Did anyone hear the dedication?

It’s a very popular head canon/assumption that Elsie or Dave Thompson or Steve or someone would have heard John’s dedication to Kayleigh on Forever FM. And for some reason, it’s one I’ve never got along with. I can’t really say why I just think it felt too convenient or something. I never thought someone who knows them hearing the dedication would be part of the resolution.

BUT…

On a recent rewatch I noticed something. When the DJ reads John’s text he says: “… he’s also cryptically added “nobody puts Kayleigh in the corner”, does that mean anything to anybody out there?”

I really hadn’t noticed that part before (understandably LOL) but that may be a clue that the text IS going to mean something to someone listening, who will recognise who Kayleigh and John are.

Is there more Car Share? (part 1)

Every lover of Car Share reacted with total heartbreak at the news that came from Peter Kay this week that there would be no season 3 of Car Share, and no Christmas special, indicating the devastating last scenes of Kayleigh and John are how we will leave them forever.

HOWEVER, some of us have been floating in denial since then, refusing to believe it, not simply because we want more - or at the least closure and a happy ending for Kayleigh and John - but because it seems to make NO SENSE to have this ending, when the entire premise of the series seemed to be suggesting differently.

And of course it may just be wishful thinking and confirmation bias, but there does seem to be a few things outside of the plot which point to there being more to our favourite duo’s story.

Okay, the BIGGEST clue that there are some scenes filmed and not aired, for me, is this:

This is a screenshot taken from the season 2 trailer used to promote the cinema screenings of the first 2 eps at the start of April. Source: X

Here it is in gif form:

This scene has never aired. Here Kayleigh is walking round the same street corner she walked round in 2x01 when John surprised her. However, the first trailer clip is not from the scene that aired.

This is the scene that aired, and as you can see there are a lot of differences.

  1. Kayleigh isn’t on the phone - this is essential for the plot of this scene. The point of it is that John directs her to his car. So no phone indicates a different scene.
  2. Kayleigh looks upset, or at the very least not happy, she doesn’t have her usual bounce or smile. She also looks cold.
  3. In the 2x01 scene the road behind her is incredibly busy with traffic. In this clip it seems deserted. The rubbish beside the bin indicates possibly it’s the end of the day?
  4. Her bag is on the opposite shoulder. She keeps it on her left shoulder in all of the 2x01 walking scenes, no matter the angle of the shot.
  5. Her hair looks slightly different, less curly in the trailer shot.
  6. Her jacket looks different, but I think that may just be because it’s distorted because she has her hands in her pockets.

Now, obviously anything I take from this is HUGE conjecture, but to me the existence of this scene indicates something beyond a different take that wasn’t used.

There is no place within the season that a similar scene would fit - Kayleigh has lifts from John there and back in every other ep. If it was an alternative version of the scene from 2x01, that would indicate they shot a version where John didn’t direct Kayleigh to his car. And if that were so, why would they use a clip which was completely discarded rewritten in a trailer so close to the air date?

To me, the only other way this scene could exist is from an episode yet to air; an episode where Kayleigh has “walked out” of John’s life and car and is back to walking to work. It would explain her downhearted demeanour.

It also looks like she looks up to the place where John would be in his car, and perhaps it shows he has showed up to make amends?

Again, total conjecture, but the fact this VERY DIFFERENT shot suggests to me, something hasn’t been shown yet - either a deleted scene/different version of events, or a conclusion.

I think you are onto something.  Her whole demeanour is different, like she’s the saddest she’s ever been in her life.  Even in the other scene, doing so much travel to get to work, she still seemed perky.  Having the bag on the other arm is a big sign to me.  Women don’t swap arms often, I don’t think?  I certainly don’t.

I'm curious as to why YNB comments bother you so much. Lots of GA do see Caryl as family, mom/son, bro/sis. Maybe she did for the first time as well. It's gross, but you can't change how people see the relationships on the show. To see what I mean, go take a look at TWD FB page. So much hate for the last ep due to the dislike of a certain canon ship. TBH, the fandom is horrible about the R/M & D/C relationships and I sadly don't see it changing at all.

Let me share some words with you, form the Dalai Lama via Adam Hills:

“You have a microphone – use it to say something“

Anyone who has a platform no matter how small that is - be it social media or TV - I believe you have a duty to be careful with your words; to make sure you use that platform to be a good example, and to productive in sharing what you believe are important messages, and making sure NOT to add to negative ones.

YNB is someone who has a lot to say about feminism and politics, and rightly so. So it’s surprising and somewhat horrifying to me to see her saying something that she knows is deeply problematic in terms of playing into ageism and sexism.

No one is saying how she should see the relationship - which BTW she clarified repeatedly that’s not how she saw it, but nice try.

And the point is, mom/son is HUGELY, GROSSLY offensive. I’m not going to stop calling that out.

I’m pretty sure if Kevin Smith or CM Punk or someone had been on Talking Dead and said “Yeah I ship Rlchonne but I noticed Michonne is really manly…” that people would be “bothered” by that, and have something to say about it.

But far more than her comment is her reaction to it - THAT bothers me far more than what she said - especially something she’s said to several people - that if they are hurt or insulted or offended by her words, that’s on them not on her.

I think that is a HIDEOUS stance to take in life. I believe I have responsibility in what I say. I make an effort in ensuring I don’t use hurtful or offensive language. If I am told something I’ve said contributes to hate against women, sexism or ageism I sure as hell am going to apologise for that, look at my behaviour and try not to repeat it.

I mean, YNB can chose how she wants to live her life, it’s her choice, but I don’t have to agree, I don’t have to respect it and I don’t have to be silent about that.

If you’re happy to sit back and let people be horrible about the relationships - be racist, ageist, sexist and not call them on it, you do that. But I personally refuse to live like that.

Friendly reminder that Carol is the most important thing in the world to Daryl and he’d do anything to keep her safe and her emotional health and well-being are his top priority.

Guys, please

I know the comments are irritating and offensive, but can we PLEASE look at all the good we have?

We just got an awesome trailer showing Carol being ULTIMATE CASUAL BADASS WITH FLUFFY HAIR that ever lived.

Next week we have a Carol episode, that will show where Carol’s heart lies (and it’s not at the Kingdom).

We’ll get lots of articles and interviews which means WORDS FROM MMB’s wise mouth!

We get Rooker and Lennie On TTD - both Caryl shippers.

And, we have a finale to look forward to where Carol is going to BLOW EVERYONE AWAY, and HOPEFULLY Melissa will be on the finale for Talking Dead.

We have “a spark of a relationship”.

WHO KNOWS what other good stuff we might get in the next few weeks.

I have so many feelings about Rosita’s speech to Father Gabriel. So many callbacks to what she said to Spencer and Eugene. So many nods to the influence Abraham had in her life. So much pain that it’s practically seeping from her pores, and she’s drowning in her anger, grief, and rage.

She has taken bits and pieces of all these people she’s met, learned from, and loved, and used those pieces to shape herself, to adapt and become the woman she is today. It’s no wonder to me that she’s taking everything so hard, and feeling so responsible for the loss of so many lives.

Like I said, I have so many feelings.

so we wake up to some pretty scary trump tweets…of basically accusing barack obama of illegally tapping his phone…all of his tweets this morning have to do with stories that breitbart and mark levin have been spinning since Thursday of a shadow government run by obama and valerie jarrett…..so, I guess a question for chuck todd to ask tomorrow ’ Does the president believe there is a shadow government….?’ I don’t think it’s a good idea that a president relies on the far far right news for his daily talking points…

When Greg [Nicotero] and I both read the script, I have a one-and-a-half year-old, and we were like ‘no one-and-a-half year-old is going to sit still for more than three seconds’. So Greg came up with this great plan of just filming while the kid was there and just kind of getting her comfortable. The kid only lasted a take or two and Melissa McBride (Carol) was sitting in Video Village and I was acting with a tennis ball, it happens all the time. People are busy so you’re talking to a tennis ball. I said to Melissa, ‘Would you mind being a face for me?’ And she like any great partner or actor would do, she lied down on the floor and I talked the scene to her. And I have such admiration for her and love for her and I think it really worked out well as I was able to have a whole conversation with the baby and a whole conversation with Melissa McBride.

I mean if fandom wants to be petty, Carol was the childish one in this instance running away from home without telling anyone, hooking up with a guy she didn't love, clinging to Daryl holding on tight like a child to her dad in their first hug, grinning like a lovesick teenager at Daryl (I'm joking with all of this but seriously, if we're going to stoop to parent child it's totally that way round) Daryl like surrogate dad who can't tell the truth to his daughter cause it's too painful LOL

LOL I think I’ve seen ONE reviewer point that out. How refreshing.

I get what you mean even when Carol is the one vulnerable and being “taken care of” that is dismissed in favor of infantilizing Daryl in a desperate attempt of desexualizing their bond. That throws Daryl’s character development on the trash.

Rihanna made an appearance at the Ivy League school to accept a plaque given to her by Allen Counter, the director of the Harvard Foundation. She was named Humanitarian of the Year by Harvard University. 29-year-old star, who by the way has never graduated high school, was honored thanks for her charitable efforts. She created an oncology center in Barbados to fight breast cancer ans found the non-profit, The Clara Lionel Foundation Global Scholarship Program, to assist in funding Caribbean-born students who attend college in the U.S. Rihanna also backs the Global Partnership for Education and Global Citizen Project, that provides ‘access to education in over 60 developing countries, giving priority to girls, and those affected by lack of access to education in the world today.’

Rihanna becomes the 1st female singer to receive Harvard University’s  "Humanitarian of the Year.“ Very deserving.
