It was hard to for her to be mean to anyone, much less Dash Hastings, father of Holly’s child. Or so she liked to joke. She’d gotten so attached to Darcy that she was practically her own mini me and considering that the girl was pretty much her own source of light in her life, she didn’t want to do anything that might jeopardize that. “I’m fine,” she told him, though she still looked miserable. “Just thinking about how long and stupid my life is gonna be.” She managed a sheepish smile, pushing two cupcakes in his direction, a sort of peace offering. “Only cause you asked so nicely.”

Dash gave her a look that said he didn’t believe her for a second. Holly always had this energy about her, like she was determined to live her best life at all times but today she seemed off. When she finally confessed why Dash nodded his head. “Shit, that’s... well yeah that’s kind of a lot.” Dash cleared his throat. “But stupid? Long sure, but you never crossed me as boring Holly Chevalier. You can’t tell me you don’t have a long list of things you want to do in life, you’ve got the whole world at your fingertips. Maybe it's not the one you pictured but it’s something.” Dash offered and he was sure she probably didn’t need some pep talk, he probably sounded rediculous but he wanted her to know it would be okay. “I’ll do you one better and only take one.” He joked.

The high of monster jam had worn off faster than she’d wanted it to and she’d been thrust back to this life that she didn’t much care for anymore. She’d spoken with her mother over facetime and she’d commented on her skin, how she didn’t seem to have aged a bit since she was about twenty years old. There were times when Holly could easily pretend she was living a normal human life, she’d only been a vampire for about six years after all, but she’d been brought back down to reality all too quickly. She didn’t think there was getting out of this funk, but she was certainly attempting to by eating her way through a dozen cupcakes. All placed in front of her in different flavors, she’d taken a large bite of one when a familiar face neared and through a mouthful of food all she managed was, “Don’t even think about it– I’m not in a sharing mood.”
image
Dash spotted Holly and approached with a smile, he was however caught off guard by her words. “Seriously?” Dash held his hands over his heart. “You wound me, Chevalier. You wound me.” He shook his head looking sad. “You alright there Hols?” He said looking at her stash of cupcakes before settling into the chair across from her. “You sure you don’t want to share just one with little old me?”

“Only on days that end with y,” she managed with a smile. Though she was going through her inner turmoil it was always in her to make a fucking joke about it. “Maybe, I don’t know I’m getting kind of used to it by now but it doesn’t mean I like it. I mean– we don’t even look alike.” A laugh this time, her fingers plucking the strings idly, no actual song playing. “Yeah well, wouldn’t you be cagey? What would you do if you ran into yourself in random supe town USA, huh? You got your life put together? Cause I am definitely maladjusted in that case.”
image
“It all makes sense now,” Dash returned the joke as he nodded his head. “Hey think about how messed up it was for the rest of us. Confusing as all shit if we’re being completely honest. You can’t blame anyone for getting it twisted. You weren’t the only one who had no idea there were two you and bullshit you look scarily alike. I honestly have no idea how to tell you apart so I’m just gonna be kind of screwed there.” Nodding his head he shrugged. “Fair point. But didn’t you want answers? I mean I’d want to know what the hell was going on. I’d want answers.”

“Oh, sure I did. Absolutely, one hundred percent.’ she replied with a grin, “A fool, if someone wants you to get physical, they should be buying you dinner first, c’mon Hastings.” she pretended to scold with a roll of her eyes, the action ruined by the smirk still present on her lips. “I do not scrunch.” she protested, though even as she said it she was doing it.
image
“Get your mind out of the gutter Wilde,” Dash teased shaking his head. “OH man is that the case? I feel like I’ve been doing my whole life wrong now. I’m questioning everything I’ve ever known and ever done.” Dash said with a chuckle now. “You scrunch.” He deadpanned without hesitation. “You absolutely scrunch, I’m getting a photo next time just to capture the moment and the evidence.”

               DASH HASTINGS

(age.) thirty three (species.) werewolf (occupation.) firefighter (residency.) born and raised in Hollow Grove (mirror.) scott eastwood

❝  a pavement of the past

The Hastings line is derived of the oldest werewolves, their history going all the way back to the beginning of the werewolf line. The Descendants of Nate Greyson’s child, the Hastings were a prestigious and brave line of wolves. For Dash Hasting’s being born a Hasting had been a fairly normal life. His grandparents had lost their lives in the supernatural wars and when it came time for his parents to settle down they knew there would be no better place then Hollow Grove. It gave his two wild wolf parents a place to raise their new family but gave them the safety of a place they could still be themselves. In Hollow Grove, they had a place they could raise their children in light of what they were and the Hastings were able to embrace their lineage once more. It wasn’t long after the town was settled that word of the soon to be birth of Dash Reginald Hastings came to Andy and Fiona Hastings.

For Dash being a Hasting meant loyalty, it meant family, and there wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for his family. The Hastings had a good life, they were something right out of a painting, healthy children, happy parents, it was the best life a kid could ask for growing up. His father was the town sheriff, his mother a local jewelry maker and together they gave Dash and his siblings everything they could ever want. Dash was an adventurous kid, always running through the woods and dreaming of someday becoming a wolf himself. Although as a born werewolf he knew that most likely meant triggering and that was a reality of who he was that he never could get comfortable with. As he grew he was everything you would expect out of Hollow Grove’s golden boy, he played football, baseball,  and basketball for the local high school and was even named prom king. It was something that Dash carried with him, the expectation to do the right thing and to be the good guy always hanging over his head.

These were the very things that pushed him into his future. After graduating, Dash began working toward his dream of becoming a firefighter. By twenty-five he’d established a good life for himself, he’d made the squad at the Hollow Grove Fire Department and was getting to place where he was ready to settle down with his longtime girlfriend. He’d taken all the steps laid out for him, done everything he was told to do, and Dash had expected the happily ever after to follow. Of course, as most things go, things were picture perfect right up until the moment they weren’t. It had been Sunday tradition since the day the children had been grown and ready to leave the house that the family would get together for Sunday dinner. Unlike most Sunday’s though Dash was running late this April day in 2012. They’d gotten a call at the end of his shift and they’d gotten back late. Oliver was waiting for him at the station when he returned and the two headed to their childhood home for dinner.

Everyone would tell him he and Ollie were the lucky ones that day, for if they had been on time they would have suffered the same fate of their family. Dash and Ollie returned to their childhood home that day prepared for BBQ in the backyard and playing in the tree house with his little brother Tommy, instead when they arrived they found their family murdered in cold blood. The act of a vampire or possibly multiple vampires. It was the most brutal crime in Hollow Grove history that would go unsolved, while it was a safe haven there had been crimes throughout its history that would never be solved. The murder of the Hasting’s family would go down in its history as one of them. Dash had quite literally lost his mind that day, the downward spiral of guilt and grief tearing at his very seams. To his relief he hadn’t lost everyone, he still had Oliver. Regardless though it was a tragedy that would eat away at him for the next five years.

For over, a year Dash hid behind his golden boy charm letting those who remained live in ignorance that he’d be okay.  First, he pushed his fiance away, calling off the wedding and watched as she fleed from town in her heartbreak. Once he’d successfully self-destructing that relationship things really grew dark for him. Beneath that though brewed a rage inside him that could not be calmed, the werewolf in him scratching desperately at the surface as it tried to break out. It was a darkness that Dash hadn’t even known he was capable of but it reared its ugly head often. Violent outburst began to worry people but Dash seemed capable of brushing it under the rug with one charming smile. Then his rage became too much and his violent outburst couldn’t be stopped. December 2012, he’d find himself at a dive bar just outside of town. The night is mostly a blur for Dash but does remember the man starting in on him and it ultimately led to the two getting into an altercation in the parking lot. The werewolf gene that had been dormant for so long burst its way to the surface and that night Dash triggered his curse.

Naturally, the pack welcomed him in hoping to give the young wolf some guidance and Dash would spend the next five years trying to atone for what he had done. Every day he tries desperately to suppress the underlying darkness in himself and to never allow those violent tendencies to show themselves. He wants so desperately to be that golden boy everyone sees him to be. Last few years, Dash’s life turned upside down once more. His former fiance returned to town with news that she had been pregnant when she’d left and he had a five-year-old daughter Darcy, he also discovered not long after that that he was the father of another child as the result of a one night stand he had with a friend. From the life of an eligible bachelor to the father of two his life changed rather quickly. Just as quickly as Dash settled with the idea of being a father, things would change quickly once more during the Bitter Ball when his ex-fiance was murdered for a blood sacrifice to create hybrids of Cassie Cresswell and the mother of his other child. She went crazy leaving Valarie behind with Dash and with Darcy’s mother gone he was left on his own with two small children. Then Callie, his oldest sister, came home and Dash’s world changed once more. He was so beyond happy that his sister was alive. She instantly moved in with Dash and Oliver and their family felt a little more complete as they helped him raise the two girls. After the bombing of Summerdale, their home would get a little more crowded when his cousins moved in with them. Dash loves the businesses of his life and his home and it almost feels as though things are back to normal or at least a new version of normal.

❝  the nature of the beast

Dash Hasting’s is every bit the golden boy people paint him to be. At least most of the time he is. Charming and rather endearing most of the time he has an easy way of talking to people. It helps after all that he has a good sense of humor and strong need to protect the ones he loves. As a werewolf he was born and raised on pack law, something instilled in him from the very day he was born. Because of this Dash is loyal and true, and he is constantly trying to do what he believed to be right. Underneath the golden boy image though Dash greatly struggles with the grief and loss of his family. The pent-up rage over the last five years has left him struggling to contain an underlying darkness. It’s a side of him that Dash never wishes to embrace but at times it feels like its scratching at the very surface of his life.

With his head down, hands buried deep in his pockets, Ethan walked along the sidewalk letting his wolf eyes guide him through the pitch black. It seemed like the right time to come to town, new moon and all. New moon, new leaf. At least that was what he hoped. A new leaf and sanctuary from his father’s deranged pack. But before he could fall too deep into his own thoughts, a bright light blinded him. Turning to face it, Ethan pulled the hood from his head, squinting thought the light in an attempt to see who, or what, was coming his way.

Dash needed to blow off steam, with everything going on in town right now it felt like the place was boiling over with the news of the Clave hearings and it had Dash on edge that something bad was going to happen and so he ran.  Hearing some noise dash flipped on his flashlight to see what it was only to find himself clearly interrupting someone else out doing the same damn things. “Shit, sorry bro. I didn’t mean to blind you there.”

Pippa grinned a little, biting her lip to stifle the giggle that was threatening as his comment, “Kinky, do you at least make sure people buy you dinner first or do you just jump straight to the getting physical part?” she replied, unable to help herself. He made it too easy. “Oh, totally, that’s … totally where my mind went.” she bit her lip to hide her smirk. “Little scrunching thing? I do not scrunch, what scrunching thing?”
image
“You know that's not what I meant,” Dash said with a gasp as he pointed a finger at her before he chuckled softly shaking his head. “Also I am a gentleman so of course, I buy dinner first, who do you think my momma raised.” Dash continued to shake his head. “Oh, there is a scrunch, right there in the bridge of your nose. I know I saw it. Can’t tell me otherwise.”

The first time she decided to busk she’d been nervous, worried about being recognized as the Supreme after meeting her and the invasion by the Clave, though, those people still scared her, now though, it was like clockwork to her, this was one of the ways she’d made money, the other waitressing so terribly it was a miracle she hadn’t been fired yet. This though, this was what she was good at and she’d just finished playing a request before she spotted a familiar face. A face that wasn’t alone. “Hey–” She leaned forward, pads of her fingers still on the strings. “Dash, right?” For a moment she wondered if she should worry about causing him any more grief, he’d spent enough time confused over her appearance. “Remember me?” It was a joke, of course, but, well— she was in a surprisingly good mood.

This was probably never going to be not confusing for Dash. When the woman who looked like Issy addressed him in an unfamiliar manner he crinkled his nose and realized it wasn’t Isabelle at all but the girl with the same face. It was too much for his mind handle honestly. “Yeah, yeah, I’m Dash... Ever right?” Dash said pointing at her as if he were thinking about it. “ I feel like you might hang me if I ask if you’re Isabelle again,” It was clear now that she was not. "Don’t take this the wrong way but I’m surprised to see you, I figured you would have bolted from town by now, you seemed kind of... cagey last time I saw you.”

“This is…. kinda wild,” the young wolf admitted, eyes scanning the growing crowd of monster jam participants. While Nome had been a relatively lively safe haven, Hollow Grove was by far larger than her hometown. And twice as ready to throw an expansive party. “You’re telling me this happens every year?”
image
“Every single year, I don’t if it's wilder now or during those Woodstock days. There isn’t a lot of pictures from that time so I honestly think they’re trying to cover up something. My money is on Nate streaking or something wild.” Dash joked with a shrug of his shoulders. “Are you having fun?”

Geog Morgensen was a man of many different facets but the one who got publicly drunk? On tequila? No, that was not him. Yet there he was, fully aware of the slightly spinning horizon, his uneasy stomach, and sipping water he prayed wasn’t vodka. It tasted fine, but Jose liked to numb his tongue first.
“If there is a goddess, you will speak quietly and take this to get me greasy food,” he grumbled and offered neatly folded bills to the nearest person. Looked up and saw someone familiar. Two of them, technically. “Dash?” he asked while pulling a healing root to his mouth to chew on.
@dashhastings

Dash made his way back to Monster Jam after dropping the girls off, when he got back it was clear that he’d missed out on all sorts of fun. Geog was a prime example of that if he had to be honest. Dash chuckled as the other man tried to hand him some bills. “You trying to buy me dinner Morgensen, I worry I might be taking advantage of your current state.” Dash said his brow crinkling together. “That’s me, what the hell happened to you Morgensen?”
