In honor of K/S day and also my 1,000th post on this ridiculous blog I'm going to do an analysis of The World Well Lost, a 1953 short story by Theodore Sturgeon, the screen writer for Amok Time. The story is often described at the first positive portrayal of homosexuality in science fiction. I highly recommend everyone read it. It's linked above, it's short and very good.
