at least he wasn’t loud enough to wake anyone ---- it was already embarrassing for him that ruby noticed his faint sobs to begin with. ‘ not really. i did have some chickens though. i got along with them pretty well. ‘ a pause before oscar looked at her. ‘ i bet this place used to be great. ‘

‘ i - i wasn’t crying. ‘ oscar was resting vaguely off to the side from everyone else, facing away &. quickly swiping at his tears once ruby’s warm voice filled the air. finally turning to face her, oscar glanced everywhere besides her gentle silver eyes --- afraid that they, that she would think he’s too weak for this. maybe he was. ‘ it’s just. . . this place makes me miss my own farm. ‘ younger sighed out, pulling his knees up to rest under his chin. ‘ sorry if i woke you up, ruby. ‘

arguing with qrow wasn’t in ozpin’s best interest, though moreso for oscar’s sake than his own. in order to give them both a moment to breathe, ozpin stepped back with both hands clasped tightly behind his back. hopefully qrow would contain his anger, at least for now. ‘ i don’t know what i was supposed to say to you. ‘ that he loved her, failed to protect his children and his students ? every time someone knew the whole story ---- it usually meant they’d leave or his impending doom. ‘ it doesn’t change the fact i do trust you. ‘

oscar had no idea what to expect from this group anymore. actually, scratch that ----- oscar NEVER had any idea what to expect from them. their strength, their priorities ; it all differed from everything oscar knew, &. without ozpin’s assistance in understanding. . . he was useless. he was a “ poor kid “ whose own thoughts &. feelings meant nothing to them in the grand scheme of things. he’d stop existing one day down the line, &. then it would all be ozpin’s problem . . .
he didn’t realize he’d begun breathing quicker, tears stinging the younger’s eyes while his knees buckled underneath him. what came as more of a surprise was a gentle voice guiding him to finally sit down, his bottom lip trembling before he reached to wipe at his eyes. ‘ ozpin, he --- i can’t hear him anymore. it should be nice, but it isn’t. y - you’re all mad at me now ! ‘ oscar’s voice held no accusation, only pain &. distress at their situation. ‘ i’m sorry. you’re being nice. thank you. ‘
i mostly got on this blog to bug renee but anyone else who needs quality oz / oscar interactions... I’m here

hugs jaune for no other reason than he's been like a big brother to him. even if jaune is like over a foot taller.
surprise opens blue eyes a little wider than normal, both arms up and out while his brain registers what was happening. oh, oh ok. he’s…a hug. oscar is hugging him. while not expecting the action, jaune isn’t at all displeased with it, and after a moment he finds himself putting an arm around the boy, his other raising to drop a hand in his hair. he’s so tiny, he thinks in the back of his head. was…this what it felt like to have a little sibling? he hopes so. his own troubled thoughts about the second soul within him have quieted; he doesn’t see ozpin now, not at all. he only sees a kid trying to figure out his place in the world. kind of like himself…
