(AIDEN FOX) who looks an awful lot like (VANESSA MORGAN) has just been seen around Port Whitley!  Apparently (SHE/THEY) are a (28) year old (DEMIGIRL) born on (JANUARY 12TH) and has been in the city for (6 MONTHS) and is a (MECHANIC). If there is a quote to describe them it would be “I CROSSED ALL THE LINES AND I BROKE ALL THE RULES, BUT BABY, I BROKE THEM ALL FOR YOU” - But we have yet to make up our mind if that is accurate.

“Actually i was your twelve but you know… this thing won’t go more then 20mph.” She chuckled, tapping her old car on the hood. She hadn’t taken the car to the city with her and when she’d returned home, it turned out the car needed a lot of love. “I think something is wrong with the battery” She replied sheepishly.

“My one’s running late, so that’s perfect,” they responded, setting the sandwich inside the mini-fridge just inside the garage. They dusted the bread crumbs off their hands and snagged the OCD-II reader off the bench to make their way over. “It might be the battery, but it could also be a dirty fuel injector. Neither of them are super expensive fixes. Do you mind opening the door so I can access the port right quick? This will help. Also when was the last time it had an oil change?”

Too many people mistrusted mechanics because of a money grab; Aiden swore they would never be one.

JJ looked up, leaning against his car. His eyes gave a quick glance of the area, before realising they were talking to him. “Uh, one o’clock for what?” he asked with a small laugh. “I feel like I need more information.” He paused. “Oh, the garage. No, I literally just parked here to eat my lunch. Busy day?”

If Aiden were the religious type, they would be thanking God about now. They pulled the sandwich back out of the bag and unrolled it from the bag. People running late meant they could actually eat real food versus stealing some bites here and there and face getting yelled at for wasting time.

Maybe someday people would treat mechanics like humans instead of servants.

“You’ve got no idea,” they responded once they polished off a bite. “I can’t sit down, but I can at least eat something while I wait.”

If it wasn’t one thing, it was another. A coworker fucked up someone’s car and nearly destroyed an engine, one customer drove off without paying, someone had their windshield wrecked in the parking lot. If it wasn’t for the fact that the full moon had been last week, Aiden would be curious.

They leaned against the wall outside the garage, teeth sinking into a long-awaited sandwich when a car approached. “Hey there,” they called, quickly rolling the sandwich back into its bag and shoving it into the lunchbox. “You must be my one o’clock.”

Text 📲 || Aiden & Jackie

Jackie: Yo, you're good, but like you wanna dish the deets? Because I'm already invested like my granny's favorite soap.
Jackie: You're not doing something anymore? Is it fight club? I always knew this damn town had a fight club. I been trying to get in. But the first rule of fight club, you know?
Aiden: Nah, don't worry about it. It was a wrong number.
Aiden: How sick would it be if PW actually _had_ a fight club though?

“Wow! But that is pretty much set on the friendship rule! Written down on the small prints and all of that!” Asher pointed out, faking hurt by placing his hand on his chest at Aiden’s words. Being friends with Aiden was easy. Asher didn’t need to think about how to act around her, nor what she would think about him. They didn’t have labels, they didn’t have anything besides two people that had things in common and liked to share a beer and have intense conversations of stupid things on their lives. “Thank God, no. Hey, now! Working hours is no excuse to be lazy. I work just as much, if not more sometimes and I yet have time to cook myself something quick, easy that is not frozen. Kraft…I – Aiden. The more you talk, the worst you make me feel.”

.

“What is this, Disney Channel?” she joked. “The real world exists, where friends can be kinda shitty.” Aiden twisted the cue under her hand to take the shot, sending the cue ball into the corner pocket. It reminded her a little of college, where she could stay up late post-finals and take money from college boys that she hadn’t particularly needed.

“The difference is, you’re a chef, I’m a mechanic. You’re used to making food all the damn time. I barely have time to grocery shop, let alone stand at a stove. I add cream cheese and prepackaged shredded cheese to the Kraft. Add some Taco Bell sauce on top and you’re in business.”

Meadow laughed at the other person’s words. Then she said “well, frozen Thin Mints are okay.” She still wouldn’t seek them out on purpose, but she would at least eat them if there were no other cookies available. “Personally I’d rather have frozen Peanut Butter Patties.” Chocolate and peanut butter was pretty much the perfect combination in Meadow’s opinion. As the bartender gave Meadow a refill on her cocktail, she added “People complain about the cost of Girl Scout cookies going up but I would honestly pay a small fortune for a box of them.”

.

“Can be forgiven,” she stated. There was something soothing and comforting about Girl Scout cookies. It almost reminded her of her time in the Girl Scouts, when she could tell the history of each cookie or that Girl Scouts had invented the s’more. She remembered the lock-ins, the camping trips, the plethora of crafts that likely still littered her parents’ house, along with every picture she had ever taken. “Peanut butter patties are good, but the lemonade ones are inspiring.”

She took a sip of her beer and set it back down on the coaster. “I’d pay ten bucks a box if they keep the recipe the same. No one cares about health, they want the high-fat content in the cookies. You eat them because they’re good, not because they’re healthy.”

Cierra blinked rapidly, trying to make sure her eyes weren’t deceiving her. She had long since given up hope that her youngest sibling was alive. So to see them standing here before her was a major shock. And she was feeling a whole range of emotions at the moment. Relief to know her sister was alive after all. Confusion as to how that was possible. And anger over the time she had spent mourning someone who was apparently alive after all. In the end, anger won out. Dropping her voice to a hiss in case anybody nearby was listening, she said “Want to explain to me how you are alive?”
image
.

Cierra had every right to be mad at her. Hell, she was mad at herself. Aiden had a loving, supportive family and she threw it all away on someone she wasn’t even with anymore. She had given up anything that had ever meant anything to her and all she wanted to do was cry out the years’ worth of built-up frustration.

Aiden didn’t feel like Aiden.

“No, I can’t,” she answered. No matter how badly she wanted to, no matter how badly she wanted to rejoice in the fact that someone who actually knew her was standing in front of her, Aiden couldn’t tell her anything. “Believe me, I want to. But I can’t. I can’t tell you anything. And you can’t tell anyone you saw me.”

THE TIDBIT OF information that danny gained from the other shocked him a little. working with cars could be dirty work , so he found it interesting that she was a clean freak who also had a relatively messy job.  i don’t think i’ve ever met a self - proclaimed clean freak mechanic before , but it makes sense that you’d be more aware of cleanliness than other people , he commented.
he pondered her statement about the filtration system before deciding to just take a large gulp of the water. it didn’t make him feel as good as alcohol would but it was the safer choice for him and he knew that.  i think it’s safe , maybe not the cleanest but i think i’ll be okay , he chuckled.  anyway , what are you doing here ? any occasion or just grabbing a drink ? ❞

.

“You should see under the hood of my truck. Keeping that clean as much as possible helps me identify problems first and saves me money in the long run of maintaining it,” she added. Inward cleaning, in her opinion, was just as important as outward cleaning. Especially living on the coast with salty air. Salt meant rust. If there was one thing she took pride in, it was the excellent maintenance on her vehicles.

Aiden shrugged as she toyed with the top of her beer bottle. “I come here pretty often after work. It’s sort of my ritual,” she explained. “It forces me to interact with people. Socialization is necessary, right?”

“Oh, that’s a good point” said Meadow, resisting the urge to shudder at the other person’s words. “Luckily I hate all things mint, so I never go digging around in those little containers anyway.” She dropped her voice slightly, as if she was about to confess a dirty secret. “I don’t even like Thin Mints. You’d be surprised how many people seem to think that’s my fatal character flaw” she said with a wide grin.

.

“She’s a 10 but she hates Thin Mints...” Aiden joked. She caught the bartender’s attention and held up her empty bottle. At the very, very least, she could likely get away with one more before pounding a ton of water and making her way home. “Even frozen Thin Mints?”
