every goddamn six weeks there is some problem with signing my kid up for swim lessons. i would hope that at some point they'd figure out how to add classes to that system.
i have had the day off today ("off") because the husband is out of town at adepticon and i have managed to:
- answer multiple work questions (this is not a failure of my workplace, this is a failure of me turning off all my work stuff and then getting distracted)
- finish planning out and taking care of the paperwork for the tadpole's summer
- go to costco
- get gas
- panic that i had lost the tadpole on the 3/4 mile walk between home and school because i was 5 minutes late (and so was he, but from a different direction), driving home to see if he was there, then running back to where i was supposed to meet him only to see him crying on a street corner because i wasn't there and immediately feeling like the worst parent ever(tm). luckily he forgave me and we had a good hug in the park and then he went to play on the playground. (we are trying this thing where he gets to walk home alone from school and it is not doing my anxiety many wonders. which is hilarious given my own latchkey childhood but here we are.)
- finally unpack all the costco stuff from the car
- clean up all the trash in the house and take out the recycling
- be barked at constantly by a grumpy old dog and a hopped up on painkillers and sedatives year old dog who is not allowed to do anything while she heals from being spayed
- take the tadpole to rock climbing class
- fulfill my "you can spend your own money on whatever you want" promise by taking him to buy an analog clock that he's been obsessed with only to find it had sold out
- made dinner while stripping a rotisserie chicken down to bones and then setting that up to make stock tomorrow
- hosted a friend who doesn't want to be alone in her house
i hope tomorrow will actually be chill? hopefully? maybe i can knit. or make progress on the decluttering that is my only actual goal. or meal prep idk.
I did also learn that my most effective pre-workout snack is apparently an apple.
WIPs. (Downstairs knitting, monthly crochet club, upstairs knitting)
Alan wake 2 was a good time and I love Saga Anderson with my whole heart. Also Casey and Estevez and the Koskela Brothers.

This Graph is for yarn but I think it applies to my Fabric too!
Tadpole asked for a bedtime song so I started playing Chasing Cars for him and now he has it on loop which is how i know I am winning the music indoctrination game.
the tadpole is loudly singing "immortals" as he gets ready for the morning.
i just want to sit down in an interrogation room with the developers of my ISP's customer website and have a little chat with them. maybe there'll be a whiteboard. maybe we'll have a little talk about web standards.
you would think that companies would not make websites that wouldn't load their payment page
I am the one they come to here when they need things, want things, fear things. In another time and another place, they would call me a queen. I built this from nothing. And none of it is real.
JESSICA PARKER KENNEDY as MAX BLACK SAILS SEASON 3
Well that was a good show. I thoroughly enjoyed Percy Jackson (and so did everyone else in the house). Steinberg continues to amuse me with his commitment to story motion.
