“The plan is simple,” Sully explained, placing the blueprints of a museum’s ground floor and basement on the big table in front of you. “I need you,” he pointed at you, “to walk around the venue, look at all the beautiful art around you, act interested and, most importantly, not suspicious like last time, you got that?”
You rolled your eyes, contemplating whether you should start a fight again and remind both Sully and Nate that it wasn’t you who fucked up the last job, even though months later they still loved to act like it was. You were well aware of your abilities to distract the tough guys from their job of guarding whatever it was Nate and Sully then had to steal, but you didn’t need to brag about it, so you kept your mouth shut and nodded along with a sarcastic grin on your face.
“Did you at least get the dress I asked for?” You then commented, watching Sully nod as he quickly walked out of the room to return with a large white box in his hands. “Couldn’t have chosen a more expensive one, I guess, huh?”
Giving him an irritated look, you took the box from him. “You know how it is, gotta blend in with the crowd,” you stated, placing the box down on the couch to inspect the dress. It looked even better in real life than online. And maybe — just maybe — you’ve chosen this dress for… selfish reasons, rather than to blend in. A less expensive dress would’ve done, too.
“Wow, that’s… beautiful,” Nate admitted quite sheepishly, appearing next to you as you held the dress up in front of you. “I’m sure you’ll look amazing in it,” he added with a soft chuckle. You looked into his dark eyes, feeling heat rise to your cheeks at the early compliment.
