I am alive! I hope you all have been very well. I commend and thank you all for 10K! Your support and mutual understanding has been most kind to me.  I have been away on my studyblr account, @outiem and have recently created a more personalized blog, @ahnshii which you are all welcomed to follow depending on your taste.  I have been coming back to writing, a lot has happened over the course of my absence that is too great of detail to dabble with, but know I have been well.  I want to consider starting anew, such that my follower count reflects a true number. As such, you’ll see some repeated posts on my personalized blog in time. This account will remain in place and be checked in on a daily, fret not! It will still be updated with aesthetics as well.

Tis a thought but I was wondering if anyone here fancies video games? I’m thinking after 2 weeks when I come back from my vacation to begin streaming again.

I came to a realization recently that I still struggle to properly articulate but: online leftists who have extremely socialist progressive politics but still think its okay to partake in like doxxing and harassment and other toxic practices are eerily similar to conservative Christians who piously go to church every Sunday but still verbally abuse service workers and leave 50 cent tips

Its that same. I guess. Cognitive dissonance between beliefs and actual behavior. That idea that you are a good person because you believe the correct things which conveniently absolves you of having to be conscious of your own behavior and how you treat people. Its okay that you called your Olive Garden waitress a dumb bitch because she brought you bleu cheese instead of ranch with your salad because you can just pray your sins away to Jesus and still get into heaven. Its okay that you told someone who you didnt like on Tumblr to kill themselves because you have “trans rights are human rights” and ACAB in your bio. Its that same kind of Performance of being a Good Person TM while still deciding its okay to treat the people you consider to be “beneath you” like garbage.

Your beliefs are simply step one in determining your personal character, frankly one of the easier steps. The next and more important step is *how* you, personally, treat the people around you. And frankly, you could have the most progressive politics known to mankind but if you still act like a middle school bully at the most minor percieved infraction then you are not a good person. Full stop.

Are we really out here pretending “being irritated with server staff” is harassment? And yeah, different people do require different treatment. Knowing who that’s morally correct to do so is part of being a good person for sure, but trying to claim everyone is a bad person because you find the methods distasteful means that any leftists that doesn’t follow your specific litmus test doesn’t suddenly make them a bad person. Maybe to you it seems like a big deal because you don’t know what actual violence is, and the fact you think online harassment is anywhere close to real life is comical and just screams “the worst I have in life is online”

Hi I have been physically abused at home and I do support the above message because I have SEEN online abuse when people think its ok to finally rip someone to shreds because they fucked up or said the wrong thing, and not just the “haha kys go fuck yourself” shit

It’s wrong. Full stop.

What you do when you think you can get away with it matters and it’s a litmus test of your character.

I have seen people create false accusations against other people over the stupidest shit, get doxxed and harrassed. And the people doing it felt SURE in their belief that they were still a good person because it’s not good people who deserve shit like that, only bad people. And because they were gleefully, willfully harassing people, SURELY that person was a Bad Person™ and deserved it

It’s wrong

“Good” is in the act, not the person. When it comes to abuse there is no “right person” to do it to. You know who thinks “the right people” can do whatever they want, and that any act of cruelty against “the wrong people” is OK? Evangelical Christians. MAGAs. Supremacists of all sorts, because that’s an essential part of what “supremacy” means. Don’t be a supremacist. Don’t be a bigot.

It doesn’t make any difference how you define “right people” and “wrong people” either, because this is an entirely orthogonal distinction. Yes, a socialist queer person with ADHD can still be a bigot. I have several such on my block list, and reading this thread it looks like I have one more to add. One of the most important battles we’re fighting is not left vs. right or authoritarian vs. libertarian/anarchist. It’s tolerance, inclusion, pluralism vs. intolerance and hate. We don’t win any of these battles by adopting a scorched-earth “good people vs. bad people” mindset. That’s how we become the abyss.

The way to be good is to consistently do good things. Not to say the right slogans and wear the right symbols and then be an utter asshole. Being good is not an identity you’re born with or earn once; it’s a life-long exercise of thoughtfulness and discipline.
