Hey everyone!

I have a close friend who has never seen TOP and would really love to go to the Detroit show with her husband. The only thing is that they can’t afford it. I was thinking of starting a small fundraiser for them to go. It would only be $150 for the two of them and I will pay a portion myself. Money is tight for me as well. If any of you would be willing to donate a couple dollars to this cause please comment or message me and I’ll set it up.

Thank you!

As if it wasn’t already official: The Clique is Disgusting

RIP to the ones who don’t understand that equating a human being to a sex toy and reducing her value to her genitals is sexist and gross, no matter your gender or what your opinion are about a dumb TV show. No one cares about this blog anymore so I know I’m talking to a void and the rest of you are like talking to a wall, but for those of you who do see this and agree — don’t stay silent. Keep voicing your thoughts. Challenge this line of thinking. This is the REAL toxicity. This will be one of my last posts on this blog. I don’t want to be associated with the Clique anymore. People like this have ruined this community for me. I hope you’re happy.

Did you know there’s a video of Tyler Joseph from many years ago where he fat shames a girl? It’s on YouTube. I’ve seen it with my own two eyes. You’re good at finding things so take a gander. It disappointed me and made me sad for a few days, but then I got over it. Because he was young, and he grew up in a white suburban Christian bubble like a lot of us do, and I remember being that age and being ignorant af and saying things I shouldn’t say. That’s part of growing up and learning and evolving. I forgave Tyler for a past mistake and he’s only let me down a couple times since, but nothing that would make me lose faith in this band or their message.

If you want to be a good force in the world: Do good. Don’t be a shitty internet troll. I wish I didn’t have to come to this blog every time the Clique acts like a bunch of dumb ass bully babies but here we are. No memes for you ever again until you stop being gross and start fighting against the inner poison in this fandom.

Using buzz words and fancy social justice terms and cancelling someone or something because they do or say one thing you don’t like or someone told you to not like (bc then you’d be problematic too OH NO, THE HORROR!) does not make you cool, woke, or righteous when you are simultaneously spitting venom into the universe. But you wanna smear black paint on your hands and neck and cosplay the Trench era and idolize two white guys without question while pretending you’re so open-minded and kind? Miss me with that fake ass mess and if you disagree with me you can die mad about it.

I have a lot of feelings about this and it’s kind of a unique perspective but point blank: As an overweight individual who has struggled with an eating disorder most of my life and continues to, and a fan of dark comedies, and comedy as a method of coping, I’m really excited to see this show.

The outrage comes from a 90 second clip of a 12 episode show. Basically, people saw Debby in a fat suit and lost their damn minds. Body positive “role models” are calling the show dangerous, fat phobic, and are upset that a fat actress wasn’t cast instead.

1. The story is not about a fat girl or making fun of fat girls. It’s a story about a girl who was fat with an eating disorder. She gets punched in the face and can’t eat for awhile, so she loses weight. When she gets back to school in the fall, people think she’s hot and begin to treat her better simply because in their eyes she looks better. The girl thinks it’s total bullshit that these people are treating her well now that she isn’t plus sized because she had value before she lost the weight, and vows to get revenge. I assume it becomes like a Mean Girls scenario where she embraces the popular girl trope in order to infiltrate the culture that tortured her so she can get payback.

2. Aside from the Idiot Internet of only “body positive” assholes, this hate movement is mostly made up of misogynistic twenty one pilots fans who have hated Debby Ryan for many years for dating the drummer, Josh Dun. Spoiler: They’re basically married. These vicious kids have been after her for years and once they saw the fat suit they finally had a true reason to try and take her down. I swear I’m not in this deep by choice lol, if you’re a fan of the band and Debby and follow the right accounts you just see it. Over and over and over.

3. The show’s creator wrote her own story as a dark satire. She was a suicidal teen with an eating disorder and she was full of anger and wanted revenge. Not unlike Mean Girls, it’s a cautionary tale about things like using revenge as a way to feel powerful, eating disorder awareness, body image, etc. This story is a valid one that has a right to be told and it can’t be told by a plus-sized actress because that erases the entire core point of Patty’s anger.

Example of a problematic fat suit: Shallow Hal, because instead of giving an opportunity to a plus-sized actress, they put Gwenyth in a fat suit. Debby is in a fat suit because you can’t make a person gain enough weight and lose enough weight safely in the amount of allotted shooting time to make either “fat” or “skinny” versions look believable in the satirical world you’re building. I mean give me a damn break.

some friendly reminders:

- josh and tyler care about you - they’re not assholes and never have been - let them help you, but don’t let them define you - everyone is entitled to their opinion - civil discourse is dope - blurryface mysteries are meant to invoke wonder, not fear - bands have a lot less control over things than we realize - perfection and permanence don’t exist - live in the moment - be kind to each other - the clique should be the new colossus, not a trump rally

+ tyler and josh are both neurodivergent + it is not “romanticizing” mental illness when you speak about your mental illness, claim it, own it, share it, or use it to create art. you are free to do and say what you like regarding your own brain. you’re allowed to do what you need to do to get through the day. this applies to josh and tyler + everyone is allowed to make mistakes and to learn and grow from them

+ forcing a sexuality on someone or generally thinking you are privileged to know the details of someone’s personal life is wrong

+ attacking/cyber bullying tyler and josh’s friends, family, and significant others auto-removes you from the purpose of this movement and i wish you luck in finding the guidance you need to stop being awful

+ everyone is problematic. even you. right now. in ten years you’ll look back and understand

+ harassing other fans is crappy of you

+ pitting women against each other is crappy of you and an insult to the humanity of those women

+ women are allowed to: 1. have feelings, 2. not like other people

+ your idols don’t owe you anything
