I like pine trees, cats, some seriously nerdy shit, and reading fics that I didn't have to write

Hi all! I've been lurking in the Inuyasha fandom for quite a few years now, mostly reading and doing Beta work, but this my first time actually writing something of my own. I am so excited to share and hear what you think!

I also wanted to say thank you to @heynikkiyousofine for encouraging me to write in the first place. Sometimes all it takes is a little push (and a lot of caffeine) to realize everything you've been missing out on.

Read on AO3: Click Here :]

Summary: In a world where demons are ostracized by society, Inuyasha has only his pride and the clothes on his back to his name. When Kagome offers him a place to stay during the approaching storm, will he take a helping hand?

Or, that story where Inuyasha is a stubborn idiot and Kagome has to rescue him.

Happy Friday my beautiful people! Enjoy a Smutty OneShot for the weekend and look forward the final two chapters of Fate’s Arrangement on Sunday! 💕

You can read this one shot here on ~ao3~

Summary: Kagome’s one night stand is her new boss.

“Have a great day, miss.” The man called as she stepped out of the car.

“You too!” Kagome thanked him, giving him a wide smile. Quickly rating him five stars and leaving a tip, she closed the app and made her way towards the wide double doors. Looking up, she was astounded by just how tall this building was compared to the ones back home. Feeling her phone vibrate, she glanced down to see her best friend’s name pop up.

Chapter 76: Razor Summary: Sometimes, all it takes is one word. A love story told in 100-word drabbles. Rating: M Tags: AU - Modern Setting, Romance, Fluff, Slice of Life, Meet Cute, They’re Both Idiots Your Honour

Expectations had been made.
Kagome's favourite set was clean atop the sheets she wanted to see him tangled in.
She broke out a new razor, anticipation calling for new blades and optimum silkiness.
She bought extra soap – unscented, unlike hers – just for him to use.
She checked the date on the condoms; the embarrassment of discovering they were past their best at the wrong time would be the premature death of her.
She’d even cleaned her toys, just in case, and marked herself down for thirsty over that one.
Every single box had been ticked, apart from that final one.

His hands were meant for war. They were weapons crafted of flesh and bone: ten long talons sharper than any blade at the tip of every finger, precise and fatal; muscles and tendons strengthened by his conquests stretched long under calloused skin, stronger and sturdier than iron; every movement a calculated display that no human could ever hope to replicate. Izayoi had no doubt that this hand extended towards her now was that of an executioner's, covered in the sort of blood that no amount of scrubbing or washing would ever truly clean. It had run rivers red and torn apart soft bellies and exposed necks, claiming lives and families alike. Her own village burned around her now because of hands just like these ones. Hands of killers, spirits, and yokai. But yet it remained, extended out to her so casually and politely that she might've mistaken this blood-spattered warlord for a gentleman. It was as still and steady as stone, the firelight of this great tragedy highlighting every ridge and jutting edge of his wrist and fingers. Izayoi found herself almost mesmerized by the sight—and if not only by the look of his hand alone, by the sight of him, a warlord and murderer who seemed so deceptively kind and just. Perhaps he was. It was that thought that allowed her to extend her hand in kind—soft and fragile, like a morning bird, calloused only by the strings of instruments and sewing—and place it upon his, accepting his help up into the waiting carriage that would ferry her and the children away to safety. Her heart skipped a beat when his clawed fingers closed around hers.

Thank you to @loveyou-x3000 for writing for this art.

Based on a pride and prejudice scene.

every day i am percieved™️

There is a reason for this though!

The original tweet summarizes it pretty well. Fanfic tends to be popular among certain types of neurodivergent people (aka people most likely to read excessively as a child, and have burnout as an adult) for the same reasons that we tend to hyperfixate–neurochemical signaling (I hope I’m using that phrase correctly). What I mean is, for people who are really dependent on changes in dopamine/serotonin/neurotransmitter levels, who have low levels or wonky neural reward systems (perhaps the most common types of neurodivergence)…people like us rely on dependable external sources of those neurochemicals. In order to function, we spend a lot of our free time trying to level out our brain chemistry using things that can reliably bring us a steady stream of joyful moments (rewards) without costing too much of the mental effort that is already in short supply

significantly: the investment of reading has to be balanced with a steady “return on investment”–and this return has to start fairly quickly. because again, we don’t have a lot of attention/energy to invest on tiring things. we have perpetual “low batteries” in that regard.

that doesn’t mean these stories are “simple,” or that they lack complexity or value–only that the reward has to come in short regular intervals, and it has to have a low “upfront cost.” these stories are only “easy” to read in the sense that the effort we put into them is rewarded in a timely manner. which is why fanfic stories are so perfectly formulated for neurodivergent readers–they are often beautifully written, but skip a lot of the upfront costs (of introducing new characters, of world-building, of getting the audience emotionally connected to the story elements).

the nature of fanfiction is that the reader has a pre-existing relationship with this world and these characters. that–combined with the shorter average length of fics–means that fan fics very quickly start rewarding the reader in a way that traditional fiction struggles to. that’s not a bad thing! and maybe it’s something more traditionally published writers should be paying attention to.

Fanfic, as a genre, has been uniquely helpful and accessible to many neurodivergent readers who would otherwise struggle to immerse themselves in stories. I’m glad so many of you have found a way to love and enjoy reading again! The important thing is that you are spending time inside stories you love–the way those stories are published or presented to the world is just one detail. The fact that you find joy in the process of reading (or listening!) to stories–that is what matters.

I feel understood 🥰

a bunch of people have reblogged this with the default “i feel called out” reaction….and i know when we say that we mean it tongue-in-cheek….but this comment sorta blew my mind & shifted my perspective up and to the left a little thank you♥

I got purple pencil lead so this is now a Naraku stan account 🤪

I just woke up so before I could zoom in on the picture of Naraku I thought for just a moment he was breastfeeding a baby, but then I realized he was just holding his mask in his arm.

Maybe he was breastfeeding don't be judgmental about it 😒

A belated update gifted to @windkissedsakura!!! Happy birthday! This… was a lot. Action is really hard for me to write but… I am so happy with how everything turned out.

This chapter broke 100k words of the whole stole, andddddddd I also have finally found the end to this fic. Only one more chapter left, and it is so bittersweet, but I’m glad it will be coming to an end because it will only mean some side stories, but another finished WIP.

Special shout-outs to @fawn-eyed-girl and @hnn-wnchstr for reading through this with me and helping it become the monster that it is.

what she means: i'm going to catalog every single InuKag moment, small or big or in-between, through the entire series and memorialize it on my blog with a religious zeal that would frighten an Inquisitor
