Saw this Trucks Discourse on facebook and I'm not part of that world but yeah that one on the left is delightful and I really had no idea just how wasteful and pointless the other kind is until this comparison

it’s so sad that they’ve been selectively bred for size and aesthetics over their health. look at that pushed-in muzzle—there’s no way the one on the right can breathe properly

Maybe I was just never around the type of people to get me into it, but I've never had the desire or felt the need for one of these oversized behemoths. Or any multi-hundred thousand dollar vehicle, or watch, or anything like that, I simply don't see the point in them.

interviewer: Mr. Wayne, have you heard of the popular internet jokes about you dating Batman?

bruce wayne: Yes I have heard of them, but if I were going to date any superhero it'd be Superman and not an overdramatic furry

#clark kent suddenly there breathless: Mr. Wayne could you elaborate on your desire to date superman?

a quote that helps me with this feeling: “The past is gone, and cannot harm you anymore. And while the future is fast coming for you, it always flinches first, and settles in as the gentle present.” - WTNV episode 12, The Candidate

On this day, 8 April 2013, former Conservative prime minister Margaret Thatcher died. Street parties broke out across the UK, particularly in working class areas and in former mining communities which were ravaged by her policies. Her legacy is best remembered for her destruction of the British workers’ movement, after the defeat of the miners’ strike of 1984-5. This enabled the drastic increase of economic inequality and unemployment in the 1980s. Her government also slashed social housing, helping to create the situation today where it is unavailable for most people, and private property prices are mostly unaffordable for the young. Thatcher also complained that children were “being cheated of a sound start in life” by being taught that “they have an inalienable right to be gay”, so she introduced the vicious section 28 law prohibiting teaching of homosexuality as acceptable. Abroad, Thatcher was a powerful advocate for racism, advising the Australian foreign minister to beware of Asians, else his country would “end up like Fiji, where the Indian migrants have taken over”. She hosted apartheid South Africa’s head of state, while denouncing the African National Congress as a “typical terrorist organisation”. Chilean dictator general Augusto Pinochet, responsible for the rape, murder and torture of tens of thousands of people, was a close personal friend. Back in Britain, she protected numerous politicians accused of paedophilia including Sir Peter Hayman, and MPs Peter Morrison and Cyril Smith. She also lobbied for her friend, serial child abuser Jimmy Savile, to be knighted despite being warned about his behaviour. Margaret Thatcher was eventually forced to step down after the defeat of her hated poll tax by a mass non-payment campaign. Pictured: Jimmy Savile welcoming Thatcher to hell, reportedly. She also allowed the british army to go to war over the Malvinas Islands, forcing houndreds of men to slaughter a bunch of kids, because when the british saw what they were up against wanted to retreat and weren't allowed.

Yom HaShoah

today is Yom HaShoah. it's the Jewish Holocaust Remembrance Day. *This is going to be a very long post*

Here's a couple things:

- if we held a minute of silence for every Holocaust victim, we would be silent for 11.5 years. related to this, on Yom HaShoah in Israel, there is a siren that goes off in the middle of the day and the entire country comes to a complete standstill for 2 minutes. cars-stopped-on-the-highway-people-getting-out-to-stand type of standstill. it's truly one of the most powerful things I have ever experience and it's also genuinely scary. here's a video of it:

- we are quite possibly the last generation to live amongst Holocaust survivors. LISTEN TO THEM. TALK TO THEM. SHARE THEIR STORIES. don't ever fucking forget. i don't think people understand that its heartbreaking to listen to Shoah survivors and realize they're going to die soon. it's scary if you think about it too hard. it's frightening because it wasn't so long ago (for example, my mom told me that growing up, a lot of her friends parents had numbers tattooed on them from the camps). it's heartbreaking because people deny the Holocaust and want to forget about it as it is and once there are no more survivors it will be easier than ever to do so. to listen and watch some survivor testimonies, go to namesnotnumbers.org or just search "names not numbers" on youtube

In honor of Eileen, many are also donating to the National Association of the Deaf. They focus on promoting the rights of deaf people in the United States.

This really is so amazing! I’m so happy that our family took a not-so-great finale and turned it into something positive. Cheers!
