What had she run into?

Were her cuts from running through the massive jungle that surrounded the mountainside or had she gone up against something? He had begun taking out items from his belt, setting up to clean her wounds until Mirabel asked for her bag.

Right. Magical food.

Quickly he moved to hand open the bag, sitting beside her as the alchemist held onto her shaking hand.

"What were you doing out there alone?"

It was hard to talk between his laughter, Rudiger excitedly nuzzling and swishing his tail under the alchemist's chin and around Varian's neck as the animal cooed in content.

"O-okay, okay haha I'm glad to see you too buddy, calm down."

Removing him off his shoulders Varian hugged him, turning back towards the child.

"Mhm, we come from a very far place, so, again I really am thankful for your help. I'm Varian, pleasure to make your acquaintance, and this little guy is Rudiger but, I think you might already know that huh?"

Which meant..

"Do you happen to know the Madrigal Family?"

"What? Of course I'm okay with it, let me move some stuff around."

Luckily he had brought an extra mattress he kept under his dorm bed, his mother had bought it for him and Izuku didn't have the heart to tell her she didn't have to.

"I can, uh, turn some figurines around? I would've taken them off since I know some people get disturbed by having so many eyes staring at them."

Wrapping an arm around her he turned towards Casita, lightly nudging at it as the alchemist asked the magic castle permission before sitting on the windowsill with the Princess.

Head resting upon her bouncy curls as their fingers intertwined in a strong hand hold.

"I'll take you everywhere, everyone's going to love you. First, I'll take you to Old Corona so you meet my Dad, a-and I'll show you my home too!

It's not a big castle like yours, and it's admittedly not the prettiest but, I want you to see where I come from."

There's a sudden swelling feeling within his chest, a firm hand resting over Iida's as Izuku offered a smile towards his friend.

"You're stronger than you know Iida, I'm proud of what you've achieved.."

The bard had waited long enough, years hoping that Eda would reach out to them and work things through. Years anxiously watching out for the witch as she recklessly brought attention to her, their heart constantly caught jumping between Raine's throat and their stomach with every spine chilling news reporter that carried Eda's face.

"Do you think I'm not aware of it? Eda, I've learned more about your curse from gossip magazines and royal scrolls than from you..

I saw it, when Emperor Belos announced you'd be turn to stone I didn't know what to do with myself.

I wanted to help you! I wanted to stop him and free you, to be there with you, and make sure no harm would come to you."

They'd prepare many plans for extraction, all routes out of the palace known by every rock and scratch that laid within it's structure.

But..

"I didn't know how you would react in that stage, if I'd be harming you, or, what would happen after.

I was so lost without being able to do anything.."

 "Wait, really!? That would be awesome dude! Maybe I could use them to help with Yaoyorozu's tutoring lessons.

Kacchan would probably blow me up if I went to him. That's a solid man, thanks!"

 He had to laugh at her pity joke, holding her closer as Varian shook his head. "Oh that? That's nothing compared to my previous disasters. One time I almost got sucked into a tornado created by my own in-"

Wait.

"I mean..uh, yeah that looked pretty cool. Haha.."

Oh boy.

"I promise I'm not as reckless as I used to be, honestly I don't even know what went wrong here." Moving away the alchemist began picking apart at some pieces, blinking as a mushy texture coated his glove.

Wait.

"Is this..an Arepa? But, h- Rudiger!"

"I like candy but, even I can't wouldn't just survive off of that. Blegh! You need to carry around like an allergy list or whatever cause I'm not going to deal with the backlash for accidentally killing you or something.

You have a surprisingly terrifying legion of fangirls."

"You look like you're just about ready to stab me with the knife and run off with the journal, which gotta say right now I'm kind of proud you haven't done it." 

He knew that a stab wound would need time just be a decent walker, maybe two days without someone having to stay under his arm carrying half his weight.

But, even that would be too much.

".. Actually, maybe.."

Staring down on his backpack the Alchemist hesitated, eyes glued on the latch as Varian fought reason with every other screaming voice in his head telling him this was a horrible idea.

"Maybe you guys should get a headstart."
