I really love this robot medic, he is so sexy
Rewatching BTAS and got jumpscared by the mention of Cybertron in the show,, Completely forgot that Cybertron technically exists in Batman???? And they also do robotics stuff??????
So Cybertron Industries built robotic duplicates, one of which was Batman. We meet this duplicate in the heart wrenching episode "His Silicon Soul" where the duplicate discovers morality and agency. It ultimately dies, but leaves Batman wondering if it did indeed have a soul just like his.
So follow me down a rabbit hole, if you will.
Batman keeps an eye on Rossum. He hears that Rossum is manufacturing a giant death machine, one that transforms so it can hide in plain sight. Bruce Wayne visits Rossum but all he can find is a giant ornate stick Rossum bought as modern art.
Meanwhile, Rossum is quite disappointed with his death machine. His scientists say it finished building itself one night after everyone went home, but it's rather frail with poor eyesight. And now it won't kill. Rossum orders it shocked with electricity and crystals fall out of it.
Batman finds the robot while the scientists are testing it, trying to make it kill. Remembering his own duplicate and Amazo, he waits for the scientists to leave and then speaks with the robot.
"You look wrung out," he says.
"Rung," the robot says. "I like that. I am Rung."
Batman learns that Rung is not the only robot. Rossum is building others like him. Others who think and feel, each with the strange orb of energy in their chests. Batman helps free them all in time and sends them to Doctor Fate to figure out their personhood.
But before the rescue, Rung spent a lot of time with Alfred and Bruce. Bruce thinks Rung may have imprinted on Alfred somewhat. Rung makes sure to say goodbye to Batman before Doctor Fate sends him and the other four robots to a different universe and time to carve out their own kind.
They name their new home Cybertron after their place of origin.
Decades later, a little orb of green light shows up in Wayne Manor and settles into one of the crystals Rung left behind. An old Bruce Wayne watches over the glowing crystal and finds it feels familiar. A few months later, Terry bursts in to let him know a giant alien spaceship is headed to Gotham. Earth is being hailed by the Lost Light.
