Of Dark and Broken Things- Part Two: A Man Named Sam Winchester

In the weeks following that dream, Chicago was wrecked by a string of natural disasters. Fires, storms, and even earthquakes, rocked the city to its core and left a trail of rubble in its wake. Everything, including your small apartment, was left with a layer of dust as the days went by. 

Chicago: the city you’d finally settled down in after a lifetime of running. The city where you’d gotten your first real job, your first real apartment, deposited your first real check and called your foster mother for the first time in years. This city was a home of firsts for you, and you knew its blood ran deep in your veins. 

So, that made it even more troublesome, that your abilities were somehow linked to everything that had happened to your beloved hometown. 

It didn’t make sense, it couldn’t have even been possible, but you knew they were connected. You didn’t have any actual evidence, only a feeling. A feeling so similar to the one you’d had in that bookstore in Phoenix so long ago, that you knew you’d be a fool to ignore it. To ignore what your gut was telling you to be true. 

But, none of that changed your initial shock and terror, when two armed men in flannels came bursting through your door one night.

I’m super excited for this one because I’ll be combining the supernatural world, Greek Mythology and a little bit of Witchcraft! I’m definitely in the Halloween mood so get ready! :)

Growing up you’d always been different, an outcast, but it wasn’t until the age of 9 that you figured out why. You used to think it was because of your too-curly brown hair, or midnight black eyes that didn’t seem to match anybody else’s at school. But then you read someone’s mind for the first time, and things had changed pretty quickly. 

That very same day you’d discovered that you could make things move without touching them, just by staring or pointing your chubby-9-year-old finger in their direction. You’d made plastic stars and feathers fly through the room long into the night, twirling and laughing as they circled around and around. It was only when the clock struck 12, and your foster mother walked in, did your smile fade. 

She’d kicked you out without hesitation, giving you 15 minutes to pack your things and locking the front door behind you as you made your way down the street. That was the first of many times you’d be made to feel like a freak, by others and yourself as well. And as you walked out into the night, out into a new world that you'd have to face alone, you’d felt this tug that had never been there before. 

It was a pull towards everything you’d been taught was wrong, and the only word that came to mind when trying to describe it was darkness.
