5/31/23, my great aunt was murdered by my uncle. that uncle has basically gone delusional and lost his mind. I haven’t spoken to him in person since I was 17, but through my mother I learned that he had been going off the rails for a couple years now, and what he did to my aunt was a result of him believing all sorts of vile things about his life and the matriarchs of his family that never happened.
He turned himself in (after driving over 100-some km away from where he committed the crime, for some reason), and the legal matters from what I’ve been told have been a goddamn circus. Trying to convince a delusional and likely psychotic man that he needs psychiatric help is not something the legal system is good at apparently, especially when the man in question fires his lawyers. Why the judge hasn’t pointed him to a shrink I have no idea.
My attitude towards the legal and political matters of the world are no doubt being influenced by what’s going on with my uncle. Brain wants to believe that these things are only going to end badly unless I single handedly do something about it (for some reason), but I’m trying to tell myself that there’s a whole myriad of people out there doing those things together and that I don’t need to commit my own violence in order to have an excuse to get locked up and hide so that I don’t have to face the consequences of the world finding out that I couldn’t stop a landscape changing event taking place in another country by myself.
It’s ridiculous seeing it all typed out, but maybe this voice in my head is like my uncle in how unconvinced it is. With the amount of weird things running in my family I wouldn’t be surprised
Thankfully I talked to a guy from the mental health crisis line and I’m calling the central intake people to try and get connected to a therapist in the morning. Your 20s are the years that you finally figure out what the fuck is wrong with you after all
