polish government has opened a website for ukrainians seeking safety and trying to cross the ukrainian-polish border:

as of 13:10 polish time, it has been said as many people as possible will be let through the borders. they are also supposed to let through children who do not have passports, as to not divide families.

Gov.pl is a legit website connected to the polish government i use it to look at tax info and school stuff (it has the lessons for the teachers written out) and driving license info. So this is legit!!!
Ukrainian friends, you can also cross the border to Slovakia, with or without a passport, or at least that's the latest update from our Ministry of Interior. You must prepare yourselves for waiting in lines as they check every individual vehicle upon entering (waiting times according to our news are hours long because of shitty capacities but hopefully after today the officials will figure out a more effective system). If anybody has a link too, I'd be grateful as I haven't found anything useful prior to adding to the post. I hope you all stay safe.

In 2014, Russia annexed a part of Ukraine (Crimea) and since then has been funding and arming Pro-Russian separatist and terrorist groups that have seized Donbas, an eastern region in Ukraine. Russia has been funding a civil war in Ukraine, essentially. Recently, the separatist groups have been sending civilian women, children and elderly out of Ukraine and into Russia, but leaving fighting-age men inside. These separatist are directly controlled by Kremlin (the government of Russia) and they are how Russia has been leading a proxy war on Ukraine since 2014.
But now, Russia has sent their own troops in, which is an invasion. They are doing it under the pretence of ‘peacekeeping’, but this is an obvious lie.
Russia accuses Ukraine of aggressing on Donbas and on Russia, prompting the war on Russia and conducting genocide on its own people. None of this is true. Russia is the one arming Pro-Russian terrorists in Ukraine, Russia has been surrounding and provoking Ukraine with military, and is the one that has been spreading misleading historically-inaccurate disinformation. It’s what Russia did in Georgia in 2008 and similar to what Germany did in Poland in 1939.

We are 3 weeks into the antivaxx trucker protests in Ottawa and I really want one specific long-term outcome from all of it, and that is for antivaxxers to gain a reputation as people who will shit on your lawn. There were multiple reports way back in the first weekend of human beings leaving turds on the porches of houses that hung pro-vaccine signs or pride flags from their balconies, and while that is absolutely disgusting I so badly want to be able to use that as a comeback if someone tries to be antivaxx at me. If someone says they won't be vaccinated because it causes autism or whatever I want to be able to look them in the eye and say "do you also poop on your neighbours' lawns like a dog?" and for everyone to understand what I am referring to. When suburban white moms refuse to believe in science we should be able to turn to the absolute humiliation of being a Lawn Pooper to get them to shut up. Do you want your kids to be known as the weirdos who take dumps on porches? no? then vaccinate them.
the canadian protests inspired some braindead filth to do the same here in aotearoa new zealand and they’re currently camped outside the parliament building with pink eye running rife through their groups... and they’re also using the world war one cenotaph monument as an open air toilet so uh, this is definitely a theme i think

I feel like theres too many people still not understanding the freedom convoy. These truckers consistently sleep on the sides of highways to do their jobs, leave their families to do their jobs, wait 90days for paycheques even after doing their jobs. They shouldnt have to give up their freedom of choice to yet again be able to do their jobs. They already give up so much so that everyone can live their lives and have things they need. You are able to easily access goods and services because of them. How much more should they have to give up before they can just do their jobs? Vaccine passports never should have been a thing to begin with.

"being a trucker is hard in these specific ways. how DARE you support public health measures that are entirely unrelated to and don't actually help alleviate any of the problems i've just listed?" like, fuck, if there was a protest that focused on making sure truckers got paid on a reasonable schedule, or on getter a decent work-life balance so they can see their families more often, or allowing better coverage for accommodations and more reasonable schedules so that they didn't have to sleep on the side of the road? fuck yeah, all for it. but getting the vaccine isn't giving up shit.
