Hey shoutout to

  • People with “minor” disabilities who aren’t sure if they belong in disabled spaces
  • People who have rare disabilities and don’t see other people with the same disability, even in disabled spaces
  • People who’ve been told nothing is wrong with them even though is something clearly wrong that now feel like they’re just making stuff up
  • People who have been dismissed by doctors because they didn’t fit the image the doctor had of what a “sick” person looked like
  • People who tried to get help for their problem and are still waiting
  • People who have unaddressed health problems in general

Y’all are great and deserve the world!

As someone whose visibly physically disabled sister constantly claims my minor and not visible disabilities and mental disorders aren’t real or “bad enough”, and as someone who knows something is up in my brain but can’t get any information on what it is, thank you. Thank you so much.

Would anyone be interested in a Pride playlist specifically for aspecs?

'Cause I'm going to make one.

Reblog with any songs that help you feel more secure in your aspec identity, anything that resonates. All suggestions will be added as long as they're child-appropriate-- no bad words or anything. (I may make a second version with all the songs, if there are enough that can't go in the first playlist.)

This Is Me- Greatest Showman, Paper Doll- Bea Miller, I Dare You- Bea Miller, I Am Not Nothing- Beth Crowley, Jar Of Hearts- Christina Perri, Sit Still Look Pretty- Daya, I’m Still Here- Treasure Planet, Show Yourself- Frozen 2, Bye Bye- Jo Dee Messina, Lesson In Leavin’- Jo Dee Messina, Speechless- Naomi Scott, Not Your Cinderella- Peyton Rae, Loose Ends- Rachel Platten, Fight Song- Rachel Platten, Brave- Sara Bareilles

This is probably way too many, but I don’t care. These are all songs that have helped me through battles with my primarily not-ace family (my sister, who’s also ace, is the only one who knows I’m ace/aro.) A couple songs I added for aces who only figured out they were ace after traumatic events or bad exes or stuff like that. Some of these may seem a little weird, but all of them have helped me at some point or another. (My sister has a strange talent for sensing when I’m having a bad day and sending me a song to help me deal with it. So a lot of these are from her, thanks Lil.)

Definitely not too many!! This Is Me and Show Yourself are already on, the others I'll add in a moment. Thank you so much!!!

^_^ Sisters are awesome, aren't they? (Mine's also the only person I know offline who knows I'm aroace!)

You’re welcome! Music is probably one of the biggest things that’s helped me with my identity struggles and mental struggles.

It’s kinda funny- I have one sister who has no idea I’m ace/aro and constantly asks me about dating, when I’m going to get married, how many kids I want, tells me I’m going to “meet the right guy” someday; and one sister who knows I’m ace/aro and is so supportive it’s ridiculous. (She’s also ace herself.) I’ve lost count of the times we’ve vented to each other about it. She even made my ace ring for me with her resin kit!

sending so much love to everyone who feels like they’re never chosen as the best friend, as the partner, as the favorite. sending love to all of you who have been treated and felt like second best. sending love to all of you who have felt rejected and unwanted. to all of you who have had to try really hard to fit in because you felt like you never will.

you are so loved. you will be seen and heard by the right people. you can trust that you are valuable and not defined by other people’s perceptions of you. if someone doesn’t see your worth, it doesn’t mean it isn’t there.

I needed this today. Thank you so much.
