HEY DEMONS ITS YA GIRL ! so while i work on finishing the set up for my theme , i figured that I would go ahead and post some stuff about my iteration of scorpius hyperion malfoy ! first & foremost , my characterization of scorp is canon divergent & completely ignores c.ursed c.hild as i have been writing my scorp since 2014. he is NOT the result of a full draco malfoy redemption arc -- meaning that scorp is NOT a fully accepting & open minded individual.
- the malfoy family following the war narrowly evaded lifelong imprisonment by working with the aurors and the ministry in hunting down former death eaters. draco & his parents lost their status & power , leaving them to fly under the radar for a handful of years. the aftermath of the war left many scars & in spite of his parents’ constant coddling & care, there was no doubt that draco carried the scars of the war on his heart.
- while he grew enough as a person to realize that the evils of the wizarding world were morally wrong, that hadn’t stopped draco from fully embracing the pureblooded glory of his lineage. In the handful of years following the trials and imprisonments, the remaining pureblood families from voldemort’s side of the word that had narrowly avoided azkaban banded together. it was all draco knew; the death eaters had always been his family -- and while he knew it was wrong deep down in his heart , he couldn’t deny himself the one shred of familiarity he discovered again.
- through this circle , draco met astoria greengrass -- whom he married after a whirlwind courtship. they were both young when the war had swept through the UK & they both held the same scars ; they knew they were wrong , but they both knew of nothing else , nothing more , than what they had been born & raised to comprehend.
- scorpius hyperion malfoy was born on a blustery october night in 2006 to an anxious draco & astoria malfoy -- the first & only child to a couple lost in a web of their own wrongs & rights. both his mother & father coddled scorpius in the way only people who had witnessed great evil could ; draco often fretted over scorpius and kept him from straying too far or playing too rough. and astoria -- astoria wanted nothing more than to sing her baby boy lullabies & pet his hair until he fell asleep night after night.
- having grown up around other purebloods that had banded together after the war’s atrocities , it was almost inevitable for scorpius to absorb and retain internalized prejudice ; while draco himself never outright sneered at lower blood-statuses , it seemed almost implied. as if they were above them.
- having been coddled and doted on all of his life by his mother & father , scorpius is extremely spoiled , arrogant , and easily bothered ; he is also , however , intelligent , shrewd , & lively. his ambition & family lineage landed him a spot in SLYTHERIN -- and during his time at hogwarts , scorpius began to unearth the secrets & blood stains surrounding the malfoy name.
- while he was never able to fully unlearn the prejudice he had internalized growing up , scorpius has begun to slowly make an effort to rework what he knows in hopes of carefully dismantling the stigma surrounding himself & his family. it is a work in progress , surely , but it’s something he is willing to take on if those around him are patient enough to bear with his tantrums & snide remarks.
- soon after graduating , scorpius took a gap year to figure out what he would like to do with his life -- and after a bit of exploring , he took on an internship with st. mungo’s & is currently working there to train as a mediwizard.
