I love British mystery shows set in beautiful peaceful quaint idyllic towns full of simple happy folk who are constantly murdering the shit out of each other.

Also increasingly aware that a LOT of people "manage" getting through the 40+ hour work week by sleeping less than is healthy and relying on stimulants like coffee and energy drinks to keep them going.
For people who are unwilling or unable to do this...work really does just dominate your life. Like we really should not have to rely on unhealthy practices just to have a social life or keep on top of housework or whatever.
I know I post about this a lot but I'm so TIRED all the time and it's just so depressing that this is how we're expected to spend the one life we have.
Just curious...
👀 And do share why if you feel so inclined!
Some of these, e.g. Abdurasulova (2023), seem to be using ChatGPT for translation, which is definitely not great given its track record for inserting made-up information, but also not much ethically worse than using any other automated translation system.
Others (e.g. Sahu et al. (2023)) seemed to use it for simple formatting tasks - again perhaps not advisable, and certainly poor proof-reading, but nothing too sinister.
However, Łaskawiec-Żuławińska et al. (2023) generated their whole methodology section using ChatGPT.
Baghel (2023) straight up used it to generate a literature review.
Unsurprisingly, literally the second reference in the "review" is entirely fabricated, appearing nowhere but the paper it is referenced in.
Joachim Müller does actually exist, but is a Professor of Agricultural Engineering who most recently published about toxoplasmosis, and phosphorus in animal manure, not transport administration.
I didn't delve any further into the "literature review", or the rest of the list of publications, but it's clear that papers are getting through the review and editing stages of publication with obvious use of generative AI. What's more concerning is that this is likely a small fraction of the work "written" by ChatGPT - these are just the ones who were careless enough to leave the prompt response in the final published text.
Ok new game. What's the thing you're a fan of that you're the most pretentious about. NOT the most pretentious thing you're a fan of, I mean the thing that makes *you* act like one of those "oh yeah? Name five of their albums" people. There is a difference
Bad news: everyone who has said some variation of "umm actually I don't do that 🙏 I'm a good person" is more annoying than the rest of us confessing to our nerd crimes. Yes you do. I guarantee it you do. You're saying Um, Actually right now

that smoking in public poll got me thinking. you don't get to waffle about being neutral with these options you gotta choose
i personally like the smell of weed but dislike the smell of cigarette/tobacco smoke, but combing through the notes on that poll indicates that this opinion may be unpopular! idk!
it’s time
Propaganda
Anne Baxter (The Ten Commandments, All About Eve)—her soft, gentle voice in "all about eve", those gentle eyes with something odd behind them, the way she flips from Sweet Innocent to Viper on a dime......there was something Built Different about anne baxter, man, and it makes her so good for playing people who are Built Wrong. also one of my favorite batmen villains (her joint episode w vincent price is a delight) and of course I'm obsessed with her columbo episode where she bosses around edith head and does fabulous movie star things for no good reason. and i would be REMISS if i didn't mention her slink—oh the slink—in the ten commandments...................pardon me i must go think of sinning again
Edana Romney (Corridor of Mirrors)— Look. It is definitely a case for your discretion. Edana Romney had only one major film role and then foundered in a Britain/Hollywood that didn’t like her look. But the film she starred in was also one she CO-WROTE and co-founded a whole production company to make happen, and it is a lavish, imaginative gothic romance where she runs around in fanciful medieval gowns and has incredible eyelashes. She was also known in later years as a Hollywood hostess who had popular “twelfth night” parties, gayest of all Shakespeare plays to have a party about.
This is round 1 of the tournament. All other polls in this bracket can be found here. Please reblog with further support of your beloved hot sexy vintage woman.
