DAY 7 CHALLENGES

A) Keep working on or finish a WIP

In your submission, link to your updated/finished work or talk about the project and your progress so that others may be excited and cheerlead you! OR

B) Start a new project!

That thing you’ve been thinking about starting for a while now? This is the time to go for it! A project can be anything of your choosing, and can range from “get started on that long multivoice NIF podfic” to “organize my NIF bookmarks” or “make a friend watch NIF”. In your submission, talk a bit about what plans you have and how you plan to execute them so that we can cheer you on / look forward to it! You can also recruit cheerleaders/betas/partners.

DAY 6 CHALLENGES

DETAILS AND SUBMISSION POST HERE 

A) Rec at least 3 fanworks or fandom resources that you didn’t create. (For example, a character relationship guide is a fandom resource) 

If you like, talk about why you are reccing them. This can be in any space of your choosing. (twt thread/moments, tumblr post, gdoc, playlist, carrd, Ao3 collection, etc). OR

B. Throw us a bone. Talk about your favorite NIF related headcanon, meta or plot bunny that lives rent free in your head.

(You can also throw us a boneR and make it NSFW :P). You can do this in the submission post itself or link to a post in your own space. Engaging conversation with another person’s headcanon/meta/plot bunny (e.g., response/expansion to a someone else’s meta) is also considered a valid submission.

DAY 5 CHALLENGES

DETAILS AND SUBMISSION POST HERE A) Create something featuring or for your favorite underappreciated character

(Who that definition encompasses is entirely up to you.) Dress up as them, write a letter/notes as one of them or to them, meta about them, compose a poem about them, make them a food, make them a playlist, sing them a song, make a powerpoint presentation about their innumerable qualities, write them a love letter, etc OR

B) Poke around and help repopulate the old NIF kinkmeme

You can leave new prompts, fill prompts, +1 existing prompts, add ideas to prompts, collaborate in brainstorming or thread!fic, promote the nirvanainfirekinkmeme to friends, etc! For inspiration, you can even look through existing prompt lists from previous NIF fest and NIF exchanges :D NIF Exchange 2017 NIF Exchange 2018 NIF Exchange 2019 NIF Exchange 2020 Don't forget to tag submissions with appropriate content warnings at the subject line of your comment, including NSFW submissions.

DAY 4 CHALLENGES

A) Share your favorite NIF quotein any manner that isn’t solely typed words.

EX: handwrite the quote, do some calligraphy, create a graphic/edit/gifset, put a melody to it, put it in a poem, recreate the scene using figures, create a puzzle to which the answer is your quote, etc. OR B) Make a NIF related meme,“shitpost” or other kind of humorous content.

To help, here is a website to generate memes and the NIF screenshot collection. We do ask you to be aware of digital blackface and conscientious when selecting your meme templates.

DAY 3 CHALLENGES

SUBMIT YOUR FILL AND CLAIM YOUR STAMP HERE A) Create something that relates to an existing NIF fanwork

This does NOT have to be a polished or completed work, and the “relate” part can be very loose! For the purpose of these challenges, a fanwork is any NIF content made by a fan.

Ideas:

- doodle while listening to a podfic

- dress up in your best modern NIF fashion

- share a headcanon about a gifset you that made you cry

- practice a section of NIF music on your instrument

- create a playlist for a fanwork

- write a drabble in the same universe as a vid

- draw a fanart for a story

- do an oral!not fic sequel to a story

- podfic a story

- make a moodboard or cover for a fanwork

- craft an object that features in a fanwork

- try a recipe that features in canon or in a fanwork

- translate a fanwork/song

- write text messages a character might send another from a fanwork

- share a plotbunny born from an art

- whatever else you can think of!

Please remember to note in the Comment what type of work you are submitting.

OR

B) Create a “DVD commentary”for a fanwork or canonical scene of your choice.

What is going through your head while you consume that scene or fanwork? Any insight about its creation? Talk it out! This can be your own fanwork, or someone else’s fanwork you particularly enjoy and have thoughts about. (For this challenge, please do not engage in critique of a fanwork not your own, unless you have explicit permission from the original creator to do so.) Ideas:- text post- voiceclip- annotated bibliography- ppt presentation- poster- Twitter thread- etc!

DAY 2 CHALLENGES

SUBMIT YOUR FILL IN THIS POST  & claim your stamp!  A) Comment on a NIF fanwork Old or new, any medium on any platform. (Pssst. the Novel Translation is also a fanwork!) Submit a link to the fanwork you’ve commented on, or link to your comment directly if possible. You can also share a screenshot of your feedback.

OR

B) Complete this FEEDBACK BINGO CARD (details here) with all comments on NIF fanworks. Participants who blackout the bingo by February 26th can claim a small prize with @lunarflares​

. (One feedback can apply to multiple squares). Submit your complete bingo card, and if you can, links to the fanworks. You can also link to the feedback you’ve left, though you don’t have to—this is an honor system, so we’ll trust you’ve left feedback if you tell us so!

Here are some things you can talk about: Tell us how you discovered NIF. Rec any NIF content you have created. What are some favorites of yours in NIF? (characters/ scenes/ tropes/ fannish experiences/ etc) What would you most love to see more of in NIF fandom? (tropes, characs, mediums, events, etc)

OR

B) Lovefest.

Show some love to at least one fellow NIF fan by participating in the NIF Fandom Lovefest!! How to lovefest:

Comment with the name of the person you want to show appreciation to, and what you want to appreciate them for. This will start a thread, where you can show your appreciation, and anyone else is welcome to join the thread.

This is an appreciation post, so positive comments only! Negative comments will be deleted by the mods.

HAPPY NIU YEAR

NIFFEST IS BACK WITH AN EXCITING NEW EVENT FOR NIU YEAR!!! READ ALL DETAILS HERE ON OUR DW   Join us from Feb 12-26 for a NIF challenge fest!

We will be revealing 7 daily challenges on Feb 12, and everyone has 2 weeks to complete them.  Challenges are all mediums, no minimum, do as much or little as you like, think outside the box, casual, unfinished or unpolished works welcome!

To encourage you to try them all, we will be revealing a stamp card with cute stamps you can collect for each day’s challenge you complete! No sign-ups necessary. 

This fest will be run through primarily DREAMWIDTH (no account necessary to participate) although participants are welcome to post their works on their platform of choice, and merely submit a link to it on our DW submission post.  Tell your friends and watch this space for the challenges reveal which will happen on FEBRUARY 12 2021!
