To The Substitute Art Teacher - Jordan Bolton

I drew @hangingfire as my recipient for a craft swap, so I had the great pleasure of:

1. knitting a nautilus (pattern by Hansi Singh, whose designs I adore)

and

2. making a Terror art quilt (designed by me, and this is the craft project I was secretly working on during Terror Camp 2023)

Learning applique this year has made me too powerful, now I can paint with fabric and sketch with thread!

(Too much thread. I can't give you an exact amount but there's definitely more than a kilometer of thread on here. Or perhaps, given the subject matter, I ought to say I used well over half a nautical mile of thread. I planned to exercise restraint in my thread painting, but it turns out I have none.)

The Terror x His Dark Materials AU 🧭

This AU has been on my mind ever since I first watched The Terror and I finally turned it into drawings. The two worlds just fit so well together, both being set in the far North and the concept of souls playing such an important part (with the dæmons being the physical manifestation of a human soul and Tuunbaq devouring them). I also really love the decade-ambiguous setting and style of His Dark Materials and it was so much fun reimagining the Terror characters in this universe. And of course matching everyone with a dæmon was the best part.
