America is absolutely disconnected to meat
I think I realized this when I had went to see my dad and stepmom one day and asked if I could place my hawk’s food. (A rabbit leg) in the freezer. My step mom was disgusted by the idea that a leg from an animal was in the freezer meanwhile an entire chicken was sitting in the fridge.
Your rotisserie chicken is an entire chicken.
Your pork chop is a hunk of pig.
Your rack of ribs are from a cow’s rib cage.
It’s like Americans view meat as colorful red and pink hued shapes that just exist and come into the world packaged.
You see so many people getting harassed or even having their content flagged for showing how to process or field dress meat when it’s at it’s freshest. Right after culling. For some reason this is considered “gore” by many folks when in reality it’s no more different from plucking a processed chicken after cull.
You also notice that Americans have an idea of what’s normal meat and what isn’t normal meat and there’s racist undertones that I’ve noticed in a lot of these comments left on foreign cooking videos
You have people that claim a video of a man in a different country preparing something like this is “eating a dog.” Meanwhile this is roasted goat.
You have people who’s only perception of an edible fish is in fillet or fish stick form and they call something like this nasty because “Eww there’s a head!” Yeah.. most animals have heads..
Some of ya’ll need to realize what your meat looks like prior to processing and that it’s prepared in different ways. We also need to erase the stigma behind non traditional meats.
Truly, genuinely, as an indigenous person I talk about this exact thing a LOT! Like, don't get me wrong I get a bit squicked when dressing a chicken or gutting and cleaning a fish, lord knows I had really mixed feelings the first time I saw a deers throat slit (I thought it was cruel, until my elder asked me if I would have preferred to let it suffer instead) The truth of the matter is that animals and humans are intertwined. We are food to one another, that's the way of the world and I think people forget that when we champion for humane treatment of animals and when we rail against factory farming we need to remember that removing death is not the goal, removing undue suffering it.
We are just human animals.
I had a similar experience killing my first deer, though I was removed enough from the actual dying (hunted using a shotgun, but a clean shot, through the neck). It was a strange mixture of thankfulness, knowing the deer would go in our chest freezer and feed us through the winter and the parts all go to friends that had use for them, and horror at having taken another life. The meat was good and I made myself help my father with dressing the deer when we brought it home, followed my mother's instructions in the field to begin the process, observed as the various parts were parceled out to meet various needs. We also raised chickens and sometimes turkeys, eating the eggs and adult birds. My least favorite chore was cleaning that hutch and pen.
It's very good, in my opinion, to hunt or raise your own animal meat. If you can't, it's good to visit places that do so you can see the whole process and understand it. I agree there is a kind of disconnect I observe even in my partner, who was born in a city and only has any connection because of their Chinese grandmother who still got whole ducks and fish to cook from the local market. They find themselves thinking of meat only as a saran wrapped chunk of protein and find it useful to remember their grandmother dressing and cooking a duck.
We are omnivorous predators. Most animals will eagerly consume other animal protein, even deer will feed on a carcass opportunistically. We can remove ourselves from the food chain, as they used to call it, as much as we want but we originated within it and are still part of it. I think it helps a lot to understand that. Both of the above posts are on point imo.
My baby

Evening in Lviv, Ukraine💙💛
My own lil' rough doodle of the Immortal Mysterion.
I hope that Snow Day becomes free on Epic Games for the computer one day.
Some of the things people complain the fandom as a whole does are really just done by like a small minority, maybe even less, and could be easily solved if everyone just blocked content they don’t want to see
I will be sitting out on Snow Day that it is on the newer consoles... Not the last generation consoles that I can't afford a newer console.
This beautiful Magical Mushroom lamp LED night light base glows soft and warm just like something out of a fairy tale. Just plug it in and you've got a personal enchanted bedroom for you and your family.

pls can we let Amanda Bynes live in peace
i know the issues around Dan Schneider/Drake Bell/Nickelodeon are getting a lot of traction right now because of the release of 'Quiet on Set'. i watched it, thought it was well done and handled horrible topics/events in a good way.
also, just today, i (unintentionally) saw paparazzi photos of Amanda Bynes for the first time in years.
please leave her alone. i'm sure she was contacted about QOS and chose not to participate. she was clearly harmed by the events that QOS talked about.
just. don't interact with or promote content about her. let her live in peace.
I feel like as a 90s baby its my duty to watch the documentary. But at the same time all my shows that I still watch on paramount to combat my anxiety and depression would be throughly ruined. I knew about Dan, everyone knew about Dan, that's why I could never watch good burger. But all those kids...show business is bullshit.
I am indifferent to what is happening in Russia right now. Because my Ukrainian relatives and friends have to suffer from Russia terror daily.
Happy Birthday Kenny
