intimacy. cigarettes on drives with the windows down. hand holding in the drive thru. coffee runs with the dog in the back seat. future plans that will never happen. waking up in a hug. sharing sweatshirts. kisses on cheeks.

and each one will hurt. but each one will feel like euphoria. there will always be love to look back on and appreciate and love to look forward to.

This is who I imagine when I write Olivia and Lily. The girls in the pictures (Anais and Mirabelle Lee) are obviously twins, but the girls in the fic are close enough in age and size that there's not much of a difference. Taller twin is obvi Olivia. Ignore this if you've pictured something else in your mind but yeah just sharing.

Maverick was in the kitchen when a paper airplane narrowly missed the side of his head and expertly landed on the kitchen counter.

Maverick smirked. “Nice flying, Kazansky,” he called over his shoulder, since Ice was behind him in the living room, watching TV.

“Open it,” said Iceman, surprising Maverick by suddenly not being in the living room, but standing in the kitchen doorway instead.

Maverick shot him a quizzical look but then smiled. 

“Why, you want me to critique your folding technique and tell you what you did wrong?” he asked, picking up the paper plane and holding it in his hands..

“I’m not the one doing anything wrong, Mitchell,” Ice told him. “You’re the one who can’t follow instructions - now open up the damn plane.”

Maverick snorted and tossed Iceman a mock salute. Iceman rolled his eyes, but waited.

Maverick carefully unfolded the white paper plane…and saw that it had some writing on it, that had conveniently been hidden in the inside folds.

Will You Marry Me?

Maverick stared at the words, then looked over and stared at Ice.

“I was gonna take a page outta your book,” Ice said as he pushed himself off the doorway and slowly walked over to Maverick.”…But singing The Righteous Brothers in public really isn’t my style.”

“I know, you only do it in the shower,” Maverick mumbled, still staring into Ice’s eyes as he came to stand directly in front of him.

“Well, the acoustics are better in there.” “That’s true…”

“Mav,” Iceman cocked his head to the side to try and determine what the shorter dark-haired man might be thinking “…What do you say?”

Maverick just stared back into his eyes. Searching for a sign that he was kidding, that he wasn’t serious.

But he saw what he always say in Iceman’s eyes…because Ice was always serious.

Ice was serious about him.

He wanted him, forever. 

“I just…” Maverick started, finally speaking again. “…I just can’t believe you managed to ask first. I mean, I had a whole plan and everything.”

Iceman grinned. “Well, is that really a surprise? I beat you at everything.”

Maverick immediately tackled him to the floor and kissed him passionately.

“Not everything,” Maverick murmered against Ice’s lips.

One of my favorite things about Top Gun (1986) is the volleyball scene. Not only bc of shirtless men running around and the pushing of the IceMav agenda (both very crucial to the plot), but also the way they're dressed.

Slider is wearing sweats

And then there's Goose, who's the only one dressed for a random volleyball game in the California heat

I just know Carol packed his bag for him and bc Goose is the only one married, he's therefore the only one ever prepared. Don't let Ice fool you. Mans is also a dumbass but better at hiding it

Holy fuck, did your head hurt. Your ears were ringing really loudly and everything was black. Add to the list your limbs felt like they were full of sand and you were not having a good time. After a long moment, the ringing began to subside enough to make out some (unfamiliar) voices, who seemed to be bickering above you somewhere.

“She needs to go to a hospital. Like, now.” One of the voices argued. “Look at her.”

“And tell them what, Steve, that she fell from the sky?” Another voice, this one younger, replied.

“I don’t know, man, I think Harrington’s right. She doesn’t look so good.” A third voice, this one a bit deeper than either of the others, said. “Add to that the fact that she fell from the fucking sky.”

You tried your best to lift your eyelids, but everything was so heavy. Too heavy to move.
