Links, Books and About

As I can’t fit everything into my description box, let’s have a post!

I’m an adult, Australian, autistic, agender, allosexual (abrosexual) aromantic (nebularomantic/arovague and idemromantic). The gods cursed me with mental illnesses, coeliac disease, dermatitis and chronic hand, wrist, shoulder and back pain ... leaving me with an equally-chronic spoon shortage. I make simple stock images for as many shades of the aromantic umbrella as possible, I sew and design cross-stitch pride patches, and I write flash fiction, short fiction and essays while sighing at the novel projects my chronic pain made me surrender. Lastly, I consider myself a loveless aro and have written an essay about that.

If you want to help me survive capitalism as a disabled aro creator, please follow my pointing hands to Patreon and Ko-fi. Patrons get early access to stories, essay posts, images and patterns, as well as a few exclusive stories.

Aro Arrows is an archive of free to use aromantic-spectrum stock images intended for websites, flyers and publications, including:

I’ve also started an archive category for high-res versions of aromantic pride flags. All flags here are 5000 x 3000, 300 PPI images with links to the original announcement post/flag creator.

People should keep in mind that this is a work in progress and is in want of updating with more recent content. It is, however, somewhere folks can begin to find allo-aro-authored information, discussions and community.

Current pages include:

The main hub page also includes links to playlists, other folks’ essays and media posts.

I have a tutorial series for making cross stitch pride patches, ranging from simple square flag designs to text, arrow, ace of spades and heart shapes! If you’re a beginner in hand sewing or embroidery, I recommend starting from the first tutorial and working your way through in order as listed here.

Folks can find my many patterns (including other queer and LGBTQIA+ patterns) archived in my patch pattern gallery.

Most of my fiction is free for anyone to read, even on Patreon!

Folks who are interested in shorter, stand-alone aromantic stories may enjoy:

Folks who want a longer, interconnected series of fantasy short stories and novelettes that aren’t just about aromanticism may enjoy:

Folks who want collections of aromantic stories may enjoy:

Folks who want allosexual and non-asexual aromantic protagonists may enjoy:

[image description: six elongated pixel-style text reading "aroace" striped in the colours of three pride flags. A brown arrow shaft runs across the centre of the letters, forming the horizontal strokes of the letters "A", "E" and "R". A grey arrowhead sits in front of the text; flag-stripe fletching sits behind it. Each image is available in two versions with black or transparent background.

Stripes are coloured in the following aro-ace pride flags: cass (black/olive/orange/coral-pink/green), thelo (purple/white/yellow/green/navy) and unit (violet/lavender/dark blue/aqua/green).

3/7: Artemis

“Artemis we hymn – no light thing is it for singers to forget her – whose study is the bow and the shooting of hares and the spacious dance and sport upon the mountains; beginning with the time when sitting on her father’s knees – still a little maid – she spake these words to her sire: “Give me to keep my maidenhood, Father, forever: and give me to be of many names, that Phoebus may not vie with me.” — Callimachus, Hymn to Artemis

[image description: six arrow images comprised of rows of crosses, akin to cross stitch. The arrow has a grey head, a long shaft coloured in two shades of tan and three or five stripes of fletching radiating outward in diagonal lines from the shaft. The arrow sits atop a black or dark grey background and is outlined in white. The fletching on each arrow is coloured to match one of six different pride flags: acriromantic-spike (grey/green/grey with outwards-facing pink spikes), aroflux aceflux (red to blue gradient), apothiromantic apothisexual (blue/white/black/white/red with black cross), duraromantic (grey/pink/green/pink/grey), icularomantic (mint green/lemon/baby blue/lemon/mint green) and lithromantic / akoiromantic (red/green/white/grey/black).

simple tutorial on how to make those bottlecap buttons you see everywhere

you'll need:

bottlecap•soda tab•safety pin•pliers•sandpaper/file•paint/paint markers/smth to decorate with•clear nail polish

remove the print on the buttons using a file or the sandpaper

(if you wanna keep the print skip this step, use a cloth to protect the print from scratches when folding down the sides of the cap)

fold down opposing sides of the cap, to help add in the safety pin

bend the tab at a slight angle, insert it into the cap. make sure the side of the safety pin that can not open is the one stuck under the tab

fold down one side of the cap to lock the tab in place, then try and press the tab as flat as you can, to lock the safety pin in place (prevents the buttons from moving on the safety pin, if you like rattling buttons, skip this step)

fold down all other sides of the cap

cover the button in one or more base layers of paint

add ur design (i use paint or paint markers for good coverage and vibrant colors)

cover that in one or two layers of nail polish, it will protect the button from rain and the paint from cracking

thats it, lemme know if you want tutorials on anything else, i like making em.

6/7: Frodo Baggins

Having no family of his own, Frodo left his estate (Bag End) and passed on the Red Book to Samwise Gamgee, who named his son after Frodo. [...] Frodo would spend the rest of his days in "a period of reflection and peace" on Tol Eressëa, giving him the opportunity to truly understand his position in Arda before passing beyond the Circles of the World." — Tolkien Gateway

[image description: six different cartoon-style bunting graphics, featuring six pride flags hanging from a brown rope. The flags are rectangular, finishing in a chevron shape, and have rows of brown stitching across the top of the flag and along the bottom of the chevron. First image in each set shows the flags with the topmost stripes facing the left; second image shows the three right-hand flags flipped, so all topmost edges face away from the centre of the bunting.

The first flag on each banner is an aromantic spectrum identity and alternates with the corresponding aplatonic spectrum pride flag. Banners in descending order: aro-spec and apl-spec, cassromantic and cassplatonic, ceaseromantic and ceaseplatonic, cupiroflux and cupioplflux, duraromantic and duraplatonic, mesi aromantic and mesi aplatonic.]
