Just a reminder that I’m an Adult™ and if that makes you feel uncomfortable feel free to:

  • unfollow me
  • ask me to unfollow you
  • block me

I won’t get mad or anything. It’s important to make sure you feel comfortable and secure.

Yep.  It also correlates extremely strongly with an increasing decrease of violent crime.  One of the symptoms of low level constant lead exposure is increased aggression and volatility.

“Unknown scientist”? That was Clair Cameron Patterson.

Gas companies are still so mad at him he’s “unknown scientist”, know his name

Daily reminder that health and safety standards like these are what politicians mean when they talk about “deregulation.”

Patterson died 5 December 1995.

Petition to make his date of death a Tumblr holiday celebrated by talking about cool shit the gas and petroleum industries don’t want us to know about, and fighting to continue his work.

Clair Patterson “get the lead out”.

He got the lead out….

Science and care for humanity and standing up for the right thing in opposition to corporate oil profit….

I’d back a 5 December tumblr holiday too…

+1 for @kurowrites @squeeful @solarpunkcast @bogleech and @prismatic-bell for the knowledge and insight share!

There should be actual self-help spaces for men (and especially young men) that aren’t just alt-right recruitment centers.

As a person who was a dude the places I wanted to go to with kind people (usually queer people) had at least a few people saying that “men are trash” or “men are inherent dangers” with no pushback and it scared me.

I’m decently emotionally mature and realized that just because some outliers were assholes didn’t mean the whole place was terrible but what about younger or less emotionally mature boys? They see “oh men are trash” and see no pushback then think “Oh. These people do not like me for something I cannot change. These other people (Jordan Peterson fans) like me for who I am (they don’t but they say they do). I will go to the place I feel safer and happier.”

Without a kind safe space for boys then they will go to these toxic places. I used to read a good amount of posts on r/Teachers and a lot of them are saying the boys don’t respect them, love people like Andrew Tate, so on and so forth. This is what happens when the only “safe spaces” for boys aren’t actually safe.

Just stumbled upon this homophobic ad from a Christian Church on Facebook and the way it unintentionally slayed—

Oh yeah. This slaps. I wanted to listen to the song this image came from right away. Very sad it isn't from one

Our saints were cast out from the light shed by those made righteous through fear and pain of God, bowing and beaten by an iron rod.

Is the glow of halos a shield or chain? One we should never question To protect the children from profane deeds of loving yourself more than

a God who speaks only names He gave and not the name you made in the mirror, wondering why you're not a girl or a guy.

It was pride that changed angels into devils. It was high time for us to become rebels, To forge halos into swords to overthrow.

Cuz if our seeds get no light to grow from the sun and Father then we'll make the fires grow Higher and higher

Until the blaze is seen from hell Where they wanted us to dwell in misery, but hate cannot define. We'll make our own divine.

It was pride That changed angels into devils It was high time For us to become rebels Turning from songs of praise into better ways.

It was pride That changed angels into devils It was high time For us to finally revel In our own skins which we were told was sin.

It was pride That changed angels into devils. It was pride That changed angels into devils.

Stop me if you’ve heard this lately: This oppressively hot weather is our new normal. Or: The climate crisis is here, now. Or: It may be boiling right now, but this is the coolest summer of the rest of our lives.

Thanks in part to the El Niño weather pattern—but also thanks to greenhouse gasses in our atmosphere—our world is currently experiencing what could be the hottest year since recordkeeping began. Last week may have been the hottest week on record. The most horrific part is that these jaw-dropping records are just the beginning.

Even if the world were able to magically cut all fossil fuel use tomorrow, we’ve emitted enough carbon dioxide and methane that global temperatures will keep rising until we hit 1.5 degrees Celsius of warming above preindustrial levels. The rest of this century will be a game of catchup as we work to undo what we’ve already done; we’re in for many more hot—and hotter, and hotter—summers ahead.

This is, to put it bluntly, catastrophic. This crisis should be front-page news everywhere this month—but it’s not in any meaningful way. Most news outlets are reporting on the record-breaking heat, and perhaps offering advice on how to “survive” it, but I’ve barely seen any elevated mainstream coverage that recognizes the severity of this emergency. Ok so I have these two friends. One straight cis guy, and one lesbian. They look pretty similar, have the same hair style, and tend to shop at the same places for clothes. So the running friend-group joke is that they’re twins. And they’re always like “I don’t see it.”

This weekend, completely unplanned, they showed up to a wedding looking like this.

I think they see it now.

Also the guy was the officiant and all night people kept coming up to the girl to praise her officiating prowess. 😂
